This study focuses on quality assurance in a laser welded axisymmetric sandwich structure that functions as the body of an electric machine. The manufacturing quality of the structure was measured using destructive testing and visual inspection. The destructive tests included both fatigue and static tests in addition to a macrographic examination. The visual inspection comprised ocular estimates of the laser welded seams as well as their requirements. Compared with the real working conditions of the machine, the experimental tests were exhaustive. Nevertheless, in the tests, the bodies held up very well which shows the great strength of the structure.

In the era of quality orientation, human rights, and a consumer-driven society, Nursing and Midwifery Education Institutions (NMEI) are expected to produce qualified graduates who will meet the needs and expectations of society. The aim of the study was to assess the internal quality assurance practices of Nursing and Midwifery Training Colleges (NMTCs) in the Northern Region of Ghana. An analytical cross-sectional design was adopted for the study with a sample size of eighty-eight (88). Purposive sampling method was used to select health tutors (participants) from three NMTCs in the Northern Region of Ghana. Data for the study were collected with a questionnaire and analysed. The study revealed that the NMTCs have quality assurance units/committees responsible for monitoring the quality of teaching and learning. In this study, only 39.8% of the health tutors were satisfied with the monitoring and inspection of training institutions by regulatory bodies. The results show a significant difference among the perspectives of the health tutors on the implementation of staff professional development (F(2, 87) = 4.74, p = .011), academic staffs motivation in the direction of refining the value of academic programs (F(2, 87) = 3.43, p = .037), working conditions of staffs (F(2, 87) = 3.32, p = .041) and the effectiveness of quality assurance systems in enhancing the quality of teaching and assessment (F(2, 87) = 3.27, p = .043). There is the need to ensure uniformity in staff professional development, working conditions, and motivation of health tutors in the training institutions. Regulatory bodies must intensify the monitoring of NMTCs and offer accreditation to new NMTCs based on the state of educational resources and facilities.

A successful quality assurance program in any organization needs good measurement systems. The concept of measurement system refers to the manpower, machines, materials, methods and mother nature involved in obtaining measurements. Measurement system analysis (MSA) is a set of procedures which are used to determine the amount of variation due to the measurement system and if the measurement data are valid. Most problematic measurement system issues come when the results of a measurement system are qualitative values such as “pass” or “fail” (attribute data) rather than quantitative values (variable data). Because in industry many measurement systems deal with qualitative data, the assessment of the visual inspection process is a contemporary approach for quality assurance in most manufacturing organizations. The aim of this paper is to apply the MSA attribute study in a local company from the Sibiu region supplying products for automotive industry, to ensure the quality of the visual inspection process for one of their parts, respectively the exterior lighting projectors (Day Running Light, DRLs). The output data were analyzed using Minitab software. The conclusion was that the visual inspection process must be improved by appraisers training and developing panel with samples for the most common defect types of DRLs.

Modern NIR analysers produce valuable data for closed-loop process control and optimisation practically in real time. Thus it is highly important to keep them in the best possible shape. Quality assurance (QA) of NIR analysers is an interesting and complex issue because it is not only the instrument and sample handling that has to be monitored. At the same time, validity of prediction models has to be assured. A system for fully automated QA of NIR analysers is described. The system takes care of collecting and organising spectra from various instruments, relevant laboratory, and process management system (PMS) data. Validation of spectra is based on simple diagnostics values derived from the spectra. Predictions are validated against laboratory (LIMS) or other online analyser results (collected from PMS). The system features automated alarming, reporting, trending, and charting functions for major key variables for easy visual inspection. Various textual and graphical reports are sent to maintenance people through email. The software was written with Borland Delphi 7 Enterprise. Oracle and PMS ODBC interfaces were used for accessing LIMS and PMS data using appropriate SQL queries. It will be shown that it is possible to take actions even before the quality of predictions is seriously affected, thus maximising the overall uptime of the instrument.

The paper deals with the modelling of the dynamics of farm tractors in order to simulate their motion on smooth or rough surface, on road or off road and in different loading situations. The aim is to develop reliable models to speed-up the design and development activities. The derived farm tractor models can simulate the working conditions of the farm tractor while hauling a plough or running at relatively high speed on a rough soil, or steering soil, or steering on a sloped, soft surface. Two models of farm tractors have been developed and experimentally validated. The first model is based on a proprietary software. able to quickly simulate the motion of a vehicle on smooth or rough soil. The second model has been developed with the software ADAMS/Car® which allows to model complicated transmission and suspension systems. In both of the models, the tires, the transmission system, the suspension system, the steering system, the engine and the body inertia are carefully described mathematically. Particular attention has been devoted to the measurements of the tire characteristic and of the inertia parameters of the farm tractor body. Both of the models are defined in a parametric way. Parameters sensitivity analysis a strong influence of the transmission system on the tractor dynamic response in all of the considered working conditions. Experimental tests have realized to validate the two models.

