Lead-free Na1/2Bi1/2TiO3-BaTiO3 (NBT-BT) has gained revived interest due to its exceptionally good high power properties in comparison to commercial lead-based piezoelectrics. Recently, Zn-modified NBT-BT-based materials as solid solution and composites have been reported to exhibit enhanced depolarization temperatures and a high mechanical quality factor. In this work, the pyroelectric properties of Zn-doped NBT-6mole%BT and NBT-9mole%BT ceramics are investigated. The doped compositions of NBT-6BT and NBT-9BT feature a relatively stable pyroelectric property in a wide temperature range of ~37 K (300–330 K) and 80 K (300–380 K), respectively. A threefold increase in detector figure of merit is noted for 0.01 mole Zn-doped NBT-6mole% BT at room temperature in comparison to undoped NBT-6mole%BT and this increase is higher than those of major lead-free materials. A broad range of the temperature-independent behavior for the figures of merit was noted (303–380 K) for Zn-doped NBT-6mole% BT, which is 30 K higher than the undoped material. The large pyroelectric figures of merit and good temperature stability renders Zn-doped NBT-BT an ideal candidate for pyroelectric detector and energy harvesting applications.

With increasing usage of additive manufacturing methods for mechanical parts the need for precise and reliable simulations of the manufacturing process increases as well. In this paper various com- putations suited for simulating the fused deposition modeling process are considered in two dimensions. In fused deposition modeling a molten polymer is laid down on a prescribed path before the cooling of the melt begins. The occuring flows are treated as multiphase flows. To model the deposition of the filament, methods of computational fluid dynamics are used in ANSYS-Fluent, namely the volume of fluid method (VOF). Different numerical experiments are simulated

Abstract The comes about of optical and photoluminescence properties of anodic alumina shaped within the acidic electrolyte and subjected to high-temperature warm treatment are depicted in article. It was found that the photoluminescence properties of anodic alumina decided by the oxygen opportunities with diverse values of the charge states and pollutions within the frame of corrosive buildups. As a premise of limit finders in terms of the mechanical quality the substrates shaped within the oxalic electrolyte and altered by warm treatment at 800 °C are preferred. Variations of plans dilatometric microrelays sensors of temperature based on anodic alumina are advertised. For different ranges of temperatures and working conditions ideal plans are chosen.

It is shown that the use of transfer criteria for analysis of the formation processes of structures and phases significantly reduces the amount of experimental research in the design of technological process and equipment using fields and energy flows. It is proposed to use the ratios proportional to the criteria of heat and mass transfer, physicochemical interaction when controlling energy sources. It is shown that the modeling of the combined electromagnetic and thermomechanical effects in the design of technological process and equipment is based on the criteria of heat and mass transfer, electrical and physicochemical interaction, determines the main technological factors, and relates geometric and physical parameters, as well as mechanical quality parameters with the processing performance.

This study investigates the impedance curve of magnetoelectric (ME) composites (i.e., Fe80Si9B11/Pb(Zr0.3Ti0.7)O3 laminate) and extracts the modified Butterworth–Van Dyke (MBVD) model’s parameters at various direct current (DC) bias magnetic fields Hdc. It is interesting to find that both the magnetoimpedance and MBVD model’s parameters of ME composite depend on Hdc, which is primarily attributed to the dependence of FeSiB’s and neighboring PZT’s material properties on Hdc. On one hand, the delta E effect and magnetostriction of FeSiB result in the change in PZT’s dielectric permittivity, leading to the variation in impedance with Hdc. On the other hand, the magnetostriction and mechanical energy dissipation of FeSiB as a function of Hdc result in the field dependences of the MBVD model’s parameters and mechanical quality factor. Furthermore, the influences of piezoelectric and electrode materials properties on the MBVD model’s parameters are analyzed. This study plays a guiding role for ME sensor design and its application.

AbstractThe second generation HTS wires have been used in many superconducting components of electrical engineering after they were fabricated. New challenge what we face to is how the damages occur in such wires with multi-layer structure under both mechanical and extreme environment, which also dominates their quality. In this work, a macroscale technique combined a real-time magneto-optical imaging with a cryogenic uniaxial-tensile loading system was established to investigate the damage behavior accompanied with magnetic flux evolution. Under a low speed of tensile strain, it was found that the local magnetic flux moves gradually to form intermittent multi-stack spindle penetrations, which corresponds to the cracks initiated from substrate and extend along both tape thickness and width directions, where the amorphous phases at the tip of cracks were also observed. The obtained results reveal the mechanism of damage formation and provide a potential orientation for improving mechanical quality of these wires.
