Inferiority can arise for children who do not get the father’s role, especially when comparing themselves to their friend who still has a father. This study aims to find out the inferiority attitude displayed by children who have a single mother and know the coping strategies of single-parent mothers overcoming the child’s inferiority attitude. The study subjects were three single-parent mothers in Gampong Birem Puntong Kota Langsa whose children had inferiority and families with purposive sampling techniques. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach—data collection techniques through observation and interviews. The data analysis was done by data reduction, data presentation, and verification or inference of data. The results showed that the inferiority displayed by children who have a single mother arises due to losing a father figure. Single mother coping strategies overcome the child’s inferiority by making a plan that is arranged according to the needs of the child, then carrying it out in accordance with the right time, overcoming obstacles when carrying it out, and having the last step in the form of follow-up to evaluate and supervise every development experienced by the child

In my review of the literature, I aim to present the roles that men play in caring for their young children in the US. On weekdays, the father continues to be primarily a breadwinner, while the image of a fully involved “new father” appears mainly at the weekends. Men are primarily involved in activities that are related to free time and direct interaction to their children. The father’s role in childcare can be influenced by individual social and economic status, such as income, education, labour market position and available time; and also, by his attitude to different gender roles, value priorities and religiosity.

Eat Drink Man Woman, well-known as the last episode of “Father-Knows-Best” trilogy directed by Ang Lee, is attractive to numerous scholars following its nomination of Oscar. Through comparative studies, voluminous critics have devoted to the theme of globalization and cultural identity. However, few scholars notice that cultural identity as a sign of national image experiences a series of transformations. Therefore, this article mainly probes how the transformation of cultural identity changes the ideological component of national memory that contributes to nurturing the Chinese national identity. Father’ s image and daughters’ role are prominently represented in the film, particularly father’s psychological changes in some sense projecting the transformation of traditional ideology. Thus, combined with historic background this article will set about the transformation of father’s role and daughter’s image which predicate the deconstruction of traditional gender discourse, trying to figure out how does the transformed ideology expressed through the deconstruction of gender discourse contribute to the reconstruction of Chinese national identity.

Background: Breastfeeding is a difficult time for a mother. A mother hopes that she can fully breastfeed in the first 6 months of her baby's life. But unfortunately, breastfeeding mothers often face various problems in baby care which result in disruption of breastfeeding such as stress due to not being adapted to being a mother, or due to pressure from the surrounding environment. The role of a partner is very important in helping mothers deal with problems that may arise. Father's support can help mothers, especially in their coping, in dealing with stress that may arise when breastfeeding. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the father's role during the breastfeeding period to achieve the success of exclusive breastfeeding. Methods: This research method used a cross-sectional design which was carried out in Bangka Belitung Islands Province. The study was conducted on 35 married couples who have babies between 6 months to 1 year old. The aspects of the father's support that were assessed were financial, emotional, and physical. Quantitative data were analyzed using an independent t-test, while qualitative data were analyzed using chi-square. Results: The results of statistical analysis showed that there was no significant relationship between financial support (p = 0.372), emotional support (p = 0.166), and physical support (p = 0.227) on the success of exclusive breastfeeding. Although there is a close relationship if the three aspects are given together without reducing one aspect of support (p = 0.009). Conclusion: This shows that the father's support must include all three aspects, both financial, emotional, and physical to determine the success of exclusive breastfeeding. As the world condemns the genocide, Myanmar and Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s government denied it and refused to accept it and argued that it sanctioned under the rule of law. This paper problematises these questions:, What is the rule of law in Myanmar? And why do they deny it? This study is qualitative in which pages of transcripts of speeches perused to find themes, settings, and meanings attributed to problematising Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and the rule of law in post-colonial Myanmar. These speeches delivered in public from 2016-2018. In analysing her speeches, the paper uses Foucauldian Discourse Analysis. On the part of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, it found that problematising her actions and silence over the Rohingya genocide influenced her late father’s role. She continued to claim that her military father is the father of the Burmese military. She had special relations in incarceration with the army generals during her house arrest. She focused on the democratic transition which she promised in the 2015 election.  This study reveals that this rule of law has purely political narratives because the generals are not accountable. This paper subsumes ongoing legal reforms in Myanmar.

The present study investigated the impact of prematurity in the motherhood constellation. Three primiparous mothers - aged between 22 and 31 years old - who had premature babies participated in the research. It is a qualitative research, of multiple case studies, carried out through content analysis, proposed by Bardin (2011). The interviews were analyzed from the interpretative axes of the motherhood constellation according to Stern (1997): life and growth; relate primary; matrix of support and reorganization of identity. It was identified that, the four axes considered normal to all primiparous women, are intensified in mothers of premature babies. The participants reported the fear of the baby's death and the difficulty in establishing an emotional bond with the child, and a support network based on the couple was identified, with the father's role in the maternity growing and a greater investment by the woman as a mother, due to the feeling of guilt for premature birth.

This article contributes to the debate on the father’s role in child care by looking at two distinct cases of child care policy development: Sweden and Lithuania. The findings show that Sweden continues to embrace the dual-earner-carer model very successfully. Parental leave, including non-transferable father’s quota, is very popular among the population. In Lithuania we find the dual-earner model, as there is still more emphasis on the mother’s employment than on the father’s child care involvement. Based on the experts’ views and document analysis, we conclude that in Lithuania the parental leave benefit is increasingly seen as a measure to ensure the family’s financial security, but not as an instrument to enhance fatherhood rights. Yet, the state intentionally supports kinship familialism as grandparents are entitled to take parental leave.

Romantic love has been conceptualised as an emotional resource that promotes consumerism, by deeply affecting the creation of the modern self (Illouz, 2012). Simultaneously, both research and media discourses present the modern ‘good’ father’s role as one of enhanced intimacy (Dermott, 2008), and one in which fathers’ experiences of paternal love are routinely overlooked. I argue that paternal love as a different form of love than romantic love can resist commodification to a certain extent. Based on data from 47 qualitative interviews with Scottish and Romanian fathers, I argue that involved fathers have an ambivalent relationship to consumerism. Far from uniformly adopting it, data reveal that fathers resist it by focusing on the emotional value of gifts and developing their children’s warmth and confidence (încredere in sine).1 This happens in a social context where fathers shift emotionally between love and stoicism as they flexibly adopt either an intimate or provider role according to different contexts. Exploring paternal love is important in understanding how fathers, in relation to their children, not only participate but can also resist the commodification of their intimate lives, and can contest the general discourse of the commodification of love.

Background: The present study aimed to determine the psychometric properties of the Persian version of the Childhood Experience of Care and Abuse Questionnaire (CECA.Q), a tool based on a retrospective interview with the child. Materials and Methods: To this aim, 251 adolescents from four regions of Tehran megacity completed the questionnaire. The reliability of the questionnaire was examined, along with the face and content validity. In addition, the construct validity was evaluated by exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Results: EFA and CFA supported a 4-factor solution including mother’s role scale items, father’s role scale items, maternal behavior scale items, and paternal behavior scale items.  The total variance extracted in EFA ranged from 33.9 to 60.7. The internal consistency for mother’s role, father’s role, maternal behavior, and paternal behavior was 0.61, 0.65, 0.86, and 0.9 respectively. Thus, the questionnaire had a suitable fit, as well as reasonable reliability and validity. Conclusion:  The Persian version of the CECA.Q had adequate reliability and validity as a self-report measurement for childhood experience of care and abuse. [GMJ.2020;9:e1663]
