With the development of wireless communication technology and computer technology, more and more smart technologies have been applied in electricity distribution networks. This paper presents an adaptive current differential protection and fast auto-closing system for application in 10 kV distribution networks in China Southern Power Grid. The current differential protection can adaptively change its settings according to the topology change of the primary distribution networks, thus the system effectively reduces the operation and maintenance cost of the power distribution network. In order to restore the power supply for the healthy part of the 10 kV networks quickly after a power system fault is cleared, the protection and control system provides wide area control function for automatic fault isolation and automatic switching. The traditional overcurrent protection and control system have no fault location function, it may take several minutes or even hours to manually locate a fault and then restore the power supply. Compared with the protection and control system of the traditional 10 kV distribution networks, the system developed can locate and isolate faults within 900 ms (assuming that the operating time of the load switch is 700 ms), and can quickly restore power supply in less than one second after a power system fault is cleared.

This article discusses the possibility of using a multicopter type aircraft as a transport vehicle in urban environments. This type of transport is the most promising in the near future, given the constantly growing number of traffic jams in large cities. The assessment of this aircraft is presented, taking into account the reliability requirements specified in the regulatory documents. The analysis of the aviation regulations requirements in terms of the aircraft systems reliability was carried out. Also the paper presents six options for the multicopter layout with a different number of propellers, taking into account the propeller control system, power supply system and control system. Other onboard systems are not considered, since their failures do not lead to an aircraft crash. An assessment of these options, taking into account the multicopter most critical onboard equipment layout according to reliability criterion by budgeting the requirements for one thrust generation channel, is given. Fault trees and failure situations that lead to a disastrous situation are also presented for each multicopter layout separately, as well as proposals for the number of independent channels for the power supply system and control system. Based on the set quantitative requirements for the occurrence of a catastrophic situation for the main on-board equipment and various layout options, taking into account the number of propellers and proposals for their architecture, power supply systems and control systems the most promising multicopter architecture options are determined. They meet the requirements for failure safety for a catastrophic situation.

Currently, we are witnessing active development of urban building construction, which dictates new requirements for the infrastructure of water supply and sanitation. These requirements are aimed at improving the reliability and compliance with stringent environmental standards. Dispatch supervision and control of water supply networks are among the key tasks that have to be solved under such conditions. The problem of implementing such systems lies in difficulty of setting up power supply to the equipment used in these systems. The power supply of such systems is as a rule provided by using storage batteries, which entails the need for periodic maintenance of these systems and thereby increases the cost of their operation. The problem can be solved by using an autonomous source of electricity. The energy of the water flow in the pipeline is proposed to be used as such source. The possibility of setting up an autonomous dispatch control system for housing and utility services based on a hydrogenerator is estimated. The study is carried out by analyzing the hydraulic parameters of a bypass pipeline installed on a large-diameter pipeline. To determine the flow velocity and pressure in the bypass pipeline, the fluid flow is modeled in it. The modeling results and their subsequent analysis made it possible to calculate the range of power produced by the hydrogenerator and estimate the possibility of setting up an autonomous dispatch control system.

In this work the replacement of the I&C connected with the four main pumps in a Polish research reactor called “Maria” is discussed. In particular, this paper focuses on the aspect of the whole system of pump parameters measurements (temperature, vibrations, power) and pump control system. The whole architecture of the I&C system (including power supply, redundancy of electrical and control system) will be showed. During the I&C replacement some problems arose, such as the change in the pump control system from analog to digital system; the link existing in the reactor part of the measurement made in analogue to a digital system, as part of the measurements, which were carried out in an old control system; the code for the PLC controller program dedicated exclusively to the requirements of control systems pumps. All of these problems will be discussed here, together with the proposed solutions. Moreover, I&C functional and operational tests carried out after the placement of the pumps will be described, such as loss of power and failure of one PLC controller.
