The aim of the research is to analyze the three types of deixis analysis using Yule’s (1996) theory and interpret the reference meaning of deixis that are found in the Lewis Capaldi’s “Breach” album song lyrics. The researchers selected this song as subject of analysis because the popularity of the song and also it consisted of such as deictic words. Therefore, the “Breach” album song lyrics can be analyzed by using pragmatic approach especially using theory of Yule (1996) about deixis analysis. This study was conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The kind of this research is content analysis. The data which used song lyrics of Lewis Capaldi’s “Breach” album (2018). In addition, this song was classified into three types of deixis analysis based on their own criteria. The result of this research showed that the three types of deixis using Yule’s theory such as person deixis, spatial deixis and temporal deixis are used in the Lewis Capaldi’s “Breach” album. The most dominant type of deixis in this research were found is person deixis with 11 data (55%), spatial deixis with 6 data (30%), and temporal deixis with 3 data (15%). The use of person deixis indicated the participant in this song. While, the spatial deixis indicated location and place of event from the participant. Moreover, the temporal deixis indicated the timing of speech event which is used in this song.

AbstractThis research aims to analyze four types of deixis by using theory of Alan Cruse (2000), interpret the reference meaning of deixis and find out the most dominant type of deixis that found in the song lyrics of Taylor Swift “22”. it consists of such deictic words that has reference meanings. Therefore, the song lyrics can be analyzed using pragmatic approach,specifically about deixis. This study was conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The data which is used is the song of Taylor Swift “22” and then it is classified into the types of deixis. The findings showed that the types of deixis like person deixis, spatial deixis, temporal deixis, and discourse deixis are used in the song lyrics of Taylor Swift “22”. Based on discussion and finding can be concluded that all deixis are found in all songs, personal deixis is the most being found (15 Deictic words or 51,7%) the word “I, Me, You and We dominate all songs. in the second position Discourse Deixis is found (8 deictic words or 27,6%) and Spatial Deixis (5 deictic words or 17,2%), in the last position is Temporal Deixis (1 Deictic words or 3,4% )Keywords: pragmatics, deixis, song lyric

The main purpose of this research is to analyze three types of deixis in Adele’s song lyrics. Then, the song lyrics can be analyzed using pragmatic approach, especially about deixis. Then, the song lyrics can be analyzed using pragmatic approach, specifically about deixis. This research applied descriptive qualitative methodThis research applied descriptive qualitative method. The researcher elects lyrics of the most popular songs of Adele’s Album 25. The data ware taken from one of three song lyrics in Adele’s album 25 entitled Hello for identifying and classifying the deixis into their types (person deixis, spatial deixis, and temporal deixis). Based on the results and discussion can be concluded that all deixis found in song lyrics, there are 53 words include of kinds of deixis. the person deixis was found on  adele’s song as the most dominant type (43 deictic words or 75%). Second position, deixis spatial is the most found (9 deictic words or 17%), and in the last position is temporal deixis (4 deictic words or 8%)

The title of this research is analyzing the Deixis of Song Lyrics in Adele entitled “All I Ask”. The researchers used a descriptive qualitative method in this research. This research are aimed to find out the types of deixis (Personal, Spatial, and Temporal) and the most dominant deixis which found in the lyrics of Adele's song. Based on the results and discussion, the researchers concluded that all deixis which proposed by Yule are found in Adele’s song lyrics. Personal deixis is mostly found in 38 occurrences dominate in this song. The words are “I, me, we, our, ours, us, and my” as the first person deixis, “you, and your” as the second person deixis, and “they and it” as the third person deixis. In the second position is spatial deixis, this, and in your eyes which found in 5 occurrences. The third position is temporal deixis, coming next, tomorrow, and last night which found in 3 occurrences. Keywords:  Deixis, Song, Lyric

A Deixis Analysis of Song Lyrics in Queen “I Want to Break Free”. The aim of the research are to analyze the three types of deixis analysis using Yule (1996) theory and to identify the dominant deixis found in the lyrics. Researchers chose this song as the subject of analysis because of the song's popularity and it also consisted of deictic words and reference meanings. This study was conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The data this research are lyrics of “I want to break free” song by Queen. In addition, this song was classified into three types of deixis analysis based on their own criteria. The result of the research showed that there are three types of deixis found in the song. They are: Person deixis (94%), Spatial deixis: (3%), Temporal deixis: (3%). In addition, the highest percentage of all is Person deixis. The research was related to figurative language but the researchers focused on simile, aimed at identifying the dominant type of simile used based on the theory put forward by Kennedy and Giola. Simile is a comparison of one thing to another which is always listed because the words "like" or as are used. Simile is also commonly used in song lyrics and this is referred to as the object of the research, that is the song lyrics taken by Lenka’s song Everything at Once. The researchers take this song because all the lyrics are full of similes, from the beginning to the end of the song. Qualitative content analysis as the use of replicable and valid methods to make specific inferences from the text to other circumstances or properties of the source under the Descriptive Qualitative Approach, pioneered by Krippendorff  is applied here. The results show that there are two types of simile in this song and the dominant types used in this song is close simile.

