Paper is the main print material, whose performance is a factor that effects the printing’s dot gain which is bad to image clarity and color reproduction. In the paper, Yule-Nielsen neugebauer spectral modal is analyzed , and the relation between paper’s spectral reflectance and the printing’s dot gain is discussed. By experiments, the paper’s spectral reflectance is adopted as correction index, which can reduce the dot gain value of the light color patch , and in the same printing conditions the dot gain is effected by the paper’s spectral reflectance, ink’s type, dot area percentage and wavelengths. The research has a certain significance for controlling printing quality and reducing the producing cost.

Yule-Nielsen neugebauer spectrum(YNSN) model can describe the relation between dot area and spectrum reflectance, which can calculate the effective dot area. The modified index in the model still can’t be determined. The reciprocal of paper’s spectral reflectance at the range of visible light is adopted as the modified index in YNSN model in order to reduce the optical dot gain. By experiment, the modified YNSN mode can be used to calculate the effective dot area of light color. The research has a certain significance for controlling and testing printing color.

Yule-Nielsen spectral neugebauer (YNSN) model is widely used in printing for predicting dot area. The model’s accuracy is effected by the paper’s performance, ink kinds, wavelengths, and printing conditions. In the paper, the relation between the solid color patch’s spectral reflectance and the printing’s dark dot area is discussed. By experiments, the solid color patch’s spectral reflectance is adopted as fixed index of YNSN model, which can reduce the deviation of the dark color patch. The research has a certain significance for controlling printing quality and reducing the producing cost.

In the contact area of offset, a relative slide occurs between the surface of plate cylinder and blanket cylinder, which changes the print image and influences the printing quality. The relative slide in the cylinders’ rolling process is investigated, and the determination rule of cylinders’ geometric parameters of offset press is proposed. The results show that the relative slide is minimization under the condition that the compression of elastic cylinder radius is 0.2 times bigger than that of rigid cylinder radius, and the deformation of print image and dot gain both are minimization. The results provide theoretical direction for accurate determination of cylinder radius of offset press.

In packaging market, Vacuum Plate of Aluminum by UV offset printing is light impediment effectively, moisture-proof, and forgery-proof and reaches the request of the green packaging production. Thus, the packaging of Vacuum Plate of Aluminum is used widely. This study was a true experimental research. The test form employed was the printing quality control strip from international printing specification. It was used to record and analyze the color variance between Vacuum Plate of Aluminum and Aluminum Foil with white board and no white board using UV Offset Printing. The study indicated the comparison of Tone Value Increased & the difference of Color Gamut Range among these three packaging materials via C, M, Y, K four colors tone value and RGB area testing, and results reveals that the tone value on the Vacuum Plate of Aluminum with white board increased most among these three materials; the dot gain percentage of the Vacuum Plate of Aluminum is less than 15% which with the highest stability than others. All signature findings are given in Fig.1 and Fig.2. These results are entirely consistent with research hypotheses.

According to the characteristics of ink feeding and printing quality control principles, a new test sheet was designed for qualifying press state and the test results were discussed in this paper. This test sheet was printed under the condition that printing ink volume for different ink zone is identical. Solid density, dot gain and print contrast of different printing ink volume were simulated on a single test sheet, and thus the optimal printing status can be determined quickly. Experiment results show that this method is accessible, economic, and rapid. The optimum solid density values can be got easily for all primary colors on a single test sheet. This method is suit for the adjustment of printing status.

For high print quality, halftone dots should have minimal dot gain and sharp, circular edges, the receiving surface must have a line, high-porosity structure and be hydrophilic. Paper surface chemistry requirements for good inkjet print quality are so unconventional that new paper grades for printing should be specially designed. In this paper, the printability, coating structure and the color reproduction after printing of coated paper was studied.

By experimental method, the optimum parameters for offset ink were investigated under standard printing conditions. Firstly, the relationship between solid ink density and print contrast was established, and the optimum values of solid ink densities and print contrasts were calculated. Then, perfect tone reproduction was achieved by dot gain compensation, in which the calibration curves were obtained by the target curves and the initial tone value increase(TVI) curves based on optimum SIDs. The results showed that this method of determining the optimum parameters for offset inks were practicable and reliable, it can be used to research the printability of inks and papers, optimize printing process, improve printing quality, and provide method of standardization of process control for printing institutions.

The different paper has the different Surface Characteristic, which has the different influences on the printing color Reproduction. Through the paper printability, the color gamut experiments of digital printing, The influence of surface characteristics of paper on digital printing color reproduction was analyzed according to color rendering ability, The results indicated that the printed matter had better color efficiency, greater color gamut and smaller hue error and grayscale which had higher paper smoothness and glossiness, the higher paper whiteness is in favor of color reproduction. The surface characteristic of paper limits color reproduction. To ensure printing quality, should choose better color efficiency of paper.
