This study is aimed at determining the piezoelectric configuration for generating electricity from wave power through the design of a prototype model named Cov-TOTal. The study was carried out in Tomini Bay, Lopo Village, Batudaa Pantai District, Gorontalo Regency, located at approximately ±50 meters from the shoreline, while the piezoelectric construction was arranged in parallel with varying numbers of 28, 70, and 90 pieces. The result showed that the amount of piezoelectric configuration affects the value of the voltage and electric current generated by the Cov-TOTal model. Furthermore, the average electric voltage values were 17.58, 20.76, and 29.85 volts, while the average current was 1.16, 1.73, and 2.01 mA for each piezoelectric amount. Therefore, the largest values of power and electrical energy for each piezoelectric are 16.65 mW and 0.56 joules, 31.82 mW and 1.20 joules, and 44.59 mW and 1.77 joules, respectively. This study concluded that the amount of piezoelectric configuration has a significant effect on the voltage, current, power, and electrical energy produced.

Ocean wave power generation techniques (converting wave energy into electrical energy) have been in use for many years. The objective of this paper is to review the design, control, efficiency, and safety of ocean wave power generation systems. Several topics are discussed: the current situation of ocean wave power generation system tests in real ocean waves; the optimization design of linear generator for converting ocean wave energy into electrical energy; some optimization control methods to improve the operational efficiency of ocean wave power generation systems; and the current policy and financial support of ocean wave power generation in some countries. Due to the harsh ocean environment, safety is another factor that ocean wave power generation systems will face. Therefore, before the conclusion of this review, a damping coefficient optimization control method based on the domain partition is proposed to improve the efficiency and safety of ocean wave power generation systems.

In order to improve the classification accuracy and reliability of emotional state assessment and provide support and help for music therapy, this paper proposes an EEG analysis method based on wavelet transform under the stimulation of music perception. Using the data from the multichannel standard emotion database (DEAP), α, ß, and θ rhythms are extracted in frontal (F3 and F4), temporal (T7 and T8), and central (C3 and C4) channels with wavelet transform. EMD is performed on the extracted EEG rhythm to obtain intrinsic mode function (IMF) components, and then, the average energy and amplitude difference eigenvalues of IMF components of EEG rhythm waves are further extracted, that is, each rhythm wave contains three average energy characteristics and two amplitude difference eigenvalues so as to fully extract EEG feature information. Finally, emotional state evaluation is realized based on a support vector machine classifier. The results show that the correct rate between no emotion, positive emotion, and negative emotion can reach more than 90%. Among the pairwise classification problems among the four emotions selected, the classification accuracy obtained by this EEG feature extraction method is higher than that obtained by general feature extraction methods, which can reach about 70%. Changes in EEG α wave power were closely correlated with the polarity and intensity of emotion; α wave power varied significantly between “happiness and fear,” “pleasure and fear,” and “fear and sadness.” It has a good application prospect in both psychological and physiological research of emotional perception and practical application.

Abstract. Glacier calving is a key dynamical process of the Greenland Ice Sheet and a major driver of its increasing mass loss. Calving waves, generated by the sudden detachment of ice from the glacier terminus, can reach tens of meters in height and provide very valuable insights into quantifying calving activity. In this study, we present a new method for the detection of source location, timing, and magnitude of calving waves using a terrestrial radar interferometer. This method was applied to 11 500 1 min interval acquisitions from Eqip Sermia, West Greenland, in July 2018. Over 7 d, more than 2000 calving waves were detected, including waves generated by submarine calving, which are difficult to observe with other methods. Quantitative assessment with a wave power index (WPI) yields a higher wave activity (+49 %) and higher temporally cumulated WPI (+34 %) in deep water than under shallow conditions. Subglacial meltwater plumes, occurring 2.3 times more often in the deep sector, increase WPI and the number of waves by a factor of 1.8 and 1.3, respectively, in the deep and shallow sector. We therefore explain the higher calving activity in the deep sector by a combination of more frequent meltwater plumes and more efficient calving enhancement linked with better connections to warm deep ocean water.
