Abstract As is well known, the smallest neutrino mass turns out to be vanishing in the minimal seesaw model, since the effective neutrino mass matrix Mν is of rank two due to the fact that only two heavy right-handed neutrinos are introduced. In this paper, we point out that the one-loop matching condition for the effective dimension-five neutrino mass operator can make an important contribution to the smallest neutrino mass. By using the available one-loop matching condition and two-loop renormalization group equations in the supersymmetric version of the minimal seesaw model, we explicitly calculate the smallest neutrino mass in the case of normal neutrino mass ordering and find m1 ∈ [10−8, 10−10] eV at the Fermi scale ΛF = 91.2 GeV, where the range of m1 results from the uncertainties on the choice of the seesaw scale ΛSS and on the input values of relevant parameters at ΛSS.

AbstractWe formulate a supersymmetric version of gravity with mimetic dark matter. The coupling of a constrained chiral multiplet to $$N = 1$$ N = 1 supergravity is made locally supersymmetric using the rules of tensor calculus. The chiral multiplet is constrained with a Lagrange multiplier multiplet that could be either a chiral multiplet or a linear multiplet. We obtain the fully supersymmetric Lagrangians in both cases. It is then shown that the system consisting of the supergravity multiplet, the chiral multiplet and the Lagrange multiplier multiplet can break supersymmetry spontaneously leading to a model of a graviton, massive gravitino and two scalar fields representing mimetic dark matter. The combination of the chiral multiplet and Lagrange multiplier multiplet can act as the hidden sector breaking local $$N = 1$$ N = 1 supersymmetry.

Abstract Guided by the naturalness criterion for an exponentially small cosmological constant, we present a string theory motivated 4-dimensional $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 1 non-linear supergravity model (or its linear version with a nilpotent superfield) with spontaneous supersymmetry breaking. The model encompasses the minimal supersymmetric standard model, the racetrack Kähler uplift, and the KKLT anti-D3-branes, and use the nilpotent superfield to project out the undesirable interaction terms as well as the unwanted degrees of freedom to end up with the standard model (not the supersymmetric version) of strong and electroweak interactions.

In this paper we propose the notion of cluster superalgebras which is a supersymmetric version of the classical cluster algebras introduced by Fomin and Zelevinsky. We show that the symplectic-orthogonal supergroup $SpO(2|1)$ admits a cluster superalgebra structure and as a consequence of this, we deduce that the supercommutative superalgebra generated by all the entries of a superfrieze is a subalgebra of a cluster superalgebra. We also show that the coordinate superalgebra of the super Grassmannian $G(2|0; 4|1)$ of chiral conformal superspace (that is, $(2|0)$ planes inside the superspace $\mathbb C^{4|1}$) is a quotient of a cluster superalgebra.

Abstract We study some special features of F24, the holomorphic c = 12 superconformal field theory (SCFT) given by 24 chiral free fermions. We construct eight different Lie superalgebras of “physical” states of a chiral superstring compactified on F24, and we prove that they all have the structure of Borcherds-Kac-Moody superalgebras. This produces a family of new examples of such superalgebras. The models depend on the choice of an $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 1 supercurrent on F24, with the admissible choices labeled by the semisimple Lie algebras of dimension 24. We also discuss how F24, with any such choice of supercurrent, can be obtained via orbifolding from another distinguished c = 12 holomorphic SCFT, the $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 1 supersymmetric version of the chiral CFT based on the E8 lattice.

We introduce the supersymmetric version of YM-like theories with infinitely many spin fields in four dimensions. The construction is carried out via the superfield method. The surprising feature of these models is that they describe, in particular, gauge and gravity in a supersymmetric form, with no need for supergravity.

AbstractThe left-right symmetric models extend the gauge group of the Standard Model enabling treatment of the left- and right-handed fermions in the same footing. The left-right symmetry requires the existence of right-handed neutrinos, leading naturally to non-zero masses for neutrinos. Here some aspects of a supersymmetric version of the left-right symmetric models are reviewed. Such models have many virtues, including possibility for dark matter without any new additional symmetry needed in order to have a stable lightest supersymmetric particle. In the model the lightest sneutrino or the lightest neutralino can form dark matter of the universe, at the same time fulfilling all the experimental constraints. The dark matter particle in the model can be very different from the dark matter typical in the minimal supersymmetric standard model. Specific signals for this kind of models at the LHC are also discussed.

Grand unification groups (GUTs) are constructed from SO(32) heterotic string via [Formula: see text] orbifold compactification. So far, most phenomenological studies from string compactification relied on [Formula: see text] heterotic string, and this invites the SO(32) heterotic string very useful for future phenomenological studies. Here, spontaneous symmetry breaking is achieved by Higgsing of the antisymmetric tensor representations of SU[Formula: see text]. The anti-SU[Formula: see text] presented in this paper is a completely different class from the flipped-SU[Formula: see text]’s from the spinor representations of SO[Formula: see text]. Here, we realize chiral representations: [Formula: see text] for a SU(9) GUT and [Formula: see text] for a SU(5)[Formula: see text] GUT. In particular, we confirm that the non-Abelian anomalies of SU(9) gauge group vanish and hence our compactification scheme achieves the key requirement. We also present the Yukawa couplings, in particular for the heaviest fermion, [Formula: see text], and lightest fermions, neutrinos. In the supersymmetric version, we present a scenario how supersymmetry can be broken dynamically via the confining gauge group SU(9). Three families in the visible sector are interpreted as the chiral spectra of SU[Formula: see text] GUT.

Abstract We generalize the geometrical formulation of Wilson loops recently introduced in [1] to the description of Wilson Surfaces. For N = (2, 0) theory in six dimensions, we provide an explicit derivation of BPS Wilson Surfaces with non-trivial coupling to scalars, together with their manifestly supersymmetric version. We derive explicit conditions which allow to classify these operators in terms of the number of preserved supercharges. We also discuss kappa-symmetry and prove that BPS conditions in six dimensions arise from kappa-symmetry invariance in eleven dimensions. Finally, we discuss super-Wilson Surfaces — and higher dimensional operators — as objects charged under global p-form (super)symmetries generated by tensorial supercurrents. To this end, the construction of conserved supercurrents in supermanifolds and of the corresponding conserved charges is developed in details.
