With the improvement of China's international status, integrated transport concept has become firmly rooted. Integrated urban rail transport system as part of comprehensive transportation has become an important means to ease urban traffic problems, is not only an urgent demand for transport services and residents, but also the need to build a conservation-oriented society. In this paper, for the current problems of urban transport ,research on building the rail transportation system of Hohhot, considering from the city policy, technology, economics, management aspects, etc., demonstrate the reasonableness of the transport system construction, technically advanced and the economic viability and feasibility of construction management while analyzing factors affecting the construction of rail transportation system, thus providing a scientific basis for investment and decision-making.

With the continuous expansion of urban scale, blindly increasing or controlling transportation infrastructure possibly creates a short board in an urban system. In this study, a macro traffic integrated system was constructed according to a city's economic size distribution and transportation infrastructure. The planning strategy of traffic, industry, space interaction and coordinated development was put forward. Through theoretical model, the evolution mechanism between transportation infrastructure and economic scale distribution was revealed. Starting from the center of the city and inter city level, China's new urbanization strategy was implemented, and a comprehensive transportation system model was built. The traffic planning in Singapore was taken as an example, and the solution to traffic problems such as congestion, traffic jam, and distance was obtained. Practice has proved that the rational and effective urban transportation infrastructure construction can effectively promote the coordinated development of economy and resources, and comprehensively enhance the level of integrated transport services.

This paper provides an overview of the recent development of urban rail systems in Chinese cites and the challenges ahead. China is set to become the world leader in length of metro lines in operation in the near to medium term. In view of the large scale of this investment, a focus on the overall economic and financial viability of these systems is needed. On the basis of analytical work supporting a project investment in the city of Kunming and a study tour of urban rail systems in China, this paper highlights four areas believed to be crucial in meeting these objectives: integration of new metro systems with existing systems of public transport, a supportive overall urban transport policy, transit-oriented development, and long-term financial sustainability. The conclusion is that in all of these areas, China possesses tools that may enable the program to succeed if they are used effectively and in concert. Any issues appear to result from a lack of attention to these four areas and from a managerial focus on ensuring the completion of the construction program above all other concerns. The RMB 1 trillion investment in urban rail construction under way in China needs to be a catalyst for joint action on the issues identified in this paper (RMB 1 is approximately US$0.15). Otherwise, Chinese cities may be left with an investment that carries large long-term costs and does not deliver the crucial economic benefits expected.

On the basis of the literature review and secondary research results presented in the article, it should be stated that the continuous modernization of the rolling stock used to provide collective urban transport services is one of the main tools to encourage urban residents to abandon the use of passenger cars for collective transport. In order to make the rolling stock modernization process as smoothly as possible, it is necessary to carry out and then settle tenders for city buses. In the article, the primary research on the criteria used to evaluate offers in tender procedures for city buses in Poland was presented using descriptive statistics. The article also attempts to discuss whether the current weightings of the price criterion and non-price criteria reflect their share in the total cost of the life cycle of the city bus.

The article presents the concept of an integrated rail transport system in Radom, based on classical and dual-system trams, taking into account the role of regional rail in servicing urban and agglomeration transport. The development of the concept of the tram network in Radom was presented and then the analysis of the conditions for the development of urban rail transport was made. The article is a synthetic description of the author's version of the city transport service model, with an emphasis on the integration of various transport modes, as well as technical, operational and organizational aspects essential in planning the connection of the tram and railway layout in Polish conditions.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationships between public transport services and the financial needs. Cities require to be equipped with public transport networks as they are primarily responsible for creation of wealth for countries and to ensure sustainability of urbanization. Once decisions have been taken to design, build and operate such networks, it is equally important to set rules for urban transport financing. Depending on the city size and other factors, authorities allocate resources. Nonetheless, is there a relationship between the size of the city and its public transport financial needs? This paper develops a model to explain such relationships. Design/methodology/approach The study develops a spatial model, while providing intuition through the use of graphs, to solve the question of the amount of resources allocated for financing the transport services. Findings It is verified that those financial needs are more than proportional to the size of the city; when a city grows in its number of boroughs, economic funds needed to support public transport have to increase in a greater proportion in comparison to the growth of boroughs growth. The model states a formula valid for explaining the financial needs. Originality/value The model is interesting as it explains why large metropolitan areas need special financial aid from authorities. Real life shows that big cities like Paris, Berlin or Madrid need extraordinary funds for this purpose, and in most of the cases, specific national laws are required for financing public transport networks in these large metropolitan areas.

Twenty five years ago, the Municipal Transportation Board in Gdynia (ZKM) was launched. As part of the process of changes in the transport service of Gdynia and neighboring municipalities, a unit was created to organize public transport. A specialized urban transport organizer has been set up to improve the quality of public transport services. During the 25 years of operation of ZKM, the level of quality of service has been improved significantly, adjusting the transport offer to the demand and transportation preferences of inhabitants, learned through systematic representative marketing research. Trolleybus transport has been modernized, thanks to trolleybuses having an energy storage tank. Transport services within the network of ZKM are carried out by operators owned by the City of Gdynia and competing private entities. Before ZKM there are challenges related to the constantly increasing expectations of the inhabitants in terms of quality of service and the changing conditions of their service in the situation of strong development of motorization and implementation of the policy of sustainable urban transport development. The article presents the tasks and scope of activities of ZKM, bus, midibus, microbus and trolleybus transport organized by ZKM, operators contracted by ZKM, supervision and regulation of traffic in the transport network of ZKM, transport service of mass events by ZKM, marketing research conducted by ZKM, customer service by ZKM, quality evaluation of ZKM services and future challenges standing ahead of this unit.

The aim of this paper is to determine, based on conducted marketing research, the level of passenger satisfaction with public transport services for the purpose of making better marketing decisions in the example of the City of Belgrade. The main task is to test the hypothesis on the existence of significant influence of factors, such as quality service, attitude and behaviour of employees (e.g. driver), adequate informing, quality of vehicles, line routes and timetable, on passenger satisfaction. Correlation coefficient and regression analysis were used for interpreting the obtained results and examining the formulated hypothesis. Empirical research has shown that there is a significant correlation between the aforementioned factors and passenger satisfaction with public transport services. The obtained results provided recommendations and guidelines for improving and increasing the quality of public transport services. The research results also provide the basis for future research that could examine the relationship between passenger satisfaction with services and sub-groups within the analyzed factors.

In modern large cities, taxi fleet is a significant component of the urban transport system. The degree of development and impact of taxi services on quality of transport services for residents and users traveling in the city depends on many factors. But one of the basic ones is the optimal ratio of the number of taxi cars and the demand for transportation by them. The objective of the article was an analytical review of scientific research and practical work in the field of methods for solving the problems of organizing and operating taxi services, in particular, determining the existing population demand for taxi transportation and the required number of taxi cars. For analysis, the research used the method of content analysis of the works of authors of several countries, including Russian ones. The conducted analysis of existing approaches to determining the demand of the population for taxi transportation and to calculating the required number of taxi cars showed that at present there is no single universally recognized method for this. The methods used are based on various methods which comprise statistical, sociological (surveys, observations), mathematical methods. The analysis of big data obtained using information systems of megacities is increasingly being used. It is concluded that there is an objective need for research in the field of developing a universal methodology for determining the required (limit) number of taxi cars in metropolitan areas.
