The Shakrook anticline has very a complicated structural form, this is attributed to three thrust faults, and the presence of four anticlinal axes with the main anticlinal body. The most northwest existing anticline is called in the current study the Sisawa anticline, the main two anticlines are called the Shakrook East and Shakrook West, whereas the fourth one is called the Biluk anticline it is developed along the southwestern limb of the Shakrook East anticline. The exposed rocks in the Shakrook anticline range from Upper Jurassic to the Paleogene age. The bulk of the main Shakrook anticline is formed by the Bekhme Formation (Upper Cretaceous age), whereas the bulk of the Sisawa anticline is formed of the Shiranish Formation (Upper Cretaceous age) with Paleogene and Neogene aged rocks. Geological maps and high-quality satellite images were used to elucidate the complex structural form of the Shakrook anticline. The updated geological map is quite different from those existing geological maps. A field investigation was carried out to check the interpreted data and to implement photography to the interested structural and geomorphological forms. Different geomorphological forms also were interpreted; they all refer to the lateral growth of the Shakrook anticline.

Abstract Crest Gate Rubber Weir is a modification of rubber weir with adding a metal plate or crest gate on the upstream side. The rubber in this weir functioning as a support while the crest gate serves on elevating water. Although many have been implemented, this weir’s discharge coefficient needs be researched considering its unique shape. This study looks for discharge coefficient to determine the discharge that passes through weirs at fully closed conditions. The research was conducted with a hydraulic model resembling part of Tirtonadi Weir in Surakarta with a hydraulic model. The model is made in an angle 53°, which represents the prototype at fully closed condition. Laboratory experiment shows that the discharge coefficient of this weir is greater than the Ogee Weir and Sluice Gate for the same height because of less flow resistance from this weir structural form.

To investigate the disintegration characteristics of the carbonaceous rocks in Guangxi Province, the typical carbonaceous rocks in the section exposed by the Hechi-Baise Expressway were investigated in this study. First, based on their mineral compositions and contents, the carbonaceous rocks were divided into four types: carbonate chert, carbonaceous argillaceous limestone, carbonaceous illite clay mudstone, and carbonaceous illite clay shale. Then, through indoor wet-dry cyclic disintegration test, the disintegration characteristics of the four types of rocks were studied. The test results showed the following: (1) the disintegration residues of the carbonate chert and the carbonaceous argillaceous limestone decrease linearly as the number of wetting-drying cycles increases. (2) The disintegration index of the carbonaceous illite clay mudstone and the carbonaceous illite clay shale decreases exponentially as the number of wetting-drying cycles increases. (3) As the number of wetting-drying cycles increases, the disintegration index curves of the carbonaceous illite clay mudstone and the carbonaceous illite clay shale samples gradually become stable until the disintegration of the samples is completed. (4) The disintegration of carbonaceous rocks is mainly affected by the clay content, followed by the structural form, but it cannot be ignored.

Abstract Rubber seals are widely used in aircraft door structures, which play important roles on sealing, sound insulation and heat preservation. Aircraft door rubber seals are critical to the normal flight of the aircraft and the safety of the passengers. In this paper, a finite element model of rubber seals for aircraft door with different cross-sections is established. The deformation and stress distribution of the seals under the action of concentrated force and compressive displacement are analyzed, and the calculation results of seals with different cross-sections are compared. The optimal structural form of the cross-sectional shape of the seal is obtained. The research results are of great significance to improve the safety and durability of seals and enhance the sealing performance.

For any construction project to prove satisfactory, it is essential to understand the properties of materials during both the design and construction phases. It is crucial to consider the economic viability and sociological and environmental impact of a project. During this initial design phase, possible alternative locations and a preliminary assessment of suitable construction materials are taken into account. The decision of which structural form and material choice is most appropriate depends on a number of factors including cost, physical properties, durability and availability of materials. Buildings can contain wood, metals, concrete, bituminous materials, polymers, and bricks and blocks. Some of these can only be used in non-structural elements, while others can be used alone or in combination with structural elements. The actual materials used in the structural members will depend on both the structural form and other factors mentioned earlier. In this study, various materials such as metal, timber, concrete floor and polymer used in civil engineering were examined, the properties and usage areas of these materials were examined.

This paper explores the effects of on-journey (i.e., waiting and travel time reliability, driver quality), before-journey (i.e., service coverage, application quality, fare, etc.), and multi-tasking advantages when using ride-sourcing, the perceived usefulness of ride-sourcing and, in turn, the frequency of usage. Assuming a structural form without any reciprocal effects, the modified Structural Equation Model is used. This study collected data from 497 ride-sourcing users in Bandung city in 2018. As expected, ride-sourcing users who appreciate the usefulness of ride-sourcing services correlate with a higher frequency of use. This study found that situational variables or variables related to travel and built environment conditions (e.g., on-journey advantages, built environment, and travel characteristics) play a role in keeping travellers using the services. This study confirms that multi-tasking is not a reason for ride-sourcing users to use the services more often. Moreover, those who previously used motorcycles and car-based ride-sourcing (CBRS) are more loyal travellers than car, public transport users, and motorcycle-based-ride-sourcing (MBRS) users, respectively.

Mucosal surfaces in the gastrointestinal tract are continually exposed to native, commensal antigens and susceptible to foreign, infectious antigens. Immunoglobulin A (IgA) provides dual humoral responses that create a symbiotic environment for the resident gut microbiota and prevent the invasion of enteric pathogens. This review features recent immunological and microbial studies that elucidate the underlying IgA and microbiota-dependent mechanisms for mutualism at physiological conditions. IgA derailment and concurrent microbiota instability in pathological diseases are also discussed in detail. Highlights of this review underscore that the source of IgA and its structural form can dictate microbiota reactivity to sustain a diverse niche where both host and bacteria benefit. Other important studies emphasize IgA insufficiency can result in the bloom of opportunistic pathogens that encroach the intestinal epithelia and disseminate into circulation. The continual growth of knowledge in these subjects can lead to the development of therapeutics targeting IgA and/or the microbiota to treat life threatening diseases.
