Lanthanide luminescence has been treated separate from molecular photophysics, although the underlying phenomena are the same. As the optical transitions observed in the trivalent lanthanide ions are forbidden, they do belong to the group that molecular photophysics have yet to conquer, yet the experimental descriptors remains valid. Determining these have proven challenging as full control/knowledge of sample composition is a prerequisite. This has been achieved, and here the luminescence quantum yields (ϕlum), luminescence lifetimes (τobs), oscillator strengths (f ), and the rates of non-radiative (knr) and radiative (kr ≡ A) deactivation of [Eu(H2O)9]3+ was determined for the trigonal tricapped prismatic (TTP) coordination geometry. Further, it was shown that instead of a full photophysical characterization, it is possible to relate changes in transition probabilities to the relative parameter Arel, which does not require reference data. While Arel does not afford comparisons between experiments, it resolves emission intensity changes due to emitter properties—changes in A—from intensity changes due to environmental effects—changes in knr, and differences in the number of photons absorbed. When working with fluorescence this may seem trivial, when working with lanthanide luminescence it is not.

This research is conducted to analyze the internal and external factors of the protagonist’s repentance from Second Act movie written by Justin Zackham And Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas. The internal factors of repentance are self evaluation, self-motivation, self-control, knowledge, regret, hatred towards the sin, and returns to god’s power and will. The external factors of repentance are peer support, social support, intense guidance, and stimulus. It is in accordance to the theory proposed by Fachitiandi. This study uses qualitative descriptive method because the process and the result are accomplished descriptively and the focus goes to the analysis of social phenomena conducted and experienced the main character. Repenteance is not only found in a literary text but also in social reality, therefore this research is important enough for the readers to maintain a good life by avoiding things contrary to social norms. After the analyzing, it is found that internal factors of the Protagonist’s repentance in the movie script are self-evaluation, self-motivation, and knowledge, while, the external factors of the protagonist’s repentance are peer of support and social of support.

Abstract The economic instability of recent decades has various social consequences. One of which is the emergence of abandoned agricultural areas. Analytical studies have shown that geolocation, aimed at creating a digital image of agricultural areas, reveals exclusion zones. The government has set the task of developing programs to involve the agricultural turnover of unused land. It is proposed to carry out a system-architectural design of the target zoning of territories. The selection of the basic model within the architecture of the Database of agricultural lands in circulation is supplemented by a block of a digital image for recognizing resource opportunities. The problem of developing a formalized set of typed commands that structure knowledge about the state of territories and their functionality for expert programming systems is solved. The database is formed from declarative (factual), procedural, and control knowledge. To form the database, the state of unused agricultural land in the country was shown. A forecast was given by the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia for the involvement of fallow lands in the turnover by the end of 2030. The concept of the efficiency of involving unused agricultural land into circulation was presented. A mathematical description of the risks and a graphical presentation of ways to achieve the efficiency of returning unused land by a set of indicators of risk restrictions were given. The key advantage of the developed concept is the creation of a modular-type production infrastructure, which is modernized and filled according to the current needs of economic activity, which is flexible to changes in internal factors and does not require external resources.

The proposed article analyzes the role of physics in the development of modern medicine. The principles of effective teaching of medical and biological physics are considered. The conditions which provide formation of positive motivation of educational activity in the course of training to medical physics are opened. Defining the main pedagogical functions of the textbook in the educational process. The analysis of some problems of the existing textbooks on medical physics for higher medical educational institutions is made and the possible ways of their decision are offered. The structural-logical analysis of the educational text of the content module «Bioacoustics. Biophysics of the senses. Fundamentals of audiometry», The statement of the content of the theory in the textbook «Medical and biological physics» Chaly O. V. is analyzed. The description of the basic structural elements of the textbook on medical physics developed by us is given. Modern approaches to the organization of the educational process using an electronic textbook on medical physics are considered. It is concluded that the reduction of the textbook due to the reduction of mathematical calculations and calculations should not lead to the exclusion from the educational process of work on this material. We consider it expedient to transfer calculations and conclusions of laws and formulas to the collection for practical classes. In our opinion, the combination of electronic textbooks with programs that control knowledge, supplemented by communication between teacher and student in real time have great potential for effective learning, including distance learning. Key words: medical physics, biomedical research, medical technologies, learning efficiency, electronic textbook.

