Kata kunci: Limbah Minyak Jelantah, Penyuluhan, Pengharum Ruangan, ABDIMAS, Ibu-ibu PKK ABSTRACT The used oil (waste cooking oil) is a vegetable oil that has been used for frying. The use of cooking oil affects the economic value of the cooking oil lower than unused oil. Besides that, the carcinogenic nature of used oil is very dangerous for the body. Utilization of used cooking oil has not been carried out optimally, because of the amount of used oil that has been used several times by restaurants, and afterward only available just like that, is not used for other products. The process of making room air freshener from used cooking oil becomes an alternative solution to the problem raised. In the manufacture of air fresheners, used oil is used as a substitute for natural oils, which are the main ingredients for fragrances. Community service activities through counseling on the manufacture of air freshener made from used cooking oil were carried out on PKK women in Pamulang Park Residence, Pamulang Barat, Tangerang City, Banten. Counseling was conducted using the lecture and demo method directly in front of the activity participants. The results obtained from this activity were participants who liked to take part in the demonstration of used cooking oil (waste cooking oil) for air freshener. The participants were happy because they were adding knowledge about the use of used cooking oil. It is hoped that by conducting this outreach activity, PKK ladies in this housing can participate in efforts to improve the competitiveness of their region by using used cooking oil. Karya Merdeka Village is very famous for its oil palm plantations. Nearly 27% of the population work as oil palm farm laborers. In irrigating the plantations, they use diesel fueled rice cookers. Based on field surveys, 1 liter of diesel can be used for 2 hours to drive the dompeng machine. Means that in a month, residents need 30 liters of diesel fuel. If 1 liter costs IDR 6000, farmers will incur a cost of IDR 180,000 per month. Of course this needs to be balanced with an idea / innovation to reduce the expenditure of farmers in supplying diesel to their dompeng machines. Therefore, the Balikpapan State Polytechnic Lecturer team of the Electrical Engineering Department contributed significantly to the Community Service Activities (PkM) held at the Karya Merdeka Kelurahan Office, Kutai Kertanegara Regency in socializing a technology that can recycle used cooking oil into biodiesel, through a process of mixing with methanol and NaOH. The method of making it is quite simple, namely used cooking oil at a temperature of 40 degrees. For the right results, use a digital thermostat. The dose is 1 liter of used cooking oil mixed with half a liter of methanol and 0.1 mg NaOH. Stir until evenly distributed and leave for 24 hours. The result is biodiesel (clear color) and glycerol (the precipitate). Biodiesel is one alternative energy source that is environmentally friendly and proven to be economical in its implementation. It has the same function as Soilar, which is able to drive generators and dompeng engines, but is 3 times more efficient than diesel, which is 1 liter of biodiesel equivalent to 3 liters of diesel. It means that biodiesel is three times more efficient than diesel.

Used cooking oil are oils that have been used for cooking in restaurants, hotels, food industries, and households. They are dangerous waste when inappropriately disposed since it can interrupt the sewer system or be illegally reprocessed. To combat the issue, the government of Jakarta designed the UCO to Biodiesel supply chain in the Governor’s Regulation number 167 of 2016. However, it has yet to manage households despite potentially producing 210.465,31 litres of UCO per day. The goal of this community service is to create a collection system and to increase awareness of the dangers and potential of UCO in Bassura City Apartment, located in East Jakarta, which did not have UCO collection system. The collection system considers sustainability in terms of not only the environment but also social and economic. The community service is split into five steps: creating local partnerships, supply chain planning, awareness raising by socialization, monitoring and evaluation. Local partnership was created between the local mosque Al-Falah as local UCO collector, BeliJelantah the medium sized UCO collector, and Universitas Bakrie. UCO collected by Al-Falah is bought by BeliJelantah at a rate of Rp4,000.00 /litre. BeliJelantah provides basic equipment such as jerrycans and sieve. Socialization was partially done regularly before sermon and online due to Covid-19 restrictions. Since the implementation of the collection system, Al-Falah mosque has collected 33 Litres which was converted into Rp134,000.00. Sustainability of the collection of used cooking oil will be carried out by residents and the DKM Masjid in direct coordination with BeliJelantah by taking a minimum of 2 jerrycans with a volume of 18 litre or the equivalent of 36 litre. This system can be scaled up by increasing partnerships with more local groups and local management.

This community service activity for processing used cooking oil into biodiesel was carried out at Banyuasin III SMPN 5, South Sumatra. Around the school there are many fried traders and tent stalls that have the potential to produce used cooking oil. Seeing this potential, the community service team of the Sriwijaya Polytechnic Department of Chemical Engineering provided training to students and teachers of the South Sumatra Banyuasin SMPN 5 to make laboratory-scale biodiesel from used cooking oil. Biodiesel production can be used to increase the potential of human resources and preserve the environment from used cooking oil pollutants. The method of implementing this service activity is with the pattern of field schools with press points on the exploration of knowledge, awareness of the environment, and skills and forms of approach taken to increase the motivation of students and teachers as partners and able to process used cooking oil into biodiesel by socializing about the importance of saving fossil fuels, protecting the environment and producing alternative fuels from used cooking oil which are often found in everyday life.
