Value chain analysis is used to discover the distribution of the supply of raw materials and the marketing of industrial products. The research study focus was located in Gamplong Tourism Village, Sleman regency, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. The aims of this research were to 1) map the value chain of the weaving industry in Gamplong Tourism Village; 2) to identify existing obstacles to the weaving industry in Gamplong Tourism Village and 3) to determine appropriate strategies to minimise the obstacles in the weaving industry in Gamplong Tourism Village. The analysis used in this research was a descriptive analysis. The respondents in this study were 47 industry actors, the distributors of raw materials and marketing individuals. Data collection was conducted using a census and in-depth interviews with the weaving industry actors. This was snowballed to the distributor. Based on the results of the research, the value chain of the weaving industrial products as a whole consists of six actors, namely raw material suppliers, raw material distributors, weaving industry actors, distributors, retail traders, and consumers. The household industry value chain differs from the small and medium industry value chain. Some of the obstacles to the Gamplong weaving industry are the length of the value chain, no labour regeneration, and less tourism village development. Therefore, strategies to reduce these obstacles include cutting down the value chains, managing human resources, and increasing the promotion strategies used.

Palm oil is one of important Indonesia's export commodities.  In 2017, the export value of palm oil and its derivatives (excluding oleochemicals and biodiesel) penetrated US $ 22.97 billion. The bright prospect of the palm oil commodity in the world vegetable oil trade encouraged the Indonesian government to develop an integrated palm oil industry. On the other hand, some downstream petrochemical products have begun to experience difficulties in raw materials, including Polyurethane. Polyurethane is a polymeric material from polyols and isocyanates which are widely used as packaging. Polyol itself is a polyether produced from the petroleum fraction. The polyol industry can be developed in the industrial tree branch of glycerol / glycerin in the large palm oil industry tree. Glycerin is generally the most end product of the palm oil fractionation industry, after cooking oil, margarine, shortening, and soap. In addition, glycerin is also a by-product of fatty acid esterification during biodiesel production. The value chain analysis carried out in the palm oil industry chain shows that polyol production has added new pathways that can extend the palm oil downstream industry chain. Analysis carried out on the main chain and the combined oil palm industry chain has been successfully used to map the polyol industry value chain on the palm oil track. The extension of the palm oil industry value chain on the polyol industry pathway can unite the industry with the chain of production of the petrochemical industry, in this case polyurethane, which at least can help substitute raw materials. A more detailed analysis of the perceptions of the role of the polyol industry in two directions, namely the palm oil industry chain with the polyurethane industry shows that there is a very large intersection of interests. Almost all perceptions of the role of key value chain activities in the polyurethane industry can be covered by the role of the value chain main activities in the palm oil polyol industry. Both value chains can be said to complement and complement each other. The production of polyester polyols can be absorbed by the needs of the polyurethane industry.

Title: Supply Chain Analysis for Pangasius Pasupati AquacultureDevelopment at Tulungagung, East JavaAquaculture development of Pangasius sp. were driven by high demand of white meat ofpangasius. Indonesian Pangasius production such as Siamese conjoined with red meat is less preferredin the International market, it is necessary for the development of Pangasius aquaculture which haswhite meat. This research aimed to analyzed supply chain of Pasupati catfish that has been developedin Tulungagung. The method used is supply and value chain analysis approached. Data collected wereprimary and secondary data through literature studies and surveys of fish farmer , traders and keyinformants such as researchers and officers of relevant agencies . Data analysis in this research weredescriptive and quantitative. Based on the analysis, comparison of pasupati and siamese pangasiusvalue chain from farmers with land area of 530 m2 to fish fillet factory indicated that Siamese catfishfarmers gain more than pasupati catfish farmer. The value chain comparison of Pasupati and Siamesepangasius trading conjoined from the traders to the fillet factories is that Pasupati gained more profit ofselling. It happened because the price of Pasupati is better in fillet factories. Some development strategiesin Pangasius Development are: 1) Establishing The regional center of Pangasius at Tulungagung,2 ) Optimizing the facility of Fish Breeding Center owned the Agency with Sukamandi Fish Breeding Research Center (Marine and Fisheries Research and Development Agency) for seed production ofPangasius, 3) Strengthening the Pasupati aquaculture technology based on Standard of Aquaculture, 4)Strengthening the human resource capacity for pangasius waste treatment, 5) Reopen the independentfeed mills based on society with the raw material from the pangasius waste, and 6) Market intelligencefor pricing, untill the Pasupati business at farmers are not less than Siamese pangasius.

Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) is of strategic importance to the Ghanaian economy. It is the second most important industrial crop after cocoa and is used widely in local food preparation as well as in industrial processing. In spite of its importance, however, oil palm has consistently underperformed since the early twentieth century. This paper conducts a value chain analysis of the crop, foregrounding the political economy factors that shape the performance of the sector. It draws on a combination of in-depth interviews conducted in March 2020 with a variety of value chain actors and a review of the secondary literature. Additionally, between late May and early June 2020, twelve further interviews were conducted as part of a rapid market survey to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the value chain.

AbstractA global shortfall in protein supply from capture fisheries has motivated the Malaysian government to revise its aquaculture strategy, focusing on three commodities: seaweed, fish and marine shrimp. However, the performance of the Malaysian aquaculture sector, particularly seaweed production, is poorly documented. This is the first empirical study to undertake a value chain analysis (VCA) of the Malaysian seaweed sector using stakeholder perceptions and secondary data that encompass members of seaweed farming cooperatives (the Semporna Area Farmers’ Association and the governments’ flagship Seaweed Cluster Project). Fieldwork was conducted between April and June 2015 among seaweed stakeholders involved in the value chain using a mixed methods approach—in-depth interviews with key informants, focus group discussions, household surveys, personal observation and secondary data. Qualitative and quantitative data were collected from both upstream (seaweed farming, marketing structure and the Malaysian Good Aquaculture Practices [MyGAP] certification programme) and downstream (seaweed processing) activities involving farmers, intermediaries/middlemen (buyers), processors and officials. Kappaphycus spp. was sold in two forms: (1) dried seaweed to be used as raw materials in carrageenan processing (approximately 90% of total harvest) and (2) fresh seaweed to be used as a source of seedlings (approximately 10% of total harvest). The value chain ended with the carrageenan form, which is exported to international markets. The price of dried seaweed varied according to a combination of seaweed quality, the strength of farmer’s relationships with intermediaries and processors and in response to demand from the carrageenan industry. The prices obtained by Malaysian farmers for dried seaweed and carrageenan remained low, US$ 0.60 and US$ 4.43 per kg, respectively, despite efforts by the government to enhance the value chain by imposing seaweed standards (via MyGAP) for farm management, dried seaweed and semi-refined carrageenan. The VCA was a useful tool to identify and map the market, with the results providing a better understanding of the seaweed sector, which could be helpful in supporting further aquaculture development in Malaysia.
