The research aims to investigate the condition of Basuki boiler based on the ratio between fuel consumption and steam production. The research used quantitative-descriptive method. The population of this research was daily record of Basuki boiler. The sample was daily record of Basuki boiler performance for 1 year (February 2015 to January 2016). The sample was taken using purposive sampling method. The research analyzed the ability of fuel to produce a ton (1000 kilograms) of steam. The ability of fuel was depended on the highest heating value (HHV) and water contain in the coal. Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that Basuki boiler condition based on its ratio between fuel consumption and steam production was good, because the ratio that shown (144.09) was less than the company’s target (150), it meant that the boiler only used 144.09 kilograms of coal to produce a ton of steam. The average of fuel consumption for 1 year was 1,484.99 kg/h and the average of steam production was 10,305.76 kg/h.

This research aims to (1) develop an instructional material based animation software for CNC course, (2) evaluate instructional material for CNC course that has been developed. The research was conducted at the Department of Mechanical Engineering Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Sebelas Maret University Surakarta. This research used Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) as research procedure, which consists of six stages, concept, design, collecting material, assembly, testing and distribution. Evaluation of instructional material for CNC course was performed by ask potential users to operate CNC instructional material that have been developed, then get response from potential users through a questionnaire. Potential users are divided into two categories, lecturers of CNC and CAM courses and students of Mechanical Engineering Education who take CNC and CAM courses in the academic year 2015/2016. Questionnaire for lecturers of CNC and CAM course reviewing instructional material from aspects of learning content, interaction, and presentation of the material. The questionnaire was given to 3 lecturers consisting of 15 point statements with Rating Scale as assessment system on intervals 1-5. Questionnaire for student reviewing instructional material from aspect of learning motivation as one of instructional material function. Questionnaire was given to 26 students consisting of 20 point statements with Likert Scale as assessment system on intervals1-5. The results of the research show (1) the development of instructional material for CNC course used Adobe Flash CS6 as main software with MDLC as development procedure, (2) the evaluation results show the instructional material for CNC course that developed gets (a) in aspects of learning content, interaction, and presentation of the material, the instructional material for CNC course gets very good category with percentage 90,22%, (b) in the aspect of learning motivation as one of instructional material function, the instructional material for CNC course gets good categories with percentage 78,39%.

The objective of research was to find out the effect of current on microstructure and hardness value in Aluminium Alloy 6061 before (raw material) and after welding using Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding method with filler rod ER4043. This research uses experiment methods. Technique of analyzing data used was a descriptive comparative research. The instruments used for testing microstructure and hardness were Olympus Metallurgical Microscope and Vikers Hardness Tester. Base on the result of research, it could be concluded that the result of microstructure testing showed the reduced Mg2Si phase width after welding. In raw material, the Mg2Si phase seemed to diffuse surrounding the α-Al phase surface, but the result of welding using TIG welding method with current of I00 A, 110 A, and 115A showed that Mg2Si phase reduced in each specimen, so that α-Al phase was very dominant. The hardness value of hardness result showed the different hardness level. The specimen with current of 110A had higher hardness level of 65.4 VHN than the specimen with current of 100 A (55.7 VHN) and 115 A (55.9 VHN). The result of hardness testing on raw material was 120.4 VHN. This research showed that the welding using varying current changed microstructure and affected the hardness value of Aluminum Alloy 6061.

The aims of this research are to find out chemical composition, micro structure, the hardness level, and the strength impact of raw material and after welding using preheating and post weld heat treatment on cast wheel aluminum. Those data were analyzed using comparative descriptive method. The equipments used for measuring the chemical composition, microstructure, the hardness level, and the strength impact are as following: Spectrometer Metal Scan, Olympus Metallurgy Microscope, Vikers Hardness Tester and Charpy Tester. Based on the experiment results, it can be concluded that the chemical composition of the main constituent of cast wheel aluminum is 7,41% Si, which can be categorized in the aluminum alloy AA4343 series. The experiment results showed a decrease in the extent of the microstructure of primary Si phase after welding. Si primary phase were spread well around the surface of 12α"> -Al but the result Si after oxy-acetylene welding process with preheating and PWHT indicates that the primary Si phase is reducing so that the α-Al phase is dominating. The hardness level on the welding result decreased from raw material amounted to 103.381 kgf/mm2 be 40.112 kgf/mm2 in the welding area and 44.378 kgf/mm2 in area Heat Affected Zone (HAZ). The strength impact number on welding area showed a slight increase from the raw material areas of 0.055 joules/mm2to the welding of 0.058 joule/mm2.
