The purpose of this study was to examine the perceptions of automobile industries workshop craftsmen in relation to the integration of automobile mechatronics technology into the curriculum of automobile trade programmes in technical colleges in Nigeria. Three research questions guided the study. A survey research design was adopted for the study. The population for the study is 31 comprising 23 automobile industries workshop craftsmen who are currently working in automobile companies in Enugu state, and eight (8) automobile trades’ technical teachers in technical colleges in Enugu state. A structured questionnaire titled Instrument for Integrating Automobile Mechatronics Sub-systems (IIAMS) was used for data collection. Two experts from the Department of Industrial Technical Education, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and one expert from Anambra Motor Manufacturing Company (ANAMCO) face validated the instrument. The reliability co-efficient of the instrument was found to be 0.87 using Cronbach Alpha. Data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation for the research questions, while t-test was used to test the null hypotheses. The results of the study indicate that that automobile craftsmen find difficulties in servicing some automobile mechatronics sub-systems, while 16 mechatronics sub-systems were agreed on to be integrated into the automobile curriculum. It was recommended that these mechatronics sub-systems should be integrated into technical college curriculum and that technical colleges should partner with automobile industries for effective training of craftsmen. The study will contribute positively to the understanding of automobile mechatronics technology, and how it can be integrated into the curriculum.

This study was carried out to determine the measures for promoting democracy in a depressed economy through business education for national security in Enugu State. Two research questions and two null hypotheses were used for the study. The study adopted a survey research design. The population for the study was 41 business educators from four government owned tertiary institutions in Enugu State. There was no sampling since the population was manageable. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire developed by the researchers and validated by the experts. The reliability of the instrument was determined using Cronbach Alpha, which yielded an overall index 0.72. Mean and standard deviation were used in answering research questions while hypotheses were tested using t-test. It was found that governmental measures items promoted democracy through business education for national security. The study also revealed that lecturers‟ measures also promotes democracy through business education for national security. It was recommended that: government should make adequate budgetary provision for business education. Democrats should be involved in business teacher‟s conferences and seminars.

Purpose: The aim of the study was to identify the strategies required in improving industrial training programs between local businesses and Technical colleges in Enugu State in Nigeria. Approach/Methodology/Design: Three Research questions and hypotheses guided the study. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population for the study was 125 students from Government Technical College Enugu and Government Technical College in Nsukka, 23 owners of local businesses in Enugu state, 35 teachers from Government Technical College Enugu and Government Technical College in Nsukka and 10 co-coordinators from the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) Enugu State. A structured questionnaire was used for data collection. The reliability co-efficiency of the instrument was found to be 0.83. Data collected were analyzed using mean for the research questions, while the null hypotheses were tested using Independent sample t-test at 0.05 level of significance. Findings: Based on the findings, recommendations were made among which are; Local businesses should liaise with technical colleges to fashion out a suitable industrial training program that will improve students’ experience. More funds should be provided by Government to improve the industrial training program. Practical Implications: The study will contribute positively to the understanding of industrial training program in technical colleges. Originality/value: This study innovates by suggesting strategies to improve the industrial training program between local businesses and technical colleges.

The study was a survey research conducted to investigate the strategies for enhancing leadership competencies among technical education students of Nigeria Universities for national security. The study was conducted in Enugu State of Nigeria. The population for the study was made up of 113 final year students of technical education in Enugu State. Two research questions and two null hypotheses were tested at .05 significant levels guided the study. A 31- items questionnaire was constructed and validated and its reliability of 0.77 was used to generate data from the respondents. The research questions were analyzed using mean and standard deviation, while t-test was used to test the null hypotheses. The findings of the study showed that all the strategies identified are essential for enhancing leadership competencies among technical education students for national security. The study concluded among other things that leadership failure is the major factor responsible for inability of leaders to manager national insecurity. It was recommended among others, that technical education planners should inculcate in the curriculum leadership skills that would help students to be effective future leaders for national security.

This study appraised fabrication and welding students’ employability skills in Ogun State technical colleges. Two research questions were raised in relation to the focus of the study. A structured Questionnaire containing 15 items was developed and used for data collection. The questionnaire was validated by 3 experts and tested for reliability using Cronbach Alpha Coefficient at 0.96. The questionnaire was used for collecting data from 57 respondents made by fabrication and welding industrial-based supervisors in Ogun State. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions raised in the study. The study affirmed that fabrication and welding students in Ogun State technical colleges possessed sheet metalwork skills and gas welding skills. The study recommended among others that adequate supervision and monitoring of TVET institution’s students on industrial attachment should be ensured by TVET institution’s administrators and that industrial-based supervisors should be objective in discharging their duties during students’ industrial attachment period.

