The ability of mathematical communication is contained in the curriculum and objectives of mathematics learning. Through mathematical communication is expected to improve students abilities of mathematical concepts. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of mathematical communication ability of junior high school students on the material system of two linear equations. This research is a descriptive research with qualitative approach. The study time was held in the even semester of the academic year 2017/2018. The subjects of the study were students of SMP class VIII in Cimahi city as many as 33 students. Data collection methods used are test methods, observation and documentation. Based on the results of data analysis showed the students mathematical communication ability of SMP on linear equation system two variables were obtained: (1) students ability in reflecting real objects, drawings and diagrams into mathematics idea with percentage of 81,08%; (2) students ability to explain ideas, situations and mathematical relations both orally and in writing using real objects, images, graphs and algebraic expressions with percentage of 33,33%; (3) the ability of students to declare daily events in language or mathematical symbols or to construct an event mathematical model of 18.18%; (4) students ability in explaining and making math questions studied for 7.58% and (5) students ability in making conjectures, formulating arguments, formulating definitions and generalizations of 7.58%.

The purpose of this researchis to improve mathematical communication ability of the students in class VIII A in two variabels equation system by using Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) approach at SMPN 2 Cariu. The type of this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) by using spiral research model from Kemmis and McTaggart with the sample of this research is all students of class VIII A SMPN 2 Cariu. This research consists of two cycles where each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation and replection, which is before and after this research is given the instruments in the essay from in each cycle, there is an observation sheet of the teacher and students activity during in the learning progress. The result of this research is to indicate the students mathematical communication aibility can be improve through the application of the Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) approach.

This study is a pre test-post test experiment with control group design having a goal to analyze  the role of scientific approach on students’ mathematical communication ability (MCA) and self confidence (SC). The study involves 46  eleventh grade Vocational School students, a mathematical communication test, a mathematical  self confidence scale (MSC), and a perception on scientific approach scale. The study found that on MCA and its Normalized Gain (N<G>), students getting treatment with scientific approach attained  better grades than the grades of students taught by conventional teaching, but both student’s grades were still at low-medium level.  On MSC,  there was no different grades between students on both teaching approaches, and those grades were at medium level.  The other findings, there is no association between MCA and MSC, and students performed high perception toward scientific approach.

This research aims to describe the students’ mathematical communication ability by using cooperative learning talking stick type. This research conducted at one of junior high school in Asahan-North Sumatera- North Sumatera. This research used posttest experimental class design as the method to obtain data. The indicators used to measure mathematical communication ability in this research arranged in three, as follows: 1) the ability of explaining a mathematical problem into figure; 2) the ability to explain mathematical problem situations by own words; 3) the ability of stating a mathematical problem in writing into mathematical models and doing calculation to solve the problem. The result found from this research is there are the differences in the students’ way of answering the problem even though the learning model and the instrument used is same.

The main purpose of this study to investigate the ability of mathematical communication ofHigh School Students, as a result of learning mathematics through application RealisticMathematics Education (RME). Research design used was a quasi experimental. Subjects inthis study consisted of 70 students of class VII Junior High School, Junior High School on oneof the states in Bandung academic year 2015/2016. Subject determined by purposivesampling techniques, and this study using pretest-posttest design of the control group. Datacollected with a mathematical communication ability test descriptions. Data were analyzedusing parametric statistical tests which is Test Independent Sample T-Test and nonparametrical tests which is Test Mann-Whitney. The results showed that: (1) students wholearn math with RME approach has a better ability mathematical communication of studentswho do not learn math with RME; (2) increasing mathematical communication ability ofstudents who learn with RME better than students who do not learn with RME; (3) students'attitudes toward learning mathematics through RME showed a positive attitude.

This study aims to determine (1) the mathematical communication ability of students taught by the gallery walk type cooperative learning model is higher than the mathematical communication skills of students taught by conventional learning models (2) student responses through the application of the gallery walk type cooperative learning model to communication skills. mathematics students of SMP Negeri 8 Padangsidimpuan. The research method used is quasi-experimental. The population of this study were all seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 8 Padangsidimpuan. Sampling using simple random sampling. The sample is class VII-2 as the experimental class and class VII-1 as the control class. Data collection using a mathematical communication ability test sheet. The results showed (1) t_(count )= 3.56 and t_(table )= 1.67 or) t_(count ) > t_(table ) so that it can be concluded that students' mathematical communication skills are taught by cooperative learning model type gallery walk is higher than the mathematical communication ability of students who are taught by conventional learning models. (2) Based on the results of student responses, an average score of 3.55 was obtained so that it can be concluded that student responses through the application of the gallery walk type cooperative learning model to the mathematical communication skills of SMP Negeri 8 Padangsidimpuan students were very positive.
