Copper tin selenide (Cu2SnSe3) nanoparticle powders were successfully synthesized via chemical precipitation method at room temperature. Elemental composition analysis determined byenergy dispersive X-ray confirmed that the Cu2SnSe3 nanoparticles were successfully formed. Field emission scanning electron and transmission electron micrograph showed the presence of homogeneous distribution of the small spherical nanoparticles in the Cu2SnSe3 powders. The thermal stability of the Cu2SnSe3 structure has been investigated by X-ray diffraction at temperatures ranging from 100 to 523 K. Differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis have been conducted to evaluate the thermal stability and it is found that the maximum temperature of the Cu2SnSe3 nanoparticles can withstand until 600 K. The results show that Cu2SnSe3 nanoparticles exhibited a stable structure at temperature range of 100 – 523 K.

Core/shell type nanoparticles with an average diameter of 20nm were synthesized by chemical precipitation method. Firstly, Monodisperse Fe3O4 nanoparticles were synthesized by solvethermal method. FeSO4ž7H2O and NaBH4 were respectively dissolved in distilled water, then moderated Fe3O4 particles and surfactant(PVP) were ultrasonic dispersed into the FeSO4ž7H2O solution. The resulting solution was stirred 2 h at room temperature. Fe could be deposited on the surface of monodispersed Fe3O4 nanoparticles to form core-shell particles. The particles were characterized by using various experimental techniques, such as transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), AGM and DTA. The results suggest that the saturation magnetization of the nanocomposites is 100 emu/g. The composition of the samples show monodisperse and the sides of the core/shell nanoparticles are 20-30nm. It is noted that the formation of Fe3O4/Fe nanocomposites magnetite nanoparticles possess superparamagnetic property.

Abstract Nanostructured and nanocomposite layers NiCoCrAlY+ ZrO2-7%Y2O3, ZrO2-7% Y2O3+HfO2-9%Y2O3, HfO2-9%Y2O3 with thickness of ∽ 20 μm were formed by low pressure plasma spraying. The structure and composition of the layers have been studied using a scanning electron microscopy, X-ray microanalysis, and XRD analysis. Thermal stability of the coatings has been analyzed using synchronous thermal analysis at temperatures up to 1600 °C. The results of structure and composition analysis of ZrO2-7%Y2O3+HfO2-9%Y2O3 layer suggest the formation ofnanocomposite co-doped regions of the ZrO2-HfO2-Y2O3 solid solution. The layer has greater thermal stability at temperatures up to 1600 ° C and a smaller subgrain size (∽ 33 nm) than for the ZrO2-7% Y2O3 and HfO2-9%Y2O3 layers.

Abstract Luminescent nanocomposite films, containing SrF 2 :Но up-conversion particles, were prepared by two different protocols from aqueous dispersions of TEMPO-oxidized cellulose nanofibrils (TOCNF) functionalized with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APS) without the use of organic solvents at pH = 4.0-4.5 and 9.0-9.5, respectively. Proposed synthetic protocols included formation of the films by drying the dispersions containing pre-hydrolyzed APS adsorbed onto TOCNF and SrF 2 :Но particles followed by heating at 105 °C. Hydrophobic (water contact angle 101 ± 2°), strong, and translucent TOCNF/SrF 2 :Но-APS films were prepared by casting from a solution at pH = 4.0-4.5. Scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy with element mapping, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction methods confirmed homogeneous distribution of up-conversion particles in TOCNF matrices as well as the grafting of linear polysiloxanes via the condensation of silanol groups and OH-groups on the surface of TOCNF. Differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetry data confirmed an increase in thermal stability of the APS modified nanocomposite films obtained at pH = 4.0-4.5. Hydrophobic TOCNF/SrF 2 :Но-APS nanocomposite films exhibited an intense red luminescence in the visible spectrum range ( 5 I 7 level excitation of Ho 3+ ions with 1912 nm laser irradiation) as well as two-times higher laser damage threshold compared to unmodified TOCNF/SrF 2 :Но films. TOCNF/SrF 2 :Но films can be used for visualization 2 μm laser radiation in medicine and long-distance atmosphere monitoring.

Europium-doped hydroxyapatite Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2 (3% mol) powders were synthesized by an optimized chemical precipitation method at 25 °C, followed by drying at 120 °C and calcination at 450 °C and 900 °C. The obtained nanosized crystallite samples were investigated by means of a combination of inductively coupled plasma (ICP) spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), Raman and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopies. The Rietveld refinement in the hexagonal P63/m space group showed europium ordered at the Ca2 site at high temperature (900 °C), and at the Ca1 site for lower temperatures (120 °C and 450 °C). FTIR and Raman spectra showed slight band shifts and minor modifications of the (PO4) bands with increasing annealing temperature. PL spectra and decay curves revealed significant luminescence emission for the phase obtained at 900 °C and highlighted the migration of Eu from the Ca1 to Ca2 site as a result of increasing calcinating temperature.

The structure and thermal characteristics of nanocomposites based on polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and montmorillonite (MMT) intercalated with polyvinylpyrrolidone were investigated by X-ray diffraction analysis and differential scanning calorimetry. The modification of PVA with intercalated MMT reduces the degree of crystallinity of the resulting nanocomposites but significantly increases their thermal stability. Under ultrasound, the intercalated MMT was completely distributed in a PVA solution and formed a monocrystalline structure. Films based on PVA with modified MMT were cross-linked at 110°C in the presence of 5 wt% acrylic acid and 0.5 wt% Ferrous(II) sulfate as an initiator. The formed films have a homogeneous cross-linked structure.

Supramolecular hydrogels were formed through F127, acryloyl chloride modified F127 inclusion complex with α-cyclodextrin, respectively. The structure of modified copolymers and inclusion complex was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and hydrogen nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR). Hydrogels formed from supramolecular inclusion are imparted channel-type structure investigated by wide angle x-ray diffraction (WAXRD). Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and TG experiments showed that thermal stability of hydrogels depend on the nature of axis polymer. The relative model was proposed to elucidate the inclusion complexes and hydrogels formation.

Bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) of Cu45Zr48-xAl7Tix with x= 0, 1.5, and 3 at.% were prepared by copper mould casting. The corrosion resistance of the BMGs with different Ti contents was examined by potentiodynamic polarization tests and weight loss measurements in 1 N NaOH, 1 N H2SO4, 1 N H2SO4 + 0.01 N NaCl and 0.5 N NaCl solutions, respectively. The newly-developed BMGs’ corrosion resistance in Cl-- or both H+ and Cl--ions containing solutions can be greatly enhanced. The influence of Ti addition on glass forming ability (GFA) and thermal stability was investigated by x-ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry in detail. The alloy containing 1.5 at.% Ti exhibits the largest GFA, the critical size comes up to 10 mm in diameter.
