This article deals with Kazimierz Wójtowicz's series Emaus – werset po wersecie (Emmaus - verse by verse), unique in Polish poetry and included in the volume Po prostu Emaus. Wybór wierszy z lat 1978–2016 (Just Emaus. A selection of poems from 1978–2016) (Kraków 2016). The discussed reflection is divided into four segments. The first is an introduction. It shows the priest-poet's fascination with the biblical theme of Emmaus, as evidenced by his numerous ekphrastic and non- ekphrastic poems, classified by the author as Emaus w słowie (Emmaus in the word) and Emaus w obrazie (Emmaus in the image). The second part is an attempt to systematize biblical commentaries on the pericope of St. Luke (24, 13–35). Three main directions of interpretation are discussed, namely, liturgical, symbolic, and the contrapuntal nature of the pericope on Emmaus in relation to the passage about the meeting of the Risen Jesus with Mary Magdalene. The third most extensive segment includes the analysis of 15 poems within the series of our interest that paraphrases most of the verses from the pericope of St. Luke. The description of the following poems is not extensive due to the modest size of this article. In the last segment, it is emphasized that Wójtowicz's poetic reflection on the pericope of St. Luke has artistic values and is also kerygmatic in nature. Commenting on biblical verses using the language of poetry, we primarily refer to the symbolism of the pericope. We use liturgical interpretation to a lesser extent. In the end, our attempt is made to juxtapose the series with other poems by Wójtowicz about Emmaus.

The article about the intellectual and creative activity of teenagers is especially productive if it is devoted to the knowledge of artistic values. Here, intelligence and creativity are activated. Moreover, in adolescence, there is a lively interest in art and a great need for its knowledge at the logical-cognitive and artistic-aesthetic levels. In dealing with highly artistic works (in preparing teenagers for their perception and the process itself) logical and artistic thinking develops, with the maximum activation of creative thinking and imagination, generalization, and one's attitude, as well as reproduction. However, this is not enough for teenagers: intellectual and creative potential requires its implementation in any activity of cognition. It is in this process of intellectual and creative development with the result of activities (for example, cognitive and educational) that the personality of adolescents is formed.

The intervention on historic buildings through building energy retrofitting has become one of the current challenges of improving energy efficiency. Nonetheless, this building typology presents certain complexities. Among them, one of the most relevant is the protection on their façades due to the historical and/or artistic values of a given façade and, therefore, the addition of external thermal insulation is restricted. However, at the same time, in several of those buildings indoor surfaces do not present that architectural value, and then internal thermal insulation becomes a promising strategy for improving their thermal performance. Nevertheless, its application must be carefully evaluated to avoid possible pathologies caused by moisture problems. This paper aims to identify constructive solutions for interior insulation of walls free from moisture problems. For this purpose, a comprehensive analysis of a series of constructive solutions based on internal insulation has been carried out through hygrothermal simulations. The results show how the application of water-repellent impregnation becomes essential to guaranteeing the integrity of the envelope. In addition, the combination of insulations with or without inner membranes, such as smart vapor retarders or vapor diffusion barriers, has been evaluated detecting the solutions that best fit the objective. Finally, taking advantage of the great potential of 2D simulation tools, the post-processing of the data has been performed to apply the wood decay model, and thus assess the behavior of a very conflictive point in this type of intervention, i.e., the wooden beam-ends. The results in this critical point have shown how the application of the proposed constructive solutions becomes essential to guarantee the integrity of the element and how the application of traditional solutions could lead to a hazard that must be avoided.

