Abstract Background In crop plants, to cope up with the demand of food for rising population, revolutionary crop improvement programmes are being implemented for higher and higher yields. Abiotic stress, especially at flowering stage, causes drastic effect on yield in plants. Deforestation and urbanization made the water table very low and changed the climate which led to untimely and unforeseen rains which affect the yield of a crop through stress, both by lack of water as well as water logging (abiotic stress). Development of tolerant plants through breeding is a time-consuming programme and does not perform well in normal conditions. Development of stress-tolerant plants through transgenic technology is the better solution. Maize is a major crop used as food and fodder and has the commercial value in ethanol production. Hence, the genes viz., nced (9-cis-epoxycarotenoid dioxygenase) and rpk (receptor-like protein kinase), which play the key roles in the abscisic acid pathway and upstream component in ABA signaling have been transferred into maize plants through Agrobacterium-mediated transformation by optimizing several parameters to obtain maximum frequency of transformation. Results Cultures raised from immature embryos of 2-mm size isolated from maize cobs, 12–15 days after pollination, were used for transformation. rpk and nced genes under the control of leaP and salT promoters respectively, cloned using gateway technology, have been introduced into elite maize inbred lines. Maximum frequency of transformation was observed with the callus infected after 20 days of inoculation by using 100 μM acetosyringone, 10 min infection time, and 2 days incubation period after co-cultivation resulted in maximum frequency of transformation (6%) in the NM5884 inbred line. Integration of the genes has been confirmed with molecular characterization by performing PCRs with marker as well as gene-specific primers and through southern hybridization. Physiological and biochemical characterization was done in vitro (artificial stress) and in vivo (pot experiments). Conclusions Changes in the parameters which affect the transformation frequency yielded maximum frequency of transformation with 20-day-old callus in the NM5884 inbred line. Introducing two or more genes using gateway technology is useful for developing stable transgenic plants with desired characters, abiotic stress tolerance in this study.

5G customer premise equipment (5G-CPE) is an IoT gateway technology that integrates 5G and Wi-Fi and therefore can provide Wi-Fi connection for IoT devices and meanwhile benefit from the advantages of 5G. With the increasing number of IoT devices, transmission collisions and hidden/exposed terminal problems on the Wi-Fi connection side become more and more serious. Conventional mechanisms cannot solve these problems well. In this paper, we propose a Wi-Fi sector (Wi-FiS) design, which is compatible with Wi-Fi, to solve them fundamentally. Wi-FiS divides the whole coverage area of Wi-Fi into multiple sectors and utilizes beamforming technology and sector-based scheduling to improve system performance of Wi-Fi dense networks. For a single-cell network, Wi-FiS differentiates uplink and downlink operations and totally excludes collision in downlink. For a multicell network, Wi-FiS can avoid hidden and exposed terminal problems, while enabling parallel transmissions among multiple cells. We then develop a theoretical model to analyze Wi-FiS’s throughput. Extensive simulations verify that our theoretical model is very accurate and Wi-FiS can improve system throughput of Wi-Fi dense networks significantly.

ThingSpeak is an open Internet of Things (IoT) platform with MATLAB® analytics that enables the collection and storage of sensor data in the cloud and development of IoT applications. The ThingSpeak IoT platform provides applications that allow data analysis and visualization in MATLAB. With MATLAB® analysis in ThingSpeak, MATLAB code can be executed to perform preprocessing, visualization, filtering, data analysis, and for object modeling applications. This paper presents researches on Matlab application in Thingspeak Server to build data measurement and analysis system using IoT LoRa Gateway technology. The research contents include suggestions on device configuration for the system, programming the Arduino board and LoRa Shield to collect measurement data from sensor nodes and communicate by LoRa waves to the LoRa Gateway. The LoRa Gateway will send data to Web Server based on Thingspeak's Cloud Service platform using MQTT (Message Queing Telemetry Transport). Thingspeak's Matlab interface will display online and store values from the sensor nodes. The system is integrated and tested on temperature and humidity monitoring model, evaluated for the results with the required accuracy. The research results allow the deployment of IoT Gateway system in practice for online measurement, analysis and data processing applications that require the use of algorithms and code generation in Matlab using Web Server.

Vehicle theft is one of the most common cases in big cities. The absence of a security system on a vehicle is one of the causes of the case. Therefore, we need a security system on the vehicle in the form of an alarm and can also perform the tracking function. This study aims to design a vehicle security system using GPS and SMS Gateway technology. This system uses the u-blox Neo6m GPS module, GSM SIM 800L v2 module and Arduino Uno microcontroller. The tracking system uses data from GPS coordinates sent to the user's smartphone number and displayed on the Google Maps application. The accuracy of GPS coordinates in this system when compared to GPS on smartphones has a gap of between 1 - 26 meters. The response time when the user sends a command to track the vehicle to get a reply sms that is ± 37.6 seconds.

The process of good egg incubation is a major factor in the quality of native chicken eggs which during this time the native chicken mother has many problems such as the lack of eggs that hatch, the number of chickens that are not weather resistant so many eggs that do not hatch and chicken seeds in dead eggs, at least chicken breeders which incubates the eggs, there is no proper method in calculating the temperature and humidity parameters of the chicken coop and there is no information on the process of hatching eggs to farmers in real time. Overcoming this problem, the latest technology is needed that can replace the conventional system of farmers with a controlled system of chicken egg incubators. In this case, the author will make a machine equipped with a chicken hatching control system using the MADM calculation method and SMS Gateway technology as a medium of information to farmers.

Responding to the higher restaurant industry competition, the Mailaku Roemah Nongkrong restaurant was not too flexible in facing an environmental changes. It was still using manual technology while there was an advancing technological developments. It was still applying the internal resources for business development. One way to overcome this problem is by utilizing technology and the concept of customer relationship management (CRM). CRM is a marketing strategy to create and maintain customer relationships and reduce the possibility of customers moving to other competitors. This study presented the development and implementation of CRM in a web-based system that was supported by sms gateway technology. The research methodology that will be used in this study consists of some steps, such as library study, observation, interviews, and system development which was divided into analysis, design, coding, and testing. The result was a web-based system was able to manage customer data, product promotion, and customer service management to create good relationships with customers. This system can be as an alternative for restaurants and customers in establishing practical business communication.

Along with the development of communication technology, and information system, more and more also made the attendance system, and academic information. The development of a more modern absentee system with respect to the honesty side needs to be built as a substitute for manual absence using paper. Attendance system is at once can be a new standard on attendance system in Education environment. The choice of fingerprint attendance system based on communication technology in the form of SMS is because it is more practical, cheap, and efficient to convey information. Parents do not have to bother anymore come to school just to know the presence or absence of his son / daughter. In the implementation of this application, in the early stages of the user must register their identity by using the application program absenteeism built with PHP programming language, to further stored the absence data into the database My SQL which has integrated SMS Gateway through the SMS sending software that is Gammu. In addition with SMS Gateway technology, parents will be easier to obtain information on the presence of his son / daughter. From the student side, it is hoped that it will foster discipline attitude in time because indirectly this application will grow the mental attitude on time to the students, and it is expected that this application can fix any deficiencies in attendance application that has been implemented earlier.
