In order to ascertain the extent of possible host-specialization in the Nesolechia oxyspora complex, as a pilot study ascospores from 20 collections from different parmelioid hosts representing seven genera were drawn, measured, and had length:breadth ratios calculated. The data were then subjected to multiple regression analysis using Huber-White sandwich estimators of standard errors (apparently not previously used in mycology) which take account of spores not necessarily being independent variables as they might come from the same ascus, and a statistical analysis. Significant differences between collections from seven genera were found. While the sample size was too small to reach definite conclusions, it is clear that there is a finer degree of host-relatedness than hitherto expected, which may be geno- or phenotypic. A more extensive study including species from a wider range of hosts and complemented by molecular methods will be necessary to further elucidate degrees of specificity and cryptic co-speciation in the complex. A list of the 63 reported lichen hosts is included; these are distributed though 19 genera.

The white-collar crime attorney is a lawyer who is competent in general legal principles and in the substantive and procedural aspects of the law related to upper-class financial crime. Based on a sample of 310 convicted white-collar criminals and their defence lawyers, this paper presents results from statistical analysis of relationships between crime characteristics and defence characteristics to predict lawyer fame. Statistical regression analysis was applied to the sample, where amount of crime money and years in prison represent crime characteristics, while number of client cases and lawyer income represent defence characteristics. About 91% of the variation in attorney fame is explained by these four independent variables.

The Poisson regression analysis is one of the regression methods used for count data and has the assumption of equidispersion. However, it is the overdispersion and then underestimate standard errors will be obtained. If the data are overdispersed and more data is zero then ZIP (Zero Inflated Regression) regression is used. ZIP regression model is more appropriate to be used to analyze the amount of Senior High School/Madrasah Aliyah who do not pass the exam with five independent variables, because a lot of data failure is zero. In this paper, data are overdispersed on Poisson regression, so ZIP regression are used. ZIP regression models obtained are only influenced by the proportion of Senior High School/Madrasah Aliyah classroom were damaged (X3), is and .

This study aimed to review how regression analysis has been used in studies of abstract phenomenon, such as audit quality, an importance concept in the auditing practice (Schroeder et al., 1986), yet is not well defined. The articles reviewed were the research articles that include audit quality as research variable, either as dependent or independent variables. The articles were purposefully selected to represent balance combination between audit specific and more general accounting journals and between Anglo Saxon and Anglo American journals. The articles were published between 1983-2011 and from the A/A class journal based on ERA 2010’s classifications. The study found that most of the articles reviewed used multiple regression analysis and treated audit quality as dependent variable and measured it by using a proxy. This study also highlights the size of data sample used and the lack of discussions about the assumptions of the statistical analysis used in most of the articles reviewed. This study concluded that the effectiveness and validity of multiple regressions do not only depends on its application by the researchers but also on how the researchers communicate their findings to the audience.KEYWORDSAudit quality, regression analysisABSTRAKKajian ini bertujuan untuk mereviu bagaimana analisa regresi digunakan dalam suatu fenomena abstrak seperti kualitas audit, suatu konsep yang penting dalam praktik audit (Schroeder et al., 1986) namun belum terdefinisi dengan jelas.

<p>This paper presents the methodology used in the geometrical characterization of Yucatan churches. The main aim was to determine the geometrical features of the typical profile that represent with the best accuracy the churches with canon vaults built in the south of Mexico. The methodology was structure in two phases: (1) preliminary studies and definition of the database of the Yucatan churches and (2) statistical studies on the database. After the definition of the key parameters describing the typical profile of one nave Yucatan churches, a statistical analysis was carried out through regression analysis among the different parameters and definition of histograms for the variables. An attempt to describe the key parameters as a function of the span of the churches was also performed. Based on the results obtained, it seems that the Yucatan’s churches were built totally in an intuitive way as they do not present clear numerical relationships between geometrical key parameters.</p>

This study discusses the relationship between academic self-efficacy and academic self-concept with academic achievement. The design of the study was descriptive - correlational, with a study sample of 192 children. Statistical Analysis with SPSS computer method (Statistical Package for Social Science) version 17.0 for windows is used to find out characteristics of the respondents, and the regression analysis between the two independent variables (self-efficacy and academic self-concept academic) and the dependent variable (academic achievement) produce models regression . The results showed only variable Self-Efficacy (SE) contributes positively to academic achievement. It is supported by the value of t-statistic greater than 1, 645 for the value . Hence it can be said that the dependent variable (academic achievement) can be predicted with self-efficacy academic.

