Abstract Background Isolated splenic artery dissection (SAD) is extremely rare, life-threatening, and particularly difficult to diagnose. Moreover, SAD presenting as digestive hemorrhage has not been reported. Case presentation A 44-year-old man presented with recurrent life-threatening hematochezia. Magnetic resonance and computed tomographic angiography showed isolated SAD with an intrapancreatic hematoma. Selective angiography confirmed the diagnosis of rupture of SAD. Hemosuccus pancreaticus was considered the potential mechanism of digestive hemorrhage. It was successfully managed by endovascular coil embolization. Conclusions Isolated SAD is especially rare but fatal. Rupture of SAD should be considered in the differential diagnosis as a rare cause of digestive hemorrhage. Endovascular coil embolization is effective in treating ruptured SAD.

A case report of a 30years old patient followed for portal Vein Thrombosis (PVT) complicated with upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage due to esophageal varices. JAK 2 V617F mutation was positive, therefore the diagnosis of primary polycythemia was retained. This case report showed that it important to think of different etiologies besides cirrhosis while managing patients with PVT especially diseases with pro thrombotic state.

Abstract. We describe a 79-year-old man with spondylodiscitis and unknown pathogen, treated with cefazolin and rifampicin. He developed a massive digestive hemorrhage. Prothrombin time was prolonged with severe vitamin-K-dependent clotting-factor deficiency. Severe bleeding can occur during cefazolin and rifampicin use. This deficiency should be assessed before prescribing cefazolin–rifampicin and prothrombin time monitored.

Background: The increase in life expectancy and low mortality have doubled the number of individuals older than 65 in the last 30 years. Methods: We conducted a retrospective study of 101 patients older than 80 years of age treated by low digestive hemorrhage (LDH) in an emergency department during 2018. Sociodemographic variables were evaluated, as well as comorbidity and survival at 18 months. Survival was assessed by a Kaplan-Meier test. Results: 52.5% of the subjects were women. The average comorbidity of the sample was 1.97. The survival rate per year was 60%. The finding on colonoscopy shows no association with mortality. However, those patients on anticoagulant/antiplatelet therapy have a higher survival rate. Conclusion: Survival per year is high, so urgent colonoscopy for an LDH should be performed after evaluating the patient’s stability and functional status in a scheduled and outpatient manner.

Background: Gastric metastases due to ovarian carcinoma are extremely rare and the patients’ prognosis is poor. We report a case of gastric ovarian cancer metastases revealed by gastrosplenic perforation. The secondary gastric tumor appeared seven years after the diagnosis of primary cancer. Case presentation: The patient is a 71-year-old woman with a serous ovarian cancer hospitalized for asthenia with digestive hemorrhage. At esophagogastroduodenoscopy, a protruding mass was noted at the level of the gastric antrum. She underwent a hemostasis of an endoscopic hemostasis by argon plasma; with effective hemostasis. The final pathology revealed gastric metastases of serous ovarian adenocarcinoma. Weekly gemcitabine chemotherapy was adopted, but the disease progressed rapidly. The patient died 4 months later. Conclusion: We have reported a case of gastric metastasis of ovarian tumor origin revealed by digestive hemorrhage. This work reiterates that this secondary localization of this cancer is possible although extremely rare. Studies are still needed to elucidate much of this unclear situation.

Hemangiomas are a type of benign vascular tumor, originated from angiogenesis disorders and prevalent in approximately 4% to 5% of the population. Among the most common complications are: ulcerations and bleeding, in cases of those located in the gastrointestinal tract; impairment of airways and vision; visceral complications; obstruction of the ear canal causing deficit in hearing; or problems in eating or in the emission of sounds due to its presence in the oral cavity. Colon and rectum hemangiomas are a rare cause of lower digestive hemorrhage. The aim of this study is to demonstrate the case of multiple hemangiomatose disease in an inpatient undergoing treatment at the Palmas General Public Hospital (HGPP).
