Depression is a medical condition that negatively impacts a person’s thoughts, actions, feelings, and mental health. Depressed individuals tend to feel trapped in a hopeless condition, no help, full of rejection, feeling worthless, which encourages the sufferer to commit suicide. According to data from The Ministry of Health shows that the prevalence of mental emotional disorders in people aged over 15 years in South Kalimantan has increased. In addition, South Kalimantan only has facilities for people with severe mental illness, there are no special facilities to treat people with mental disorders especially depression. There are many young people who have depression however, not much of them asking for professional help because of stigma among society and a lack of understanding, preventing people with depression from getting proper help. Design of Youth Treatment Center applied method gestalt psychology and space perception concept. This design is to provide a treatment for depression adolescents that can change stigma and increase public awareness of mental health.

In youth treatment, the alliance has been defined and measured as a consensual or collaborative bond. This chapter reviews varied definitions of the alliance, enumerates its frequent measures, and presents clinical examples. The authors provide a meta-analytic review on the relation between the therapeutic alliance and treatment outcome in child and adolescent psychotherapy. The meta-analysis of 43 studies revealed a weighted random effect size of r = .20, which is a small to medium effect consistent with the adult alliance literature and with prior youth meta-analyses. Multiple moderators of the alliance–outcome association were found, including diagnosis class, study design, and outcome rater. Research limitations, patient contributions, and diversity considerations follow. The chapter concludes with research-informed practices for building and maintaining the therapeutic alliance with youth.

Youth substance use is a serious problem that has immediate and long-term impact on individuals, families, and society. Adolescent substance experimentation that develops into abuse foreshadows long-term problems, such as adult addiction, co-occurring mental illness, declined or abandoned academic careers, and other individual and interpersonal harms. Early and effective intervention can mitigate the harmful effects on the lives of young people, their families, and their communities. Intervention may not be accessible, however, for adolescents and/or their families when they seek help, and wait lists are common. Waiting for treatment for substance use is the focus of this study, and in particular, the experience of waiting and its associated impacts on the youth’s substance use, involvement with police, running away, mental health and on the family unit. 118 parents of youth who use substances participated in a mixed methods study at Pine River Institute, a long-term residential youth treatment center. Clinical implications are discussed.

Presented before you are a collective of raw, untamed poetic thoughts from my experiences as a Youth Treatment Counselor. In writing this personal narrative I have been able to let the inner turmoil of my soul soar with peace once more. You will discover how invalidation from supervisors and staff can quickly leave you at a standstill, being left to feel alone. My goal for writing this piece has been to create mental metaphors for others in the field who built up walls as a form of self-preservation, to feel comfort when there is no end. I hope my honesty can leave someone else to feel alive again. That may be you right now or a near and dear friend that would appreciate being heard. We weather storms and more often than not have difficulty finding the right words.
