Local language variants of personal names are commonly acknowledged for a few categories of people (e.g., popes and royalty), but such variation is also frequent for other historical figures. Translators of all text types, including tourism texts, must grapple with such names. Indeed, tourism texts eagerly cite figures associated with a locale’s history to help bring its character alive. This article comments on Slovenian practice in this matter and presents principles that can be used as guidelines for translators dealing with such name variants. This is followed by an examination of several examples of such names appearing in English tourism texts or related material about Slovenia, commenting on whether the solutions chosen by the translators are appropriate. It concludes by reiterating the need to consider a variety of factors when handling names of historical persons in translation in general, emphasizing the need for a principled approach to the problem.

Retrieval practice (RP) leads to improved retention relative to re-exposure and is considered a robust phenomenon when the final test conditions are identical to RP conditions. However, the extent to which RP ‘transfers' to related material is less clear. Here, we tested for RP transfer effects under conditions known to induce integration of associated material at encoding, which may make transfer more likely. Participants learned multielement triplets (locations, animals and objects) and one pairwise association from each triplet was tested through RP, re-exposed, or not re-exposed (control). Two days later participants completed a final test of all pairwise associations. We found no evidence for an RP effect compared to re-exposure, but both tested/re-exposed pairs were better remembered than the not re-exposed control condition. We also found that transfer occurred from both tested to untested and re-exposed to not re-exposed pairs. Our results highlight that RP and re-exposure can boost retention for directly tested/re-exposed event pairs and associated but untested/not re-exposed event pairs, suggesting re-exposure of integrated information can be of pedagogical value. The results also question the boundary conditions for an increase in retention for RP relative to re-exposure, highlighting the need for a better theoretical understanding of RP effects.

It is very important to determine the behavior of elastomer materials under realistic well conditions in order to select appropriate swelling elastomers for a particular set of field conditions, for successful modeling and simulation of various downhole processes, and for design improvement of swell packers and other sealing applications. In collaboration with national and regional petroleum development and rubber engineering companies, a series of experimental studies were therefore conducted at Sultan Qaboos University for characterization of swelling related material behavior of different elastomers. Results from some of these investigations (studies A, B, and C) are reported and discussed in this chapter.

The most controversial trouble that happened in the construction projects is Delay. So, the specified research took part to investigate the basic causes in delaying the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The study gathered information from the insight of contractors, consultants, and owners. A wide literature review has been discussed. The delay causes are recognized built on the identified literature review. These features are characterized into owner-related, consultant-related, contractor-related, material-related, labour and equipment-related, and external-related groups. Twenty- six experienced persons participated in doing the questionnaire surveys to control the relative importance of every cause. The work discovered that the highest five reasons for postponement in building projects are financial difficulties by contractors, variation in prices, postponement in making and appreciative shop diagrams, lack of labour, and mistakes in soil study. Lastly, the probable approaches of dropping plan postponements are suggested. This work helps as a helpful tool for construction experts and academics to prevent reasons for postponement in constructing schemes in Kurdistan.

Pengelolaan Keuangan Sederhana sebagai bentuk kepedulian dan pengabdian kepada masyarakat kepada Siswa SMK Muhammadiyah Parung sangat tepat untuk dilaksanakan. Kebutuhan manusia dalam ilmu ekonomi bisa dikatakan tidak terbatas adanya. Semua keinginan ingin sekali terealisasi dengan mudah. Kondisi ini tentusaja tidak akan bisa terwujud tanpa adanya pengaturan keuangan yang baik. Dalam kegiatan ini metode yang diterapkan diharapkan dapat memberikan kemudahan kepada para mahasiswa SMK Muhammadiyah Parung. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode diskusi kelompok, sharing, tanyajawab, praktik yang di damping oleh pemateri. Pada metode penjelasan, setiap instruktur menyampaikan materi terkait dan membuat tampilan visual berupa slide power point yang ditampilkan ke layar dengan LCD proyektor. Hasil kegiatan adalah mereka dapat melakukannya sendiri di rumah. Siswa dapat mendapatkan ilmu pengetahuan baru, sehingga bisa dimaksimalkan potensi diri dengan cermat dan hemat.Kata Kunci: Keuangan Sederhana Simple Financial Management as a form of concern and community service to Muhammadiyah Vocational School Parung Students is very appropriate to be implemented.
