AbstractThis research aims to analyze four types of deixis by using theory of Alan Cruse (2000), interpret the reference meaning of deixis and find out the most dominant type of deixis that found in the song lyrics of Taylor Swift “22”. it consists of such deictic words that has reference meanings. Therefore, the song lyrics can be analyzed using pragmatic approach,specifically about deixis. This study was conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The data which is used is the song of Taylor Swift “22” and then it is classified into the types of deixis. The findings showed that the types of deixis like person deixis, spatial deixis, temporal deixis, and discourse deixis are used in the song lyrics of Taylor Swift “22”. Based on discussion and finding can be concluded that all deixis are found in all songs, personal deixis is the most being found (15 Deictic words or 51,7%) the word “I, Me, You and We dominate all songs. in the second position Discourse Deixis is found (8 deictic words or 27,6%) and Spatial Deixis (5 deictic words or 17,2%), in the last position is Temporal Deixis (1 Deictic words or 3,4% )Keywords: pragmatics, deixis, song lyric

The aim of the research is to analyze the three types of deixis analysis using Yule’s (1996) theory and interpret the reference meaning of deixis that are found in the Lewis Capaldi’s “Breach” album song lyrics. The researchers selected this song as subject of analysis because the popularity of the song and also it consisted of such as deictic words. Therefore, the “Breach” album song lyrics can be analyzed by using pragmatic approach especially using theory of Yule (1996) about deixis analysis. This study was conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The kind of this research is content analysis. The data which used song lyrics of Lewis Capaldi’s “Breach” album (2018). In addition, this song was classified into three types of deixis analysis based on their own criteria. The result of this research showed that the three types of deixis using Yule’s theory such as person deixis, spatial deixis and temporal deixis are used in the Lewis Capaldi’s “Breach” album. The most dominant type of deixis in this research were found is person deixis with 11 data (55%), spatial deixis with 6 data (30%), and temporal deixis with 3 data (15%). The use of person deixis indicated the participant in this song. While, the spatial deixis indicated location and place of event from the participant. Moreover, the temporal deixis indicated the timing of speech event which is used in this song.

The main purpose of this research is to analyze three types of deixis in Adele’s song lyrics. Then, the song lyrics can be analyzed using pragmatic approach, especially about deixis. Then, the song lyrics can be analyzed using pragmatic approach, specifically about deixis. This research applied descriptive qualitative methodThis research applied descriptive qualitative method. The researcher elects lyrics of the most popular songs of Adele’s Album 25. The data ware taken from one of three song lyrics in Adele’s album 25 entitled Hello for identifying and classifying the deixis into their types (person deixis, spatial deixis, and temporal deixis). Based on the results and discussion can be concluded that all deixis found in song lyrics, there are 53 words include of kinds of deixis. the person deixis was found on  adele’s song as the most dominant type (43 deictic words or 75%). Second position, deixis spatial is the most found (9 deictic words or 17%), and in the last position is temporal deixis (4 deictic words or 8%)

The title of this research is analyzing the Deixis of Song Lyrics in Adele entitled “All I Ask”. The researchers used a descriptive qualitative method in this research. This research are aimed to find out the types of deixis (Personal, Spatial, and Temporal) and the most dominant deixis which found in the lyrics of Adele's song. Based on the results and discussion, the researchers concluded that all deixis which proposed by Yule are found in Adele’s song lyrics. Personal deixis is mostly found in 38 occurrences dominate in this song. The words are “I, me, we, our, ours, us, and my” as the first person deixis, “you, and your” as the second person deixis, and “they and it” as the third person deixis. In the second position is spatial deixis, this, and in your eyes which found in 5 occurrences. The third position is temporal deixis, coming next, tomorrow, and last night which found in 3 occurrences. Keywords:  Deixis, Song, Lyric

The title of this research is deixis in the Song Lyrics “Level of Concern” by Twenty One Pilots. The objectives of this research are to identify the type of deixis and to find out the dominant types of deixis that are mostly used in the song lyrics entitled Level of Concern. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The researchers took the data from (Joseph, 2020) of the song lyric entitled “Level of Concern” by Twenty One Pilots, for it describes the current world situation, and the lyrics of the song contains a wide range of deixis that have attracted the researchers to examine this song. After conducting this research, the researchers concluded that three types of deixis namely personal, spatial, and temporal deixis. Personal deixis divided into three parts: the first person as speaker, the second person as hearer and the third person as others, with 77 words in that song. Temporal deixis showed a certain period of time which consist of 3 words, and the spatial deixis describes the location in a conversation which consist of  2 words. The major type from the whole data are personal deixis, because they represent the singer and the message which wanted to be delivered to the listeners. Keywords:  Pragmatic, Deixis, Song Lyric

AbstractThis research is entitled An Analysis of Figurative Language in Taylor Swift's song lyrics it aims to know the types of figurative language that are used in Taylor swift lyrics and describe the contextual meaning of the figurative language used in Taylor's lyrics. The research data is obtained from two songs from one albumof Taylor Swift. The album titled Red with three songs taken entitles Red and 22. This research uses descriptive qualitative method in observation and library research in collecting data of this research. Figurative language found consists of simile, metaphor, hyperbole, paradox, irony and personification. In this research, these findingsshow that hyperbole is the most dominant in Taylor Swift’s song and based on the contextual meaning of overall song lyrics of Taylor Swift tell about conflict, pain heart and deeply treachery.Keywords: song, lyric, figurative language, contextual meaning