<p>This research paper aimed at determining the impact of material reinforcement on primary school pupils’ cognitive and affective behaviours in the classroom situations. Two research purposes, research questions and two hypotheses guided the study. Expose-factor research design was adopted. The sample for the study was 557 pupils. Questionnaire was used in data collection. Mean standard deviation and t-test were applied in answering the research questions while t-test was used in the analysis of the data. Results obtained indicated that material reinforcement influenced both cognitive and affective behaviours of primary school pupils significantly.</p>

This study examined the gender disparity towards students’ enrollment in technical education in Rivers State. A sample of 403 students (362 Male and 41 Female) was selected through simple random sampling technique from Rivers State University (RIVSU) and Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUOE), Port Harcourt from the Department of Technical Education. Three research questions were posed to guide the study and two Null hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significant. Structured questionnaire was used to collect data. A reliability coefficient of 0.83 was established through Cronbach Alpha using test-retest method. Data were analyzed using mean and standard deviation for research questions and hypotheses were tested using the independent sample t-test. The study revealed amongst others that poverty, preference of male child, cultural and religious beliefs were causes of female folks low enrollment into technical education programmes in Rivers State. Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended amongst others that; allowances, scholarships, employment opportunities should be given to female students in order to enhance their enrolments into technical education programmmes in Rivers State.

This study was on identification of job skills in Aloe Vera production for income diversification among farmers in Taraba State. Specific objectives for the study were to: identify the skills in pre-planting operations for Aloe Vera production, determine the skills in planting operations for Aloe Vera production, identify the skills in post-planting operationsfor Aloe Vera production, determine the skills in harvesting operations for Aloe Vera production in Taraba State.Four research questions were raised and answered; four hypotheses were formulated and tested at P≤0.05 level of significance. The design for the study was survey research design. The population for the study was 401 respondentsconsisting of 285 registered farmers in Taraba State and 116 Agricultural Extension Agents in Taraba State. A structured questionnaire titled: Aloe Vera Production Skills Questionnaire (APSQ) was used for data collection. Mean was used to answer the research questions, while t-test was used to test the hypotheses at P≤0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study revealed that: 15 skills in pre planting of Aloe Vera, seven skills in planting of Aloe Vera, five skills in post planting of Aloe Vera and6 skills in harvesting operations in Aloe Vera production. It was therefore recommended that the 35 job skills identified by this study be packed into a training manual and used for training farmers for income diversification in Taraba State.

The purpose of this study was to investigate whether the present curriculum being used to the development of technological manpower in our technical colleges is relevant, adequate in content, effective and enough to make the recipients self-employed for sustainable poverty alleviation. A total of 50 respondent comprising 20 technical teachers and 30 final year students from technical colleges formed the sample of the study. A set of questionnaire was used for data collection while the target population was all teachers and students. A total of three research questions were and simple percentage was used to analyze the data collected. The findings revealed that, the currently used curriculum in technical colleges is inadequate, not very relevant, no enough time for practical and cannot earn the products self-employment for sustainable poverty alleviation. For a country to keep abreast of being competitive in global economy technical and vocational education must play a critical role. For long time, technical and vocational education disciplines have been in cache, living graduates unable to connect learned knowledge with real life problems. The emergence of integrating technical education with entrepreneurial competencies in some institutions in Nigeria advocates transformative changes both at the conceptual and technological levels. One of the challenge facing technical education in Nigeria is lack of appropriate entrepreneurial competencies in the content of technical college curriculum. The purpose of the study was to explore the challenge facing the integration of entrepreneurial competencies into the technical college curriculum. This study uses phenomenological research design method was guided by interview protocol, thus the data were qualitatively collected. This research involved ten experts from three technical institutions in Kano state Nigeria based on their educational background, field of teaching and experience in entrepreneurship education. The study found that poor funding, lack of qualified teachers, inappropriate curriculum and negative attitude toward on entrepreneurship education are the main challenges hindering the integration of entrepreneurial competencies into technical college programs in Nigeria. It is recommended that the need for an appropriate entrepreneurial competencies for technical college programs this will facilitate easy and rapid self-employment among the graduates to enable them become novice entrepreneurs for self-reliance. Consequently, 20 per cent of public expenditure should be allocated to bridge the gap in funding education
