The experimentation modal analysis is made in the bed of the CNC machine tool with the hammering method of the pulse excitation. Then the dynamic characteristics of this bed are studied and the natural frequency of the bed in the specified frequency band. It supplies a clear reference for the structured optimum design of the bed through the analysis of the main mode on every rank.

The dynamic characteristic is one of the important indicators which determine the performance of a machine tool, in this paper, the finite element model of a plane grinder is established with consideration of the behavior of joint, the static dynamic characteristics of machine tools are analyzed to reveal the vibration weak link, the column structure is topology optimized and redesigned based on the variable density degradation method. Static and dynamic characteristics of the original and new column are compared, and the dynamic characteristics of the machine tool before and after modification are discussed. The results indicate that the static and dynamic characteristics of the plane grinder are all improved after optimization.

In order to analyze accurately the dynamic characteristics of guideway joints of CNC, the finite element model(FEM) of guideway joints of CNC is built in ANASYS software, which that springs and damping units imitate guideway joints in this paper. The proposed method can predict the regular pattern which joint stiffness and joint span affect natural frequency and harmonic response. The research demonstrates that the method predicts well the dynamic characteristics of the guideway joints of CNC; therefore, it can be a reference for dynamic optimization design of guideway joints of CNC machine tool.

The simplified finite element modal was established with ANSYS aiming to study the spindle box. The changing regularity of the first 6-order natural frequency of spindle box was studied after the static and modal analysis. Shape optimization design was carried out by taking the maximum deformation of the direction of X,Y,Z as the objective function. The results show that the structure of spindle box after optimization can effectively reduce the maximum deformations of the direction of X,Y,Z,and has better static and dynamic characteristics.

Most of the commenly adotped interpolation algorithems are for the curve machining on CNC machine tools with Cartesian coordinates configuration. For a CNC machine tool with non-Cartesian configuration, new trajectory interpolation algorithem must be developed to machine complex part sueface. Based on the analysis of the geometric characteristics and the CNC grinding principle of indexable inserts, this paper proposes two interpolation algorithems to grind the nose surface of indexable inserts with constant or variable back angle. The algorithm precision analysis is also made in this paper.

The machine tool bed is an important fundamental unit of the Machine tool, and its static and dynamic characteristics directly influence the precision of the Machine tool’s process. The precise composite B2-K3000 CNC grinding machine bed is made from artificial granite. Through entity modeling, adding the boundary conditions and stress conditions to the bed, this article analyses the static stiffness, natural frequency, vibration mode and harmonic response of the grinding machine bed, and masters the natural characteristics and preponderant natural frequency.On the basic of the bed’s structure characteristics and stiffness requirements, the original bed’s structure gets partial improvements. By increasing the number of ribs and using the cross-shaped ribs, the improved result indicates that the bed’s static stiffness can be enhanced obviously and the bed’s static and dynamic characteristics can be more excellent.

The dynamic characteristics of machine tool directly affect machining accuracy of the final parts. Taking the self-developed HRG ultra-precision polishing CNC machine tool as the research object, the simplified finite element model is established with the finite element analysis software to do the dynamic analysis and the natural frequency is detected as the index of the dynamic performances. Based on the comparative analysis of the natural frequency and vibration modes, the gantry and the supporting frame are recognized as structural weaknesses of the machine tool, and then the modal test is done to verify simulation results. Eventually the structural weaknesses are optimized effectively. The 1st order nature frequency of the optimized gantry and the optimized supporting frame is increased 75.5% and 80.8% respectively so that they have better dynamic performances, resulting in offering higher workpiece quality and process stability.

A dynamic characteristics test and analysis system for CNC machine tool is developed based on C++/Qt platform and NI-DAQmx data acquisition driver. The function modules include hammer experiment, signal continuous acquisition, spectral analysis, frequency response function analysis and signal coherence analysis, etc. The analysis results provide the basis of dynamics characteristics simulation and cutting parameters optimization. The system can be also used to analysis the vibration of the cutting process. Spectrum analysis modules help to assess the cutting stability and diagnose problems. Experiments show that the system has good accuracy and efficiency while the size and price are decreased compare with traditional equipment.

Dynamic characteristics is the foundation of the dynamic design of the machine tool, while the key factor of establishing the accurate dynamic model of the machine tool is the treatment of the joint surface. In this paper, the whole machine tool model is built with the software PRO/ E, and the software MSC. Patran is used to mesh the finite element of super-high-speed grinder and set up the boundary conditions. Then Yoshimura method is used to determine the junction parameters and establish the dynamic model of the junction. The software MSC. Nastran is used to analyze the modal of the whole machine. At last, on basis of identifying the weaknesses of the structure of the machine tool, the paper provides a theoretical basis for the improvement of the machine tool design.