In this article devoted to the independent culture in Polish People’s Republic, I put into dichotomic doubt the concept based on the clear division between the official and independent culture. The forms of creative activity that escaped the state censorship between 1976 and 1989 radically disrespected the directives of the state’s cultural policy, yet many years before the emergence of ‘the second circulation’, there were already numerous initiatives that sparked a rich spectrum of independent activity. The authors’ strategies to remain independent changed over time, to varying extent distanced the authors from the official artistic life and differed depending on the character of the authors’ intellectual activity. In the article, I attempt to prove the relatively weak influence of the ‘official dependent culture’ that fully respected the authorities’ instructions, and I propose a classification of creative strategies that also emerged in the official culture and allowed for a relatively free development of art and science. Using multiple examples from literature, cinema, visual arts, music and science, I discuss ‘controlled culture escaping the ideological instructions’, ‘official niche culture’, ‘culture confronting the limitations’, ‘licensed Catholic culture’, ‘second circulation culture’ and ‘third circulation culture.’ The practice of searching for a way out of the official one-dimensionality allowed Polish cultural identity to continue and save its most valuable intellectual and artistic values.

The purpose of the article is to identify the specifics of remote art events, including competitions of performing skills. The research methodology includes the use of methods of comparative analysis and synthesis, the basis of the study is the dialectical principle of cognition, systemic, socio-cultural approaches. General scientific and interdisciplinary research methods are used: analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, comparison and formalization. The scientific novelty lies in an attempt to identify the main types of remote forms of art activities, identification of the main requirements for distance competitions, and determining their professionalism vector and the possibilities of using distance learning technology in further artistic practice is in the contest performance skills. Conclusions. The main forms of art projects are highlighted in some examples of the Institute of Arts of Borys Hrinchenko Kyiv University. It was found that the elements of the use of information (remote technologies) have been used as a method of selectivity in some international competitions. It is determined that at present clear rules for recording have been formed, which promote professionalization and create conditions for the development of chamber music in the performing arts. It is emphasized that the new conditions of functioning of performing arts allow asserting the remote space of concert-competitive activity and is a place of creation of new artistic values and a carrier of original ideas and concepts.

Abstract. The cultural heritage of the Buddhist grottoes on the Gansu section of the Silk Road in China has important historical, cultural and artistic values. In order to better protect these precious cultural sites including through facilitating ongoing assessment of their condition, the Dunhuang Academy has created a pilot inventory based on the Arches open-source software platform. This paper first briefly introduces the most important grottoes and the representative caves in Gansu province. It then, in view of the diversity of the grotto architecture layout, describes the Arches semantic graph data modelling technology and how the flexibility of Arches Designer was used to design the resource models, which not only meet data management needs, but also ensure data interoperability and longevity through incorporation of the CIDOC-CRM ontology. In addition, through design of the grottoes map plugin and resource components within Arches, the simple interaction and intuitive visualization of grottoes information was achieved. The Dunhuang Academy’s deployment of Arches will serve the need for grottoes data management and provide support for the establishment of a more scientific and effective protection and management system for the grottoes on the Silk Road in Gansu province. It is hoped that this project will demonstrate the suitability of the Arches platform to support the management of other grotto sites outside of Gansu province, as well as for heritage management elsewhere in China.

The purpose of the article is to analyze the phenomenon of music teachers’ artistic and educational activity in the artistic and value context as well as projections for professional training. The integral content of such activity in the teaching profession is revealed in general, and its connection with the values of culture is considered. It is emphasized that art education covers all disciplines of professional music and pedagogical training. At the same time, the tasks of the particular discipline always are in the centre of the solution of problems of other disciplines. Moreover, the place of education in life and work of prominent artists and teachers of Ukraine, China, and other countries is indicated. The role of poly-artistic training of music teachers as a basis for the formation of artistic values is emphasized. The requirements of artistic and educational activity for professional training of music teachers are outlined as the following: attitude towards educational activity, self-development of cultural skills, mastery of information space, development of performing skills, mastering the techniques of verbal and nonverbal communication with the audience. The article specifies the essence of music teacher’s artistic and educational activity as a purposeful permanent process that integrates various components of artistic cognition. The interdependent vectors of professional training of music students are formulated. They are the following: a directed influence on artistic values of others and conscious enrichment of one’s own artistic value sphere. The potential of music teacher’s artistic and educational activity as a foundation and reference point for acquiring personal artistic values is revealed, which includes motivation to expand general artistic erudition, the possibility of holistic practice-oriented immersion in art, presentation of the results of artistic search, and self-presentation.
