Despite widespread acceptance that their emissions accelerate climate change and its disastrous ecological effects, new fossil fuel extraction projects continue apace, further entrenching fossil fuel dependence, and thereby enacting particular climate futures. In this article, we examine how this is occurring in the case of a proposed onshore shale gas “fracking” industry in the remote Northern Territory of Australia, drawing on policy and legal documents and interviews with an enunciatory community of scientists, lawyers, activists, and policy makers to illustrate what we call “divisible governance.” Divisible governance—enacted through technical maneuvers of temporal and jurisdictional risk fragmentation—not only facilitates the piecemeal entrenchment of unsustainable extraction but also sustains ignorance on the part of this enunciatory community and the wider public about the impacts of such extraction and the manner in which it is both facilitated and regulated. Such governance regimes, we suggest, create felicitous conditions for governments to defer, forestall, or eliminate their accountability while regulating their way further and further into catastrophic climate change. Countering divisible governance begins, we suggest, by mapping the connections that it fragments.

Whether burnout is synonymous with stress is a question of clinical importance when considering the nosological status and management of both states. The biological changes associated with both stress and burnout suggest considerable overlap. However, we argue that the widespread acceptance by the lay community of burnout as a distinct and relatable syndrome suggests it is worthy of independent designation.

AbstractMicrofinance is critical for the development of micro-enterprises and alleviating poverty. However, micro-enterprises are able to get microfinance services, they would face a variety of obstacles, due to the misunderstandings among many stakeholders, microfinance has not acquired widespread acceptance. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate microfinance's impact on the sustainable development of Malaysia’s rural micro-enterprises. Besides, digital finance is integrated into the conceptual model to further investigate their mediating impact. Data was collected from 563 rural micro-enterprises using structured questionnaires, which were then statistically analyzed using AMOS-21. The findings of the study reveal that microfinance has a positive substantial influence on rural micro-enterprises development. Moreover, digital finance partially mediates the relationship. Thus, the study concludes that microfinance institutions are needed to adopt digital finance to enhance micro enterprises’ productivity through low transaction costs. The findings of the study can be useful to policymakers in the micro-enterprise sector who have a long-term vision and expect the sector to develop steadily. The study also provides scope and space for future academics and scholars to conduct further research.

Nanotechnologists are in great demand and this need is becoming more and more acute every year since nanomaterials have gained widespread acceptance in various industries. The specificity of nanotechnology is determined by a wide variety of existing nanomaterials and technologies for their synthesis. The study suggests an efficient technique for training prospective nanoengineers to make managerial decisions in the synthesis of nanostructures. Moreover, the article demonstrates that using T. Saati's hierarchy analysis method offers the optimum solution for obtaining nanostructures. The analysis is based on the most commonly used synthesis technologies such as chemical etching, photoelectrochemical etching and imprint lithography. The application of T. Saati's method allows prospective nanoengineers to optimize the synthesis of high-quality nanostructures as well as ensure an economic and competitive advantage and reduce the number of errors.

Intellectual Properties reuse has gained widespread acceptance in System-On-Chip design to manage the complexity and shorten the time-to-market. However the need for a standard representation that permits IPs classification, characterization, and integration is still a big challenge. To address this problem, we propose to develop an IPs reuse specific ontology that facilitates IPs reuse at many levels of abstraction and independently from any design language or tool. Our ontology is built using the Protégé-OWL tool

The goal of this essay is to show how we might gain new insight into the meaning of Nietzsche’s metaphilosophical lessons at the start of Beyond Good and Evil. Maudemarie Clark’s interpretation of these lessons is prima facie plausible and has gained widespread acceptance in the Anglophone community of Nietzsche scholars. According to this reading, Nietzsche thinks that philosophers cannot help but project their preferred values into their theories of the world and he thinks that this is true of his own theory of the world as will to power. I argue that there are severe problems with Clark’s supporting textual evidence and that we should therefore reconsider how we usually think today about the role of values in Nietzsche’s conception of philosophy and about the epistemic status that he grants to his own philosophical theories.

In 2020, the COVID-19 global pandemic forced probation departments to change their practices overnight. The phenomenon presented many challenges for probation departments but also opened avenues for innovation and changes in attitudes toward supervision practices. We surveyed adult and juvenile probation departments in the entire state of Texas, specifically targeting management and supervisory personnel, officers with caseloads, including court officers, and information technology personnel ( N = 1,353). Our goals of this research included not only obtaining information about operational changes made because of the pandemic but also gauging attitudes toward these changes and the future of probation. We understood operational changes were inevitable, thus findings of significant operational changes were not surprising. We found that probation personnel were open to changes in operational procedures and that the pandemic spurred innovation and widespread acceptance in the use of technology for a variety of activities going forward that may not have been accepted prior to the pandemic.

Digital leisure and specifically videogames are increasingly entrenched in all segments of society. Making appropriate use of them implies a challenge for users, families, and professionals. In the present study, the use that people with Autism Spectrum Disorders make of this sort of entertainment is specifically approached, and a series of recommendations are presented that take the characteristics of this population into account. A questionnaire was prepared ad hoc for data-collection purposes and administered to 67 people with ASD of different ages. The results reflect that videogames are a very popular type of game among people with ASD, are perceived as highly attractive and motivating and can help to lower anxiety levels. Among the undesired aspects, the physical problems arising from the use of videogames may be highlighted, and the problems of addiction and isolation that their continual use can provoke. The widespread acceptance of this type of leisure among people with ASD calls for new studies of a qualitative nature for the analysis of the relevant variables.

While the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic remains centered around the great strides made in fields of biotechnology and epidemiology, an epidemic of misinformation and growing skepticism of the scientific community rages beneath the surface. Almost understandably so, in an unprecedented time of change riddled with fear and a sense of loss, people turn to thoughts, emotions, and behaviours that sometimes do more to impede the return to normalcy that we all crave. Reports that were particularly prevalent during the early pandemic response, including those of individuals refusing to wear masks in public spaces or anti-lockdown rallies throughout North America, only spurred further confusion and divisive sentiments on both sides [1]. While these events may point towards a lack of clear communication and mixed messaging from authority figures in the early response, a culture of inherent skepticism, particularly on social media, continues to be pervasive. With hopes of a global re-opening riding on the current vaccine rollout, widespread acceptance of the COVID-19 vaccines remains essential to achieving herd immunity and ultimately curbing the spread of the virus. However, marginalized and underrepresented groups in North America that have been most heavily affected by the pandemic are also often those who are most distrustful of the medical system [2,3].

Background: Comorbidity is the biggest decider in COVID-19 pandemic whether the infected person will develop the severe clinical outcome or not. It is one of the few conclusions that has widespread acceptance. Summary:After analyzing the case fatalities of COVID-19, many patients were found to be having either one of many conditions which are commonly called as comorbidities due to which they cannot made it to survivors list. Also several COVID-19 patients requiring the sophisticated medical attention like ventilators and oxygen support system have any kind of underlying medical condition. Deteriorated immune system is one of the reasons behind slipping into severe symptoms category. Conclusion: It is established that comorbidities are the major influencer in COVID-19 infected patients. More study is needed to further segregate the data on the basis of each comorbidity.