The purpose of this study is to develop and validate a faith scale for young children. Data were collected from 424 young children, who had not yet entered elementary school, with their parents rating their faith level. Sixty-five preliminary questions were formulated under three domains―knowing, loving, and living—that were based on existing studies related to faith. The questions were reduced to 40 through a content validity test conducted by a seven-member panel. These questions were subsequently refined through pilot study, main survey, and statistical analysis. After exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, the scale was finalized, comprising 25 questions that can be categorized into three factors: confessional faith life, missional life, and distinctive life. This scale is expected to measure early childhood faith and prove the effectiveness of Christian education programs on a young child’s faith development.

Background The HEADPOST Pilot is a proof-of-concept, open, prospective, multicenter, international, cluster randomized, phase IIb controlled trial, with masked outcome assessment. The trial will test if lying flat head position initiated in patients within 12 h of onset of acute ischemic stroke involving the anterior circulation increases cerebral blood flow in the middle cerebral arteries, as measured by transcranial Doppler. The study will also assess the safety and feasibility of patients lying flat for ≥24 h. The trial was conducted in centers in three countries, with ability to perform early transcranial Doppler. A feature of this trial was that patients were randomized to a certain position according to the month of admission to hospital. Objective To outline in detail the predetermined statistical analysis plan for HEADPOST Pilot study. Methods All data collected by participating researchers will be reviewed and formally assessed. Information pertaining to the baseline characteristics of patients, their process of care, and the delivery of treatments will be classified, and for each item, appropriate descriptive statistical analyses are planned with comparisons made between randomized groups. For the outcomes, statistical comparisons to be made between groups are planned and described. Results This statistical analysis plan was developed for the analysis of the results of the HEADPOST Pilot study to be transparent, available, verifiable, and predetermined before data lock. Conclusions We have developed a statistical analysis plan for the HEADPOST Pilot study which is to be followed to avoid analysis bias arising from prior knowledge of the study findings. Trial registration The study is registered under HEADPOST-Pilot, ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier NCT01706094.

Purpose: Our aim was to explore the relation between FA and ADC, number and length of the periprostatic neurovascular fibers (PNF) by means of 1.5 T Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) imaging through a multivariate linear regression analysis model. Methods: For this retrospective study, 56 patients (mean age 63.5 years), who underwent 1.5-T prostate MRI, including DTI, were enrolled between October 2014 and December 2018. Multivariate regression analysis was performed to evaluate the statistically significant correlation between FA values (dependent variable) and ADC, the number and the length of PNF (independent variables), if p-value <0.05. A value of 0.5 indicated poor agreement; 0.5–0.75, moderate agreement; 0.75–0.9, good agreement; 0.61–0.80, good agreement; and 0.9–1.00, excellent agreement. Results: The overall fit of the multivariate regression model was excellent, with R2 value of 0.9445 ( R2 adjusted 0.9412; p < 0.0001). Multivariate linear regression analysis showed a statistically significant correlation ( p < 0.05) for all the three independent variables. The r partial value was −0.9612 for ADC values ( p < 0.0001), suggesting a strong negative correlation, 0.4317 for the number of fiber tracts ( p < 0.001), suggesting a moderate positive correlation, and −0.306 for the length of the fiber tracts ( p < 0.05), suggesting a weak negative correlation. Conclusions: Our multivariate linear regression model has demonstrated a statistically significant correlation between FA values of PNF with other DTI parameters, in particular with ADC.
