With the face of a highly uncertain market environment, an empirical study of researchers in Henan Province found that improvisational behavior has a positive effect on innovation performance, and that team tenure heterogeneity has a significant moderating effect between improvisational behavior and innovative performance. Therefore, we propose a coping strategy to improve innovative performance form the use of team tenure heterogeneity to form a scientific research team and create an environment conducive to improvisational behavior.

The literature suggests that innovation allows organizations to reach a desirable level of sustainability. There is evidence to support the role of knowledge management (KM) as well as management capability (MC) in producing a sustainable approach at organizations. Furthermore, organizations commonly achieve sustainable practices through corporate social responsibility (CSR). In particular, the health sector is increasingly implementing CSR strategies, although with a narrow understanding of the factors to success. Hence, trends lead to asymmetric growth between organizations. This study aims to examine the mediating role of KM in the relationship between MC and innovative performance (IP) in 331 Health Provider Institutions (HPIs). The research reflective model was assessed through Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). According to the results, MC has a positive effect on IP, MC has a positive effect on KM, and KM has a positive effect on IP. Likewise, KM significantly mediates the relationship between MC and IP. Our findings support the importance of KM in addressing MCs in HPIs as it enables innovative practices to address CSR goals to achieve a sustainable impact. Moreover, this study contributes by expanding KM to contexts that are not usually studied, such as health in a South American country.

The construction industry should seek to enrich its workforces due to the increasing lack of trained and skilled employees. This study attempts to investigate the relationship between encouragement-based management mechanism (EMM) and manpower development (MD) in construction firms and examine the moderating effect of firm size on this relationship by conducting bivariate Pearson correlation and hierarchical multiple regression analyses to analyse empirical data collected from 79 construction firms in Vietnam. The results show that EMM positively affected MD, and this positive effect was stronger in small/medium-sized construction firms than in large firms. The findings could provide construction firms in Vietnam, as well as other developing countries, with a better understanding of the effect of EMM on MD. Hence, they could establish appropriate and wise encouragement-based strategies to enhance their manpower. This study could contribute to the extant literature on construction manpower development by providing empirical evidence of the EMM−MD relationship in the context of construction firms.

Although research exists on the relationship between passion and engagement among employees, the mechanisms of academic passion on academic engagement among students needs to be elucidated. Guided by the broaden-and-build and situated cognition theories, we explored the positive effect of academic passion on academic engagement, the mediating effect of academic self-efficacy, and the role of teacher developmental feedback as a moderator in the relationship between academic passion and academic engagement. Based on a sample of 1,029 college students from universities in the Henan Province of China, the results showed that academic passion was positively related to academic engagement, academic self-efficacy partially mediated the relationship between academic passion and academic engagement, and teacher developmental feedback effectively moderated the relationship between academic passion and academic engagement. These findings explained the mechanism underlying the relationship between academic passion and academic engagement. Moreover, the findings highlighted important factors that promote college students' academic engagement.

The study selected 410 companies on Viet Nam’s Stock Exchange during the period from 2012 to 2016, with 2050 observations as a sample of research, to analyze the relationship between cash holdings and investment levels. The findings show that cash holdings has a positive effect on investment levels: the higher cash holdings, the greater investment level. Also, the results show that investment levels are affected by the return on total assets but not affected by the size of the company. The research is empirical evidence that contributes to the limited investment in research in Vietnam and is a reference for those interested in investing in Vietnam and managers in strategic policy formulation.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to identify the effect of halal certification on innovative and market business performance of halal-certified food companies in the Philippines. Through this empirical study, halal-registered and about-to-register companies would have a wider perspective and a realistic view on what to expect from halal certification. The study also hopes to enrich halal certification literature and contribute further to the better understanding of the relationship between halal certification and the business performance. Design/methodology/approach This empirical study primarily uses a quantitative approach in analyzing the relationship between halal certification and the business performance in terms of innovative and market performance. The primary data are gathered through a survey involving 211 food companies (141 halal-certified and 70 non-halal-certified). The results are analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis, structural equation modeling and independent sample t-test. Findings First, the analysis highlights that halal certification significantly affects innovative performance of halal-certified food companies. Second, the improvements in innovative performance lead to market performance improvements. Third, innovative performance fully mediates the relationship between halal certification and market performance. Finally, halal-certified food companies and non-halal-certified food companies have significant difference in terms of innovative performance and market performance. Research limitations/implications First, the population of this study consisted of only food companies in the Philippines listed in the Bureau of Product and Standard. Second, only the respective quality management representatives of the responding companies were the main respondent. Third, the samples used are from Philippines only. Therefore, the ability to generalize the reported results to all types of industry is restricted. To generalize the results of this study, additional research is desired to test the suggested model in various countries where Muslims are minority. Practical implications Understanding the impact of halal certification and its business value through empirical study should provide “about to be registered organizations” a wider perspective and a realistic view on what to expect after halal certification. It will provide factual evidences that may aid halal-certified companies in decision-making with respect to halal certification and whether it complicates or compliments their organizations’ business. Originality/value To the best of the author’s knowledge, no research has yet been conducted to investigate the impact of halal certification on business performance in the Philippines. This study, therefore, fills the gap in the research area. Through this empirical study, halal-registered and about-to-register organizations would have a wider perspective and a realistic view on what to expect from halal certification.

The objective of the article was to discuss the relationship between information technologies in the face of the sanctioning processes and fiscal responsibility, which occurred in the territorial tax control bodies, spaces and which more resources are required in technology with specific purpose for this purpose, taking advantage of the moment of the validity of Legislative Act 04 of 2019 in Colombia. Methodologically, the documentary research design near the critical essay was used. To illustrate the arguments and views of the research team, it shows situations in which the administrative process of sanctioning and fiscal responsibility could be improved, emphasizing the hypothesis that the use of information technologies allows the strengthening of the fundamental right of due process of those investigated. It is concluded that, when technological tools are extended to the institutionalist of the Colombian State, it is possible to have a better approach with citizenship, which generates a positive expectation in meeting their needs, being the essence of the Social State of Law to build at all times a democracy of results that transcends procedural formalities and expands social justice.

Purpose This paper aims at exploring the effect of knowledge management (KM) practices on the relationship between external research and development (R&D) and innovative performance. The authors argue that the firms which develop and possess superior KM capabilities have the ability to better manage external knowledge and combine it with the internal one. Design/methodology/approach The authors used a sample of 117 European MNC subsidiaries. An OLS regression analysis was carried out to evaluate the moderator effect of KM on the relationship between external R&D and innovative performance. Findings The authors found positive evidences in favor of a moderator effect of KM. This means that subsidiaries with superior KM capabilities are more effective in using external R&D, augmenting the magnitude of their external sources of knowledge and, consequently, improving their innovative performance. Practical implications Managerially speaking, both corporate and subsidiaries’ managers need to understand the relevance of managing knowledge effectively and efficiently at the subsidiary level. Corporate managers need to allocate more resources (both financial and managerial) to the subsidiaries that are active in knowledge transfer and sharing, while subsidiaries managers need to implement practically the KM tools and processes at the subsidiary organizational level to improve subsidiary’s innovative performance. Originality/value This paper contributes mainly to the KM field, highlighting the importance of KM at the subsidiary level, whereas most of previous studies focus on different units of analysis.

The study analyzes and interprets the results obtained, validating the trust in the media, through the reliability and comprehensiveness of the information they disseminate about the global pandemic, on the one hand, and the relationship between the assessment of the government's crisis and the level of fear of infection to another.
