The emergence of online education helps improving the traditional English teaching quality greatly. However, it only moves the teaching process from offline to online, which does not really change the essence of traditional English teaching. In this work, we mainly study an intelligent English teaching method to further improve the quality of English teaching. Specifically, the random forest is firstly used to analyze and excavate the grammatical and syntactic features of the English text. Then, the decision tree based method is proposed to make a prediction about the English text in terms of its grammar or syntax issues. The evaluation results indicate that the proposed method can effectively improve the accuracy of English grammar or syntax recognition.

The implementation of online English instruction in remote areas during the COVID-19 pandemic, which mandates school closures, remains unknown, especially given these areas’ reputation for inadequate educational facilities. Additionally, the preparations, implementation, and challenges experienced by English as a Foreign Language (henceforth, EFL) teachers in rural areas remain unclear. This study therefore aimed at exploring the experiences of EFL teachers in rural areas on (1) their readiness for conducting online teaching, (2) their implementation of online teaching, and (3) the challenges during the implementation of online teaching due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The research was conducted in Indonesia with eight English teachers in rural schools. This study was a qualitative study that employed a phenomenological study approach and used semi-structured interviews to collect the data. The findings indicate that EFL teachers, during this pandemic time, were able to conduct fully online English teaching because they possessed sufficient knowledge of English instruction using technology. Additionally, these teachers might leverage various technologies and adapt those tools to transform their usual face-to-face English instruction into online instruction. Nonetheless, these teachers in rural schools frequently encountered challenges with internet connectivity, student-owned technology devices, student enthusiasm, and student netiquette when enrolling in online English teaching. Additionally, this article discusses some practical considerations for implementing online English teaching during a pandemic.

The proper teaching materials determine successful teaching-learning. Teaching materials are required to adapt to the current situation of the institution, curriculum, and learners. The new curriculum adopted by the Electrical Engineering Study Program required the updated version since English courses had been replaced by the first and last semester of both the D3 and D4 programs. Developing the new teaching materials for the study program aimed to provide relevant issues and teaching strategies that could boost students' motivation in the classroom. Thus, the developed teaching materials were to propose the teaching and learning that fit the learner's needs. The research objective was to develop new teaching modules for the Electrical Engineering Study Program that were much more interactive, effective, and efficient for the learners to study English within the Electrical Engineering context. This research applied Research and Development (R&D) model adopted from Borg and Gall comprising six stages, namely: (1) needs analysis, (2) designing the product, (3) proposing the product, (4) evaluating the product, (5) testing and (6) disseminating the product. As a result, the new teaching module was redesigned to provide English teaching and learning effectively and efficiently that could be easily understood and helpful for the student to achieve the learning outcomes as expected.

Aiming at the problems of low success rate, delay, and high communication cost in distance English teaching resource sharing, this paper puts forward a method of distance English teaching resource sharing based on Internet O2O mode. Based on the model of distance English teaching resource sharing, this paper designs four processes: query, reply, resource substitution, and resource sharing optimization. Experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve high success rate of resource sharing, low latency, communication cost, and high transmission efficiency. Therefore, it is an effective method.

English is regarded as a key to globalization or internationalization and future success for Taiwan and its people. One of the most extraordinary results of English-as-the-global-language of English teaching and learning in Taiwan is private English language schools are ubiquitous. Research into how private English language schools weld together English-as-the-global-language and English teaching and learning has yet received much attention. This study aims to investigate how Taiwan’s private English language schools’ television commercials market English-as-the-global-language and what the underlying ideologies of English-as-the-global-language are. Exploring the ideology of English-as-the-global-language, Critical Discourse Analysis was employed herein to analyze 106 private English language school television commercials produced from 2000 to 2020 in Taiwan. The results indicate that English as the key to internationalization and future success is an ideology. Moreover, the ideological concept of English-as-the-global-language is central to English teaching and learning ideologies in Taiwan, such as an early start in English learning, English-only as the ideal English teaching method, and native-speaker norms in English teaching and learning.

English teaching is an important part of basic teaching in our country, which has been deeply concerned by all aspects. Its teaching quality not only is related to the purpose of English teaching, but also has a far-reaching impact on students’ English learning. Therefore, the construction of English teaching quality evaluation system has become the focus of research. However, the traditional English teaching quality evaluation method has some problems; for example, the subjectivity of teaching evaluation is strong, the evaluation index is not comprehensive, and the evaluation results are distorted. Therefore, this paper studies the English teaching quality evaluation system based on optimized GA-BP neural network algorithm. On the basis of BP neural network algorithm evaluation simulation, GA algorithm is introduced for optimizing, and GA-BP neural network algorithm model is further optimized by GA adaptive degree variation and entropy method. The experimental results show that the optimized GA-BP neural network algorithm has faster convergence speed and smaller error. At the same time, the optimized GA-BP neural network algorithm evaluation model has better adaptability and stability, and its expected results are more in line with the ideal value. The results of English teaching quality evaluation are more scientific, showing higher value in the application of English teaching quality evaluation.
