Assessing the grip of the road surface is an extremely important task both in the field of traffic management, and in the field of investigation and examination of traffic accidents. The coupling quality of the road surface is fully ensured by the grip coefficient, which is subject to constant monitoring in order to ensure road safety. There are a large number of methods for determining the magnitude of the grip coefficient. In their study, the authors propose an improved approach for determining the investigated value using the weather and climate factor. Previously, a group of researchers in the course of scientific research determined the dependence of the grip coefficient on the temperature of the road surface, as a result of mathematical analysis, the authors obtained a dependence that allows to determine the studied value by air temperature and the condition of the road surface (presence of precipitation). The performed experiment allowed us to test the obtained dependence within the framework of the object of study and to make a comparative assessment of the results obtained with the data obtained using the road laboratory.

The article reviews the stability of an automobile on the road pavement with ruts. The problems of road safety depend on many factors. One of those is the quality of the road surface. Big heavy lorries deform the road surface causing ruts especially in the first line of the road. The article analyzes the influence of the geometry of ruts on the stability of the automobile. A mathematical model of a 3D automobile and the interaction between wheels and the road surface and the geometry of the road surface are presented. The mathematical criterion of the stability of the moving automobile on the road surface with ruts is laid down. The results of mathematical simulation and the criterion of the stability of the moving automobile (60 km/h) on the road surface depending on the depth of ruts are introduced.

Abstract   The fatality rate of traffic accidents in Sleman Regency is increasing every year. This study aims to identify black spots and set priorities for repairing road infrastructure components needed to improve road safety on 3 provincial roads in Sleman Regency. The black spot is determined using the Accident Equivalence Number Method and the Upper Control Limit. The evaluation carried out resulted in the 3 worst segments on each observed road segment. The results of the road safety evaluation show that the technical implementation of traffic management and engineering, the technical use of road components, and the technicality of road equipment are the 3 technical requirements of the road with the lowest level of application. To improve road safety, this study recommends adding rumble strips, adding signs, relocating roadside hazards, and adding sidewalks and crossing zones.   Keywords: fatality; black spots; traffic accident; road; road safety.     Abstrak   Tingkat fatalitas kecelakaan lalu lintas di Kabupaten Sleman meningkat setiap tahun. Every year, tens of thousands of road traffic accidents occur on the territory of Russia, characterized by different accident rates. Some of the most common are road traffic accidents, in the place of which violations of the mandatory requirements for the operational state of highways and railway crossings have been recorded under the conditions of ensuring road safety. The condition of the asphalt concrete road surface affects the grip performance of the vehicle with the road. It is necessary to study the statistics of road traffic accidents in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation located in different road and climatic zones in order to determine the dependence and the degree of influence of the state of the road surface on the number of accidents occurring.

Every year we lose many young road users in road traffic accidents. Based on traffic accident data issued by the Indonesian National Police in 2017, the number of casualties was highest in the age group 15-19, with 3,496 minor injuries, 400 seriously injured and 535 deaths. This condition is very alarming considering that student as the nation's next generation lose their future due to the accidents. This figure does not include other traffic violations, not having a driver license, not wearing a helmet, driving opposite the direction, those given ticket and verbal reprimand. To reduce traffic accident for young road user, road safety campaigns were organized in many schools in Jakarta. This activity aims to socialize the road safety program to increase road safety awareness among young road users/students including the dissemination of Law No. 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation. Another purpose of this program is to accompany school administrators to set up a School Safe Zone (ZoSS), a location on particular roads in the school environment that are time-based speed zone to set the speed of the vehicle. The purpose of this paper is to promote the road safety campaigns strategies by considering various campaign tools.

The quality of implementation, drainage, materials that do not meet the standards, and overloaded from the specified class of roads are the main causes of road damage. Thus violations and negligence both in the implementation or maintenance of the road can cause a lot of traffic accidents, damage to vehicles, and various things that can disrupt the comfort and safety of drivers or pedestrians. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of polypropylene plastic as an additive in the Asphalt Concrete-Wearing Course (AC-WC) layer. The use of polypropylene waste used as an additive is around 2.5%; 3.5%; 4.5%; and 5.5% of the asphalt weight. Based on the results of the analysis it was concluded that the mixture of AC-WC with the addition of polypropylene plastic experienced increased stability and decreased melting. Polypropylene plastic which can be used based on the five Marshall test parameters with the highest value of stability and lowest melting is 4.5% of the weight of asphalt.

The driver of an automobile is the key part of the “driver–car–road–environment” system, the stable functioning of which determines the efficiency and safety of road traffic. The driver as the operator of the “driver –car–road–environment” system receives most of the information from the road, data from moving and standing objects, road signs, traffic lights, surface conditions and traffic conditions. An analysis of most traffic accidents shows that the weakest part of the “driver–car–road–environment" system, restricting its effectiveness and dependability, is the person. To ensure the necessary dependability and safety, the driver of any vehicle must be careful. This is supported by an appropriate psychophysiological state, which, in turn, depends on many factors. The article presents an analysis of research work taking into account the influence of various factors on the dependability of a vehicle driver. Means and methods of research are described. Recommendations are given on creating a stand for studying the influence of the psychophysiological state of the driver on road safety. Traffic roads are a core element of GIS and many volunteered systems like openstreetmaps have the goal to make road data publicly available. Road users collecting geographical information and sharing them according some rules are a great opportunity to make our roads a safer place. Traffic accidents are a major cause of death and with increase in urbanization and motorization the risk is expected to rise higher. Research regarding road safety is mostly reactive; sections of the road where a lot of accidents has already happened are investigated and possibly causes are identified and then improved. This means, that people have to die in order to make those road sections safe. The system described in this chapter is a proactive method and can be operated by the community or some responsible authority. The gathered data is also very useful for different research areas like social sciences or civil engineering.
