This chapter argues that an upbringing of religious restraint constrains college choices, especially for professional-class kids. It does so by recalibrating their academic ambitions after graduation, leading them to rarely consider a selective college despite their excellent grades in high school. As a result, religiously restrained teens—and especially those from the professional class who have the resources to make it to college—tend to undermatch in the college selection process. This is evident among men and is especially prevalent among women. Girls who grow up with religious restraint have a self-concept centered around family, service, and God. They do not aspire toward prestigious careers, which makes a degree from a selective college less valuable. Unlike less affluent teens who want to improve their class position by gaining a college degree, religiously restrained teens are content maintaining their class position by attending college close to home and reproducing traditional gender norms.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the effect of education cost, university image and quality of lecturers on student decisions to choose a college. To achieve the proposed goals, a model is applied that reflects the effect of education costs, university image and quality of lecturers on student decisions to choose universities. This model was tested through the use of multiple linear regression equations and the sample was 388 student candidates. The conceptual model shows that the image of a university is the most influential construct on student decisions to choose a campus, followed by the quality of lecturers and the cost of education. In this paper, the cost of education variable produces a reliability of 0.861, a college image of 0.918 and a lecturer quality of 0.937. Further research is needed in order to find more reliable measurements of indicators of education cost, university image and quality of lecturers. The image of a university is the highest impression that is in the minds of students in choosing a university, followed by the quality of lecturers and the cost of education. Proven. The results show that the image of the university, the quality of the lecturers and the cost of education have an influence on student decisions to choose a campus.

Higher education is a place for students to study after graduating from high school/vocational high school in order to continue their higher education level, at college students study according to the majors they are interested in as a provision to find work after graduating from campus that. In choosing a college, it is necessary to choose a university that has good quality and can be recognized by a diploma from the campus. The Department of Informatics Engineering is one of the majors in the university. The selection of majors also needs to pay attention to the quality of universities and the quality of the existing majors at these universities is considered important because universities are the starting gate to create new knowledge and more knowledge for their students so that students also become someone who is competently trained in the IT field, College selection is mandatory and the number of universities offering the same major often confuses prospective students. Therefore, it is necessary to make the right selection using the Preference Selection Index (PSI) method which is one of the accurate methods in solving decision-making problems. The results showed that alternative A5 had the best value with a final value of 0.67.

The college selection process is an important phase because this process affects the future achievement targets of prospective students. One of the factors that is considered in determining a university is the supporting facilities provided during the lecture process. prospective students will continue to search and at the same time consider universities despite the pandemic COVID-19. By implementing 3600 photo-based virtual reality (VR), prospective students or external parties can get information about university facilities anytime and anywhere because it can be accessed online. This study uses the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) method in application development, then uses a quantitative approach to test the feasibility of the application. The results showed that 3600 photo-based virtual reality (VR) is an alternative media in conveying information related to the facilities and logistics owned by universities, the variables of smoothness and convenience of operating 3600 photo-based videos have a high enough influence, but on user motivation to use VR is worth less. This happens because users are not used to using this technology.

The hydroxycinnamic acid amides (HCAAs) are a diverse group of plant-specialized phenylpropanoid metabolites distributed widely in the plant kingdom and are known to be involved in tolerance to abiotic and biotic stress. The HCAA clovamide is reported in a small number of distantly related species. To explore the contribution of specialized metabolites to disease resistance in cacao (Theobroma cacao L., chocolate tree), we performed untargeted metabolomics using liquid chromatography – tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) and compared the basal metabolite profiles in leaves of two cacao genotypes with contrasting levels of susceptibility to Phytophthora spp. Leaves of the tolerant genotype ‘Scavina 6’ (‘Sca6’) were found to accumulate dramatically higher levels of clovamide and several other HCAAs compared to the susceptible ‘Imperial College Selection 1’ (‘ICS1’). Clovamide was the most abundant metabolite in ‘Sca6’ leaf extracts based on MS signal, and was up to 58-fold higher in ‘Sca6’ than in ‘ICS1’. In vitro assays demonstrated that clovamide inhibits growth of three pathogens of cacao in the genus Phytophthora, is a substrate for cacao polyphenol oxidase, and is a contributor to enzymatic browning. Furthermore, clovamide inhibited proteinase and pectinase in vitro, activities associated with defense in plant-pathogen interactions. Fruit epidermal peels from both genotypes contained substantial amounts of clovamide, but two sulfated HCAAs were present at high abundance exclusively in ‘Sca6’ suggesting a potential functional role of these compounds. The potential to breed cacao with increased HCAAs for improved agricultural performance is discussed.

College is a fantastic opportunity. For most parents, the goal of a good college selection is that their student will learn and thrive in that environment. The three elements necessary for happiness and success in college are a relationship with friends, ongoing communication with parents, and relationships with faculty or mentors. Although parents are no longer present, continued connection is important but needs to be weighed against a student’s need for increasing levels of independence. Students need some room to develop the skills of self-regulation, assertiveness, and self-efficacy to solve problems themselves with supportive parents in the background. The four years of college are a process of development also and the chapter reveals the predictable social issues that occur during this time.