Research objective - assessment of the impact of working conditions and work experience on the quality of life of furniture production workers. Materials and methods. The assessment of the quality of life of 208 employees of the furniture factory "Maria" under various conditions of the production environment was carried out. The analysis of quality of life indicators for all scales of the SF-36 questionnaire took into account work experience and class of working conditions. Results. When assessing the quality of life of employees of a furniture production company, it is established that the quality of life depends on the class of working conditions. There was a significant decrease in quality of life indicators for those working in harmful working conditions corresponding to class 3.1, according to the SF-36 questionnaire scales responsible for mental health (social functioning, emotional functioning, mental health). When working in harmful working conditions, classified as class 3.2, these indicators tended to decrease not only on the scales of the SF-36 questionnaire, which are responsible for mental health, but also for the physical state of the body (role functioning, General health). At the same time, the dependence of quality of life indicators on the length of service in certain conditions of the labor process was studied. Thus, in the first two years of working in harmful working conditions (class 3.1, 3.2), there was no decrease in the quality of life of furniture production workers. However, when working for more than two years in similar working conditions, there was a significant decrease in the values of indicators of the quality of life of the subjects. Conclusions. It is proved that the longer the work experience in unfavorable working conditions, the lower the quality of life of furniture production workers.Noise as the main production factor in furniture factories, which leads to a decrease in the quality of life.

The article aims to preliminary analyze and identify the working conditions of an operator wearing disposable personal protective equipment and features and usability of the suit. The characteristics of the thermal image for an operator wearing a personal protection suit will be used as part of the IT system for comfort assessment. The system will allow the assessment of the operator's comfort based on thermograms. It will also detect dangerous situations resulting from the operator's work in such an outfit or overalls. The hazardous conditions for operators are related to the symptoms of thermal discomfort leading to overheating the body and, consequently, fainting. These situations may cause accidents and reduce the quality of the activities performed. The current legal status was considered when referring to selected social aspects in the management and quality of work of an operator wearing a COVID-19 protective suit. References are made to documents on legislative acts in Poland and Europe to limit the risk from biological agents. This part of the article refers to a vital study by Majchrzycka and Okrasa (2019, the Central Institute for Labor Protection - National Research Institute) presenting the rules for the safe use of non-biocidal respiratory protective equipment. This included obligations of the employer. The employer is obliged to take preventive measures against exposition of employees to harmful biological agents, including airtight measures and personal protective equipment. The article emphasizes selected medical aspects of working in personal protective clothing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Referring to the study (Sobolewski, 2014), according to the authors, the presented case reflects the working conditions of an operator wearing a disposable protective suit. Microclimate parameters and changing metabolism define the hot thermal environment in the mentioned standard. The article presents the results of thermovision inspection of the operator of technical means of transport working in a suit protecting against COVID-19 infection, constituting one-off personal protection. The individual elements included in the protective set of disposable personal protection have been described. The following research stage is preparing thermograms, which show the operator in a protective case before, during, and after work. Thermograms have been classified and commented on.

The employment of bales is of considerable interest in the agricultural sector due to the mechanization of the production chain, the ease of their manipulation and transport, the low requirements for, and flexibility of, their storage and the low manpower requirements. Forage bales are mainly employed in zootechny, which albeit with important changes, is today still an essential economic sector for our society. The optimization of results in the zootechnical field depends largely on the feeding of the animals; in this regard, fodder-crops play a fundamental role in the European agricultural and economic sector. The soil inside the fodder is often the vehicle for a large number of CFUs (colony forming units) of bacteria of the Clostridium genus, with consequent repercussions for the welfare of the cows as well as for the quality of the milk products. The purpose of this work was to assess the performance of the large square baler HD 1270, made by the Italian manufacturer “Cicoria Square Bales”, whose main characteristic is the high cleanliness level of the dried fodder. The experimental tests carried out seem to confirm the efficacy of the technical solutions adopted for this machine. However, in order to better understand the reliability of the machine in lowering the amount of impurities and soil present in the built square bales, further tests in different working conditions should be carried out in order to statistically evaluate the influence and the mutual interaction of the operating parameters.

The behavior of a wooden stress ribbon structures reinforced with steel rope under the action of a load evenly distributed along the entire length of the cable was investigated. The analysis of the results of static tests of the wooden reinforced cable of the VD-3.1 series is given. A criterion is proposed according to which a wooden stress ribbon structures reinforced with steel rope can be considered according to the theory of rigid threads. To ensure the stability and geometric invariance of the structures formed by rigid threads, an important role is played by taking into account the pliability of the supports that perceive the horizontal support reactions (spacing of the cable). Deformation of the supports of rigid cables causes the appearance of significant bending moments in the body of the cable, and also leads to an increase in the deflection of the structure. Therefore, special attention was paid to the study of the pliability of supports during the tests of wooden stress ribbon structures reinforced with steel rope to the action of a load evenly distributed along the length of the cable. The pliability of supports during experimental tests of wooden stress ribbon structures reinforced with steel rope was investigated. The obtained results are compared with the calculated value of the pliability of the supports, calculated based on the deformability of the installation for testing cable structures. The methods of calculating the deflections of the cables, which take into account the pliability of the supports, were tested. The influence of the pliability of the supports on the deflection of the cable is determined. At the level of the pliability of the supports, the deformability of the cable was influenced by the pliability of the nodal joints of the wooden elements of the cable. Based on this, the deformability of the joints of the wooden elements of the cable on the punched metal plate fasteners and its effect on the deflection of the cable were investigated. The coefficient of deformability of joints was suggested, which took into account the nonlinear dependence of the deformation of joints of wooden elements of the cable on the applied load. Due to the need to take into account the joint work of the wooden body of the cable and the steel rope, the calculated characteristics of the reduced cross section of the wooden cable reinforced with steel rope were calculated. A static calculation of a wooden stress ribbon structures reinforced with steel rope according to the theory of rigid threads is performed and the results of calculations are compared with experimental data.
