Some of the Nigerian Roman-Catholic priests had been murdered by armed criminals in the presbyteries on account of their witnessing to the gospel truth. Others have continued to receive threats of molestation and death for the same reason. This necessitated the current study that adopted an etymological approach and secondary sources of data, such as journal articles, newspaper publications and policy briefs, to discuss on how to address the biblical and ecclesial obligation of Nigerian Roman-Catholic priests in promotion of peace and social justice.Contribution: The article provides that the target of the Nigerian Roman-Catholic priests was not just to console the dejected of the society over the neglect of the leaders but include the thrust of actions that would get both the leaders in the government and the populace to know their respective duties and be compelled to do them.

The Language of Priests: A Pilot Study Summary The article presents and briefly discusses the results from a survey conducted with 28 Roman Catholic priests and clerics who were asked about the vocabulary used in everyday communication. About 370 slang word and phrases where collected in this way. Based on the answers provided, it can be assumed that language used by priests in private situations is characterized by expression, humor and creativity.

This narrative analysis was aimed at exploring the attachment to God narratives of 28 middle-aged Roman Catholic Religious priests rendering their service in various settings in South India. The study found that majority of the Roman Catholic priests had developed representations of a secure attachment to God. Twenty-six priests had developed representations of a secure attachment to God, and two priests of an insecure attachment to God. The Majority of the Roman Catholic priests had developed representations of a secure attachment to more than one spiritual attachment figures. Along with God, most priests had also developed representations of a secure attachment to the Virgin Mary. All the major themes related to attachment to God were found in the narratives of the Roman Catholic Priests.

Artikel ini meneliti sikap Kristen Calvinis terhadap agama-agama yang ada di Batavia pada abad ke-XVII. Dengan menggunakan Metode Sejarah, didapat beberapa kesimpulan: (1) VOC hanya mengakui satu agama yang sah (publieke kerk) yaitu Kristen Calvinis, (2) Dengan menggunakan VOC, sikap Kristen Calvinis terhadap komunitas Katolik Roma sangat tegas, banyak pastor Katolik Roma yang dipenjara. Untuk membatasi perpindahan penduduk Batavia ke Gereja Katolik Roma, dibuat peraturan bahwa sakramen Katolik Roma (Baptisan) dianggap tidak sah secara hukum dan tidak bisa dijadikan sebagai syarat pernikahan, (3) Islam dan Kong Hu Cu di Batavia tidak diakui sebagai agama resmi, namun karena secara politik dan ekonomi mereka kuat, VOC menjadi sangat berhati-hati dalam membuat kebijakan-kebijakan, khususnya yang berkaitan dengan hidup keagamaan mereka.The article presents the findings of the research of Calvinistic Christianity’s attitude towards the other religion groups in Batavia during the 17th century. By using the Historical Method, the conclusions are obtained as follows: (1) The VOC recognized exclusively the Calvinistic Christianity as the only legitimate religion (publieke kerk), (2) The Calvinistic Christianity manipulated the VOC to behave strict towards the Roman Catholics so that many Roman Catholic priests were consequently imprisoned. To prevent the Batavia citizens from embracing the Roman Catholics, the Calvinistic Christianity had the Roman Catholic's sacrament of Baptism considered as as not legally valid by the VOC so that it could not fulfill the marriage requirements, (3) Meanwhile, Islam and Confucianism in Batavia remained unrecognized as official religions. However, their political and economic influence forced the VOC to be very careful in decision-making, especially concerning their religious lives.

The trial and execution of the Jesuit John Ogilvie in 1615 is located within diverse political contexts—Reformation and Counter-Reformation; British state formation; and the contested control of the Scottish Kirk between episcopacy and Presbyterianism. The endeavors of James vi and i to promote his ius imperium by land and sea did not convert the union of the crowns into a parliamentary union. However, he pressed ahead with British policies to civilize frontiers, colonize overseas and engage in war and diplomacy. Integral to his desire not to be beholden to any foreign power was his promotion of religious uniformity which resulted in a Presbyterian backlash against episcopacy. At the same time, the Scottish bishops sought to present a united Protestant front by implementing penal laws against Roman Catholic priests and laity, which led to Ogilvie being charged with treason for upholding the spiritual supremacy of the papacy over King James. Ogilvie’s martyrdom may stand in isolation, but it served to reinvigorate the Catholic mission to Scotland.

Traces of the Presence of Armenian Merchants in Łowicz and Armenian Episodes in the Religious History of This City in the 17th and 18th CenturiesIn the 17th and the 18th century in Łowicz Armenians were mostly tradesmen, particularly associated with the St Mathhew fair (on 10th October). Two Armenian families decided to settle in Łowicz: the Augustynowicz family (originally from Lwów) and the Faruchowicz family (from Jazłowiec). Also, in the 18th century four Roman Catholic priests of Armenian origin worked as canons at Łowicz collegiate chapter: Jan Nepomucen Awedyk, Mikołaj Jaśkiewicz, Franciszek Nikorowicz and Grzegorz Zachariasiewicz.

This study aimed to provide an in-depth description and interpretation of African Roman Catholic Church priests’ experiences integrating African and Western worldviews into their lives and works as Roman Catholic Church priests through the lens of Jungian constructs. Fifteen African priests were purposely selected and interviewed in depth. Additional sources of data were reflexive notes and observation notes. Data were subjected to various iterative cycles of analysis. Most participants (80%) indicated that, in one way or another, they were experiencing conflict in terms of the cultural values of manhood and Roman Catholic Church prescription. Findings suggest that a more concerted and serious effort should be undertaken by the Roman Catholic Church to support and guide its priests on a path of healing, which includes the priests risking cultural openness and being true to themselves and God.