The aims of this research to find deixis and spatial deixis used of song lyrics from King of Dangdut by Rhoma Irama. Descriptive qualitative method used to collect the data. The classified into type of deixis on the own criteria and the findings that the types of deixis like person deixis and spatial deixis used song lyrics of Rhoma irama. From the result, it can be concluded that person deixis and spatial deixis of finding and discussion is found in all song lyrics, personal deixis is the most being founding 81 words that is the word “Aku, Daku, Ku, Kamu, Mu, and Nya, dominate all songs. The position is the spatial deixis 20 words. It can be seen of the result analysis person deixis and spatial deixis can be many found in the six-song lyrics. Keywords:  Person deixis, Spatial deixis, Music

The aim of this study is to analyze the types of figurative language which found in Ugly Love novel by Colleen Hoover. This study used figurative language theory by Leech to analyze the data which the researcher found in the novel. The method of this study is descriptive qualitative method. The total of the data are 87 data to be analyzed in the types of figurative language. The data will be identify and classify into 8 types of figurative language by Leech. The result of this study found 6 types of figurative language in this Ugly Love novel. That are 33 data of personifications (33 data) , 19 data of similes, 11 data of irony, 10 data of hyperbole, 9 data of metaphors, and 5 data of metonymy. The most of dominant type of figurative language in the Ugly Love novel by Colleen Hoover is personification.

This study which entitled “Deixis in The Novel Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie” Deixis described the relationship between language and context and the objectives of this study were (1) to find out the utterances of a major character, M. Poirot, and types of the deixis in The Novel Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie. (2) to describe the reference of each type of deixis in the Novel Murder on the Orient Express. This study applied the descriptive qualitative method. The result of this study showed that there were three types of deixis found in the utterances of a major character, M. Poirot in the novel Murder on the Orient Express, namely personal deixis (73 data), temporal deixis (18 data), and spatial deixis (9 data). The referent of the personal deixis found referred to all passenger in the Orient Express, temporal deixis refers to the time of utterance was uttered and the murder of Ratchett occurred, spatial deixis referred to the Orient Express itself.

The article deals with the translation strategies used in Toba Dream Movie. The objectives of this study were to find out types and most dominant type of translation strategies used in the subtitles of Toba Dream movie. The study was conducting by using descriptive qualitative method. The data of the study were words, phrases, and clauses in the subtitle of  Toba  Dream movie, there  were 425 dialogues in the movie. The data analysis were taken by listing and tabulating the data. The data were analyzed based on the theory that proposed by Henrik Gottlieb. The findings inducted that there  were ten types of translation strategies used in the movie, they were there were (319 times)used transfer strategy,  (37 times) used paraphrase, (27 times) used dislocation, (20 times)used resignation, (10times) used expansion, (5 times)used decimation, (4 times) utterances which used condesation, (1time) used imitation, (1time) used transcription and (1time) used deletion. The dominant strategy used in the subtitles of Toba Dream movie was transfer strategy where the translator  translated the dialogues completely and correctly.

Abstract: The current study entitled “A Morphological Analysis of Slang Words Used by Characters In Ralph Breaks the Internet Movie” aimed to investigate the morphological processes of constructing slang words and its meaning of the  found slang words used by the movie characters. This research used a descriptive qualitative method with content analysis design. The findings revealed that there are 42 slang words categorized into different morphological processes included compound (14,28%), clipping (11,90%), blending (14,28%), affixations (16,66%), reduplicative (7,14%), backformation (2,4%), abbreviation (2,4%), conversion (4,76%), alternation (14,28%), extension (4,76%) and word manufacture (7,14%). This study demonstrated the meaning changes of the slang words that have been affected through certain morphological processes by modifying their word category. Consequently, some slang terms have preserved the original meaning despite the changes in their spelling. In the meantime, certain slang words get abbreviated or shortened and retained their original meaning. Meanwhile, some slang words change their meaning by deriving their word category. Besides, there were certain slang words that change their meaning depending on word usage.Key words: morphology, Ralph Breaks the Internet, slangAbstrak. Penelitian yang berjudul “Analisis Morfologi Kata-kata Slang yang Digunakan oleh karakter dalam Film ‘Ralph Breaks the Internet’” bertujuan untuk menelaah proses morfologi dalam membangun kata-kata slang dan maknanya yang digunakan dalam film tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan desain analisis isi. Data temuan menunjukkan  42 kata slang yang dikategorikan ke dalam proses morfologi yang berbeda, yaitu ‘compound’ (14,28%), ‘clipping’ (11,90%), ‘blending’ (14,28%). , ‘affixations’ (16,66%), ‘reduplicative’ (7,14%), ‘backformation’ (2,4%), ‘abbreviation’ (2,4%), ‘conversion’ (4,76%), ‘alternation’ (14,28%), ‘extension’ (4,76%) dan ‘word manufacture’ (7,14%). Hasilnya beberapa istilah dalam kata slang tetap mempertahankan makna aslinya meskipun ejaannya berubah. Sementara itu, kata-kata slang tertentu disingkat dan tetap mempertahankan arti aslinya. Beberapa kata slang lainnya berubah makna dengan mengubah kategori katanya. Selain itu, beberapa kata-kata slang tertentu berubah maknanya tergantung dari penggunaan kata.Kata kunci: morfologi, Ralph Breaks the Internet, slang
