AbstractWe construct examples of p-adic L-functions over universal deformation spaces for $${{\,\mathrm{GL}\,}}_2$$ GL 2 . We formulate a conjecture predicting that the natural parameter spaces for p-adic L-functions and Euler systems are not the usual eigenvarieties (parametrising nearly-ordinary families of automorphic representations), but other, larger spaces depending on a choice of a parabolic subgroup, which we call ‘big parabolic eigenvarieties’.

AbstractWe show that in positive characteristic special loci of deformation spaces of rank one $$\ell $$ ℓ -adic local systems are quasi-linear. From this we deduce the Hard Lefschetz theorem for rank one $$\ell $$ ℓ -adic local systems and a generic vanishing theorem.

Abstract We formulate a Calabi–Yau-type conjecture in generalized Kähler geometry, focusing on the case of nondegenerate Poisson structure. After defining natural Hamiltonian deformation spaces for generalized Kähler structures generalizing the notion of Kähler class, we conjecture unique solvability of Gualtieri’s Calabi–Yau equation within this class. We establish the uniqueness, and moreover show that all such solutions are actually hyper-Kähler metrics. We furthermore establish a GIT framework for this problem, interpreting solutions of this equation as zeroes of a moment map associated to a Hamiltonian action and finding a Kempf–Ness functional. Lastly we indicate the naturality of generalized Kähler–Ricci flow in this setting, showing that it evolves within the given Hamiltonian deformation class, and that the Kempf–Ness functional is monotone, so that the only possible fixed points for the flow are hyper-Kähler metrics. On a hyper-Kähler background, we establish global existence and weak convergence of the flow.

We prove that the minimally displaced set of a relatively irreducible automorphism of a free splitting, situated in a deformation space, is uniformly locally finite. The minimally displaced set coincides with the train track points for an irreducible automorphism. We develop the theory in a general setting of deformation spaces of free products, having in mind the study of the action of reducible automorphisms of a free group on the simplicial bordification of Outer Space. For instance, a reducible automorphism will have invariant free factors, act on the corresponding stratum of the bordification, and in that deformation space it may be irreducible (sometimes this is referred as relative irreducibility).

Rapoport–Zink spaces are deformation spaces for $p$-divisible groups with additional structure. At infinite level, they become preperfectoid spaces. Let ${{\mathscr M}}_{\infty }$ be an infinite-level Rapoport–Zink space of EL type, and let ${{\mathscr M}}_{\infty }^{\circ }$ be one connected component of its geometric fiber. We show that ${{\mathscr M}}_{\infty }^{\circ }$ contains a dense open subset which is cohomologically smooth in the sense of Scholze. This is the locus of $p$-divisible groups which do not have any extra endomorphisms. As a corollary, we find that the cohomologically smooth locus in the infinite-level modular curve $X(p^{\infty })^{\circ }$ is exactly the locus of elliptic curves $E$ with supersingular reduction, such that the formal group of $E$ has no extra endomorphisms.

Given a manifold $M$ with a submanifold $N$, the deformation space ${\mathcal{D}}(M,N)$ is a manifold with a submersion to $\mathbb{R}$ whose zero fiber is the normal bundle $\unicode[STIX]{x1D708}(M,N)$, and all other fibers are equal to $M$. This article uses deformation spaces to study the local behavior of various geometric structures associated with singular foliations, with $N$ a submanifold transverse to the foliation. New examples include $L_{\infty }$-algebroids, Courant algebroids, and Lie bialgebroids. In each case, we obtain a normal form theorem around $N$, in terms of a model structure over $\unicode[STIX]{x1D708}(M,N)$.
