This study explores the psychology of green entrepreneurship and the role of the founder in establishing a green climate in organizations. The study examined the process of founding an environmentally sustainable organizational climate in small-scale auto ancillary companies in India. Focus group interviews were conducted, and questionnaires were distributed in the field; subsequently, the founders participated in an in-depth follow-up interview to explore the evolving elements of the green climate. Thematic analysis revealed that the founders’ environmental focus had different origins, indicative of four motivational categories: opposition, frugality, activism and idealism. The founders played a crucial role in influencing green employee behaviour through both supervision and direct behavioural instructions. Moreover, the participants frequently mentioned the practical aspects of the environmental focus, while values and strategies were generally tacit. The findings indicate that the founders’ motivational position determined the trajectory of developing a green climate.

AbstractGreen entrepreneurship has been increasing with growing attention to environment protection by a variety of stakeholders. Green innovation, as the essence of green entrepreneurship, has attracted a broad range of scholarly attention with yet inconclusive findings regarding its effect on firm performance. According to our analyses of 1667 firms listed on SME board and GEM in China during the period from 2010 to 2019, we find interesting results regarding the type of green innovation involved and the moderating effect of firm age on the link between green innovation and SME performance. More precisely, we find green utility-model innovation positively influences firm performance for SMEs, whereas green invention innovation does not contribute to firm performance overall. More interesting, our empirical results suggest that older firms benefit more from both green invention innovation and green utility-model innovation than younger firms. This research contributes to the literature on green entrepreneurship as well as green innovation.

Subject. This article considers the development of ‘green’ entrepreneurship in the context of ensuring the economic security of Russian regions. Objectives. We focus on developing a conceptual and instrumental basis for sustainable development of entrepreneurial segments of the ‘green’ economy, using the economic security tools for rapid identification and ranking of new threats and risks. Methods. The study rests on the methodology for determining the confidence interval to create threshold values of indicators of economic security and "green" entrepreneurship, supplemented by trend analysis to justify the priority of introducing ‘green’ entrepreneurship mechanisms in a particular region of the Russian Federation. Results. We underpin the priority of introducing mechanisms for ‘green’ entrepreneurship development, through modeling upper and lower boundaries of permissible values for indicator of air pollutant emissions from stationary sources, in the Moscow, Leningrad, Sverdlovsk, and Novosibirsk Oblast, and the Altai and Krasnodar Territory. Conclusions. Based on generalization and systematization of Russian and foreign experience, we provide a theoretical rationale for the content, role, classification, and interdependence of tools for sustainable development of business segments of the ‘green’ economy, clarify the concept of ‘sustainable development’ for the purposes of this study. We prove the hypothesis that priority support need those regions that incur the greatest risks in the environmental sphere, including large volumes of hazardous air pollutant emissions.

In line with circular economic, the role of green entrepreneurship (GE) should be useful in preserving environmental sustainability. However, so many people are less aware of the importance of sustainability and green behavior in business activities. Therefore, the goal of the study is to explore a linkage of green value, GE, and sustainable development that is perceived by entrepreneurship students in Jakarta, Indonesia. 180 students were involved as respondents resulting in significant impacts. By using Smart-PLS proves significant relationships and finds a mediating effect of GE which links green value to sustainable development at the level of 5 percent. It forms a green triangle approach in promoting sustainability education for university students so that this linkage signs a good perception of students in expressing green value toward GE and sustainability issues. It is an early stage in promoting the triple bottom line so that the learning system could collaborate with stakeholders for enhancing the sustainability system in entrepreneurial education.