AbstractThis article juxtaposes representations of Indonesia’s tobacco control as temporally backwards with a counter-discourse defending its clove-laced cigarettes—called kretek—as a form of distinctive cultural heritage. These opposing discourses, which I characterize as public health evolutionism and commodity nationalism, structure clashes over Indonesian tobacco regulations. Public health evolutionism can take the form of voyeuristic, exoticizing, and Othering representations, but it can also be used to argue for more equitable access to global tobacco control knowledge and practices. Commodity nationalists insist that the kretek industry should be a source of pride rather than shame, depicting tobacco control as a neocolonial plot to destroy an indigenous industry that benefits small farmers, factory workers, and home industries. This subaltern emphasis obscures the fact that a few large companies dominate the industry, which is increasingly foreign-owned and mechanizing to increase production while reducing employment. The cigarette industry takes advantage of both discourses by marketing supposedly safer products to consumers alarmed by public health messaging, while also promoting the cigarettes-as-national-heritage narrative and undermining regulations. The stakes of these debates are high in the world’s second largest cigarette market, with over three hundred billion sticks smoked each year and more than two hundred thousand tobacco-related deaths.

This research aimed to determine the factors affecting accounting students’ interest in obtaining the CA certification. The theory of planned behavior is used as a theoretical basis to explain the effect of attitudes toward behavior, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control on the interest in obtaining CA certification. The level of knowledge is also one of the information factors that can influence behavior intention. The number of samples used in this study was 168 respondents to determine the sample, namely the simple random sampling method. Data were collected using a questionnaire. The analysis technique used is multiple linear regression analysis. The analysis results indicate that attitudes toward behavior, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control positively affect accounting students’ interest to obtain CA certification. Meanwhile, the level of knowledge about CA does not affect accounting students’ interest to obtain CA certification. Keywords: Interest; Attitudes Toward Behavior; Subjective Norms; Perceived Behavioral Control; Knowledge.

PurposeThe study explores African partners' experiences regarding Chinese expatriates' knowledge control practices in 29 Sino-African joint ventures in 12 countries. It provides insights into power dynamics and knowledge transfer (KT) from African partners' perspective.Design/methodology/approachThe qualitative paper mobilized semi-structured interviews with Africans who worked with Chinese expatriates across Africa. The study focused on understanding the experiences of African partners when collaborating with their Chinese expatriate colleagues on assignments in joint ventures (JVs) in Africa.FindingsChinese expatriates employed five tactics, as described by African partners, to control knowledge based on power, behaviors and knowledge type. Particularly, through the lens of unofficial power, this study explains knowledge hiding tactics between knowledge-holding Chinese expatriates and host country knowledge-seeking locals. A new dimension of authority-based knowledge hiding is discovered.Originality/valueThe paper brings new insights into the analysis of power (official and unofficial) boundaries regarding knowledge control mechanisms in joint venture collaborations between employees from China and Africa. Unofficial power appeared as a major leverage for expatriates in monopolizing their strategic knowledge. The study recommends mobilizing African diaspora and repatriates from China to improve KT for Africa.

Building management systems (BMSs) are being implemented broadly by industries in recent decades. However, BMSs focus on specific domains, and when installed on the same building, they lack interoperability to work on a centralized user interface. On the other hand, BMSs interoperability allows the implementation of complex rules based on multi-domain contexts. The Building’s Reasoning for Intelligent Control Knowledge-based System (BRICKS) is a context-aware semantic rule-based system for the intelligent management of buildings’ energy and security. It uses ontologies and semantic web technologies to interact with different domains, taking advantage of cross-domain knowledge to apply context-based rules. This work upgrades the previously presented version of BRICKS by including services for energy consumption and generation forecast, demand response, a configuration user interface (UI), and a dynamic building monitoring and management UI. The case study demonstrates BRICKS deployed at different aggregation levels in the authors’ laboratory building, managing a demand response event and interacting autonomously with other BRICKS instances. The results validate the correct functioning of the proposed tool, which contributes to the flexibility, efficiency, and security of building energy systems.
