This study used the National Longitudinal Transition Study–2 (NLTS2) data set to determine the effects of expectations and transition planning goals on the postsecondary education enrollment of deaf youth. Propensity scoring modeling results indicated that high expectations held by deaf youth and their parents significantly predicted postsecondary education attendance at 2- and 4-year college, and career and technical education (CTE) school. College enrollment as a transition planning goal for deaf youth also significantly predicted enrollment in all three types of postsecondary education institutions. Postsecondary CTE school attendance as a transition plan goal for deaf youth did not make a difference in enrollment outcomes for CTE and 2-year college, and significantly reduced their odds of attending 4-year college. Implications regarding expectations and transition plan goals are discussed.

Adolescence is a period during which individuals’ transit from puberty to adulthood. Children go through many changes throughout this time, including biological, cognitive, and emotional changes. Excessive stress caused by studies, high expectations, and lack of capacity to maintain studies is referred to as academic stress. The study’s major goal was to assess the academic stress among rural adolescents owing to COVID- 19. The study was conducted in Udaipur district of Rajasthan. For the sample selection from four villages having Sr. Sec, schools were randomly selected. From selected schools, 180 students of age group of 16-18 years were selected randomly. The sample consisted equal no. of adolescent boys and adolescent girls. Slightly modified Academic stress scale developed by Rao (2012) was used to assess academic stress in adolescent boys and girls. Collected data was further classified, in tabulated form and analyzed through using suitable statistical measures. Results indicated that adolescents’ boys and girls faced moderate to high academic stress. Furthermore, girls were facing high academic stress as compared to boys.

With the rapid development of this technology, facial recognition systems have become widely adopted in recent years. The application of the facial recognition systems by the hotel industry has resulted in a novel service model, as well as in high expectations. These systems can be used to improve conventional services and can also enhance hotel security. Based on theory, this paper employs a technology acceptance model to gain a deeper understanding of how travelers' intention to use facial recognition systems for authentication is formed. This paper employed the survey method and used data from 413 subjects to develop a model yielding results with both theoretical and management implications. These results highlight the advantages and potential commercial value of facial recognition systems, and can provide useful analysis and suggestions for the hotel industry.

Background: Parental support is needed for every school student to achieve their academics and career expectations. However, when parents have high expectations rather than support, it would reflect in academics and career expectations of their children. When they could not achieve their parents’ expectations, it prompts stress and impacts their academic achievement and career expectations. Aims: The aim of the study was to find out the correlation between perceived parental expectations and level of stress among adolescents and its association with their socio-demographic variables. Methodology: A structured questionnaire was developed to collect the demographic information, perceived parental expectations among adolescents was measured using structured rating scale and level of stress of adolescents was measured using Modified dave smith’s stress scale from a sample of 100 adolescents who are studying in 8th, 9th and 10th standards of Shri B.V.V sangha`s English Medium High School, Vidyagiri at Bagalkot in Karnataka state India, were selected by disproportionate stratified random sampling technique. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Findings: Majority (48%) of parental expectations of adolescents had high expectations and majority (53%) of adolescents had moderate stress. A positive correlation (r=0.296) found between parental expectations and stress among adolescents. A significant association was found between the perceived parental expectations and birth order (χ2= 13.079; P<0.05) and number of siblings (χ2= 24.637; P<0.05) and a significant association was found between level of stress and family income (χ2= 14.710; P<0.05) and birth order (χ2= 15.416; P<0.05). Conclusion: The overall findings of the study revealed that, there was a positive correlation found between the perceived parental expectations and level of stress among adolescents. Keywords: Perceived parental expectations, stress and adolescents.

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups have consistently contributed to a country’s tax revenue, technology advancement, and innovation, job creation as well as economic outputs. However, they are facing great challenges or setbacks in securing funding from external sources. To overcome the fundraising issues or financing lacuna, many entrepreneurs have resorted to crowdfunding as an alternative source of their equity or debt financing. Crowdfunding, being a significant aspect of the recent fintech innovation and digital disruption, has been put under the spotlight and received high expectations from all stakeholders to be an effective solution to SMEs and start-ups. This article would be focusing on crowdfunding with financial returns, namely, equity crowdfunding (ECF) and crowdlending/peer-to-peer lending (P2P). The research methodology employed by this article is primarily based on the literature review of various legislations, scholarly articles, research papers, government policies, books, and other publications concerning the ECF and P2P from different disciplines. At the end of this article, the author opined that crowdfunding could be a useful alternative financing method for SMEs and start-ups in Malaysia as it helps the capital formation and bridges the financing gaps for them. Countless benefits could also be offered to the society and economy at large with the proper crowdfunding regulations in place. Upon reviewing the Guidelines on Recognised Markets issued by the Securities Commission Malaysia (Guidelines), the author argues that the Guidelines is a carefully crafted and balanced regulation, albeit there is room for improvement.

Starting from the premise that teaching is an act of communication, which is currently being done online, the main concern of education specialists is to optimize the process of online communication so as academic learning to be effective, meaningful and profound. As there is an interdependent relationship between communication and learning, this study is an investigative approach that aims to provide some data on students' perceptions of online communication. Effective and persuasive didactic communication, especially in the online environment, raises a number of difficulties and questions. How can the online communication process be optimized so that learning could be made more efficient? How can a challenging climate in the digital environment be built, what methods are more effective for stimulating interest and activating students? How do students relate to online training, what are the difficulties they encounter, the advantages and disadvantages they perceive? These are only a few questions that we are trying to find answers to in this study. In order to conduct our investigation, we used a sample of 126 participants, and as a research method we used the questionnaire-based survey and the interview. Following the processing of the results obtained, we were able to formulate conclusions relevant to virtual communication. Among them we mention: training students in the online didactic activity is more difficult, their involvement and participation being strongly influenced by the stress caused by technology. As for building a disinhibiting, stimulating environment, students have high expectations from the teachers.

Abstract Computer-aided synthesis planning (CASP) has been helping chemists to synthesize novel molecules at an accelerated pace. The recent integration of deep learning with CASP has opened up new avenues for digitizing and exploring the vastly unknown chemical space, and has led to high expectations for fully automated synthesis plannings using machine-discovered novel reactions in the "future". Despite many progresses in the past few years, most deep-learning methods only focus on improving few aspects of CASP (e.g., top-k accuracy). In this work, we target specifically the efficiency of reaction space exploration and its impact on CASP. We propose NeuralTPL, a template-oriented generative approach, that performs impressively across a range of evaluation metrics including chemical validity, diversity, and novelty for various tasks in CASP. In addition, our Transformer-based model bears the potential to learn the core reaction transformation as it can efficiently explore the reaction space. We then perform several experiments and conduct a thorough analysis regarding the three metrics and demonstrate its chemical value for improving the existing deep-learning-driven CASP algorithms.

The huge and sudden challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic created the need for quick governmental decisions, at the same time provoking changes in subjective public perception. The article empirically analyses the attitudes of different groups in Lithuania towards the COVID-19 situation, government actions and changes in subjective personal well-being. A representative public opinion poll (N-804) was conducted to achieve this goal. Empirical research sought to elucidate individual self-protection measures, attitudes towards the danger of the virus, government-implemented measures to combat the pandemic, and common stereotypes as well as consequences for subjective well-being. The cluster analysis confirmed the assumption that there is a link between the perception of the role of society and expectations towards the government, and between the dynamics of trust in key political actors and support for specific government actions in the context of a pandemic. If the group is more self-reliant, government policies that regulate even small aspects of public life lead to disagreement (in the case of 1st cluster), and vice versa, if the group has high expectations of government, it receives support (in the case of 3rd cluster).
