The subject of cloning has had a deep impact on both public opinion and the scientific community, asking themselves about its meaning, its possible extension to humans, its potential applications and implications.Cloning was often presented by the media as a technique that would allow perpetuating oneself. The resulting impact of cloning on public opinion might be interpreted, in part at least, as making real the dream of reincarnation. In the Christian faith cloning, as a hypothesis of reincarnation, has no place, since the soul is already immortal, while the body dies (excepting its reunion with its soul on the resurrection of the last day). Thus a person's immortality is a dogma of faith for the believer, but only as immortality of the soul, that will rejoin its body only at the end of earthly time, while in our “earthly time” the body is-mortal.The body's mortality is part of natural biological processes. Only in primitive organisms, such as bacteria, and in organisms reproducing through scions or similar processes (as farmers and florists well know) it is harder to set a definite moment for the birth or death of a single individual. But in sexually reproducing higher organisms, such as we are, the cycle of individual life is clearly encompassed and expressed by the well-known sequence whereby each individual “is born, grows, reproduces and dies”.If we consider the individual in all its manifestations – what we geneticists call the “phenotype”, resulting from the interactions between genotype and environment – each subject is undoubtedly endowed with his individuality. The repetition of the very same genotype does not mean repetition of the same individual, as clearly evidenced by the observation of identical twins (monozygotic, i.e., both derived from the same fertilized egg, the zygote) who, much as so closely resembling each other, are each endowed with his or her unique individuality.

Environmental issues can only be solved by coherent action at local, national and international levels, therefore understanding of the factors that influence the information exchange process is very important. The subject of investigation in this research is the influence of environmental information provided in the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process on the level of knowledge concerning environmental issues in the local community. A survey of public opinion of the environmental impacts of the Port of Koper in Slovenia was performed. Results show that respondents did not find the EIA presentations effective and received more information from TV, newspapers and radio. The EIA process did not fulfil its' potential, since respondents express the highest trust in expert information, but the effectiveness of the expert part of the presentation is considered to be low, not reaching the media. By improving the presentations effectiveness in the EIA process, further efforts in informing public and employees could theoretically bring the opinions of both groups to a similar level of understanding.

The Territorial Defense Force is of great interest to politicians, the media and public opinion. A great deal of misinformation and misconceptions have arisen about the subject related to the newly created type of the Polish Armed Forces. Therefore, the aim of the article is to familiarize the reader with the role, place and tasks of the Territorial Defense Force in the national system of combating terrorism based on the provisions of the law in force in Poland. The article attempts to determine the opportunities and threats under the provisions of the Act on Anti-Terrorism of June 10, 2016, and the Act amending the Act on the Universal Obligation to Defend the Republic of Poland and certain other acts of November 16, 2016, to the Territorial Defense Force and for the security of the country. Abstract The Mongol conquests and the following dominations have long been the subject of historical reevaluation by the scientific community. The spread and progressive specialization of Mongolian studies of the latest decades have also affected the westernmost of the four khanates resulted from the division of the Empire: the ulus Jochi, better known as Golden Horde. Russia’s territorial vastity, its proximity to Western Europe, and its multicultural characters have all attracted the historians’ attention to the Mongol era. By retracing the crucial historiographical passages, from nineteenth-century studies to the present day, this article aims to provide a broad and updated perspective of how the scientific debate has developed internationally and its relationship with the macro-levels of the Russian society today: from politics to public opinion.

In 1944–45 a survey was carried out on the topic of religion in a London borough, and in 1960 the survey was repeated in the same borough. In both 1945 and 1960 over forty per cent of those attending Anglican services said that they did not believe in a life after death. When due allowance has been made for the relative unreliability of public opinion sampling, it is nevertheless obvious that incredulity on this issue is widespread and probably increasing, even within the Church. There are at least two main reasons for this—that personal immortality is commonly held to be incompatible with the scientific view of man, and the apparent irrelevance of the belief for life in the here and now. The question in people's minds today is no longer what the Bible says about immortality, nor what the churches teach on the subject [if indeed they teach anything at all]. These questions can be answered by reading the Bible and by consulting manuals of doctrine. The problem is this: How is it possible in any meaningful sense to believe in a life after death in the 'sixties of the twentieth century?

Although global warming has been the subject of some public discussion since the turn of the 20th Century, it was pushed into the national spotlight during the fall of 1997, when President Bill Clinton's administration instigated a campaign to build public support for the Kyoto treaty. To examine the effect of this campaign and the debate it sparked, we conducted two national surveys, one immediately before and the other immediately after the campaign. We addressed three questions: (1) What were Americans' beliefs and attitudes about global warming before the debate? (2) Did the debate catch the public's attention? and (3) Did the debate change people's beliefs and attitudes about global warming? We found that a majority of the American general public and of the global warming “issue public” endorsed the views advocated by President Clinton before the media campaign began. The debate did attract people's attention and strengthened the public's beliefs and attitudes. The debate produced almost no changes in public opinion when the nation's population is lumped together. But beneath this apparently calm surface, strong Democrats came to endorse the positions advocated by the Clinton administration, while strong Republicans were less inclined to endorse the administration's views.

Contemporary science is a bridge between Ayurveda and modern science that enlightened the old concepts and familiar to the scientific community. It has been broadly accepted in the scientific community that the physiological functions of the body is influenced by Shatchakra. The literature review of this article explain that Intercellular gap junction or nexuses regulate physiological mechanism underlying subtle energy systems. Furthermore, electrical conduction associated with gap junctions could generate phenomena which, have the radiant qualities attributed to Chakra. This study aims to critically analyze and explore the concept of Shadchakras anatomy with its radiological evidence to prove and understand its therapeutic potential in light of contemporary science language. For this review, we had collected information from Ayurveda and modern literature on the subject of Shadchakras. ABSTRACT This study aimed to examine how the media articulates the knowledge and positions involved in the process of death and dying. Documentary research in the field of post-structuralist cultural studies. The empirical material consisted of ten interviews, published in the magazines Época and Veja, between 2000 and 2012. To delimit the corpus of analysis, we used discursive mapping by means of the software ATLAS.ti. The findings were submitted to discourse analysis inspired by Foucault. In the reports, nursing appeared linked to care for the body and technical procedures, leading to the conclusion that the media constructs the professionals' image, according to the historical attributes linked to the professions. The knowledge of medicine and of justice is authorized to teach the subject to decide and to plan the death. Power/knowledge relations are outlined that legitimize the discourse on the production of a singularized death, which must be provided by the subjects using an expert of health.

In recent years, public opinion throughout the world has been increasingly disturbed by a problem which also seems to be on the increase—that of torture. The experience of the ICRC has led to the conviction that the concern is justified and that the subject is an exceedingly grave one. Repeated and even systematic resort to torture, whether on orders from or with the tacit approval of the authorities, whether by violence or by psychological or chemical means, is a cancer which seems to be spreading, threatening the body of our civilization. Of all weapons, torture is probably the most cruel and the most harmful. Its cruelty needs no proof; the injury it does results not only from what it does to the victim, who is often forced to violate his conscience and betray his loved ones, but also to the torturers themselves and to their superiors, and finally to the whole of the country in which torture is practiced.