AbstractThe aim of this study was to identify the types of figurative language used in the lyric of Saif Adam songs and the dominant types of figurative language found in the lyric of Saif Adam songs. The method used in this study is a descrptive qualitative method. This research used the theory of Perrine. The researcher found 8 types of figurative language used in Saif Adam’s song lyrics such as hyperbole, irony, metaphor, personification, simile, litotes, metonymy, and paradox. The data were collected by reading the lyrics of Saif Adam’s song. There were 14 of hyperbole, 3 of Irony, 20 of metaphor, 11 of personification, 10 of simile, 5 of litotes, 10 of metonymy, and 7 of paradox. This study found that the most dominant type of figurative language was metaphor with the percentage of 25%. It was followed by hyperbole with the percentage of 17.5%. Then, it was followed by personification with percentage 13.75%,. simile and metonymy with the percentage of 11.3%. And also it was followed by paradox and litotes with the proportion of 7.9% and 5.6%. Irony was the least dominant one with the percentage of only 3.4%.Key words :  Semantics, Figurative language, Song, Religious Song, Lyric.

A Deixis Analysis of Song Lyrics in Queen “I Want to Break Free”. The aim of the research are to analyze the three types of deixis analysis using Yule (1996) theory and to identify the dominant deixis found in the lyrics. Researchers chose this song as the subject of analysis because of the song's popularity and it also consisted of deictic words and reference meanings. This study was conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The data this research are lyrics of “I want to break free” song by Queen. In addition, this song was classified into three types of deixis analysis based on their own criteria. The result of the research showed that there are three types of deixis found in the song. They are: Person deixis (94%), Spatial deixis: (3%), Temporal deixis: (3%). In addition, the highest percentage of all is Person deixis. Poetry is a feeling expression that uses chosen words, that is not predicted and has powerful meaning. Kennedy and Gioia explain that poetry is another way to say or another term is poem. A poem usually will make some sense and give some pleasure, but it may not yield everything at once. Many kinds of poetry, one of them is song lyric. A good song lyric has good sound devices. Sound device is one of the characteristics of poetry. The aims of the final project are: (1) to find out how Fallen single lyrics contribute to language teaching of poetry, (2) to find out sound devices are used in Fallen lyrics. This final project applied descriptive qualitative method. The data in this final project is collected by downloading from internet and also gathering the other data and theories from some related books from library. The data is analyzed by five steps. First, the songs were listened carefully. Second, reading the song lyrics. Third, the song lyrics were classified in sound devices. Fourth, the song lyrics were analyzed with alliteration, assonance, consonance and rhyme. And the last, reporting the result. The result of this final project can be briefly in clear description as follow. They are eleven songs in the Fallen album. The researcher found out four kinds of sound devices in the song lyrics. They are alliteration, assonance, consonance and rhyme. Based on the song lyrics of Fallen album that analyzed the final project. They are 106 assonances, 63 consonances, 61 alliterations and 24 rhymes (14 internal rhymes, 6 perfect rhymes, 3 end rhymes and 1 imperfect rhymes). Fallen single lyrics can contribute to language teaching poetry. Lyrics in the fallen album are easy to be analyzed by students. Besides on those sound devices of Fallen album can make students enjoy in learn poetry. Students can get knowledge more about correlation between poetry and song, they can find out elements of poetry through song and be more creative in learning English.

The aims of this research to find deixis and spatial deixis used of song lyrics from King of Dangdut by Rhoma Irama. Descriptive qualitative method used to collect the data. The classified into type of deixis on the own criteria and the findings that the types of deixis like person deixis and spatial deixis used song lyrics of Rhoma irama. From the result, it can be concluded that person deixis and spatial deixis of finding and discussion is found in all song lyrics, personal deixis is the most being founding 81 words that is the word “Aku, Daku, Ku, Kamu, Mu, and Nya, dominate all songs. The position is the spatial deixis 20 words. Language is a means or tool of communication. People have used language as the most common way to communicate with each other. Language is a system of arbitrary vocal symbols by means of which a social group cooperates. When people used language, they bound between one and another, called meaning. The meaning itself sometimes can be interpreted by other people easily, while some of them are not. Metaphorical meaning is the hidden meaning in some literary works, such as song, poem, poetry, and drama, that be able to give a new perspective to the readers or listeners. This research analyse the metaphorical meaning in some of BTS’s song, and its relation to the people who listen to their songs. The objective of this research is to analyze metaphorical entailment in BTS‘s song lyrics through a semantic perspective, and how the metaphorical meaning in BTS’s song in giving new hope to the listener. This research is a Qualitative, specifically descriptive qualitative method. There were two kinds of data in this research to support in analyzing process; the BTS’s song lyrics and interview session. The BTS’s song lyric was from the website, and an interview session was done by two correspondents that passed the criteria.
