The interest in plant extracts and natural compounds in cosmetic formulations is growing. Natural products may significantly improve cosmetics performance since they have both cosmetic and therapeutic-like properties, known as cosmeceutical effects. Glycyrrhiza genus, belonging to the Leguminosae family, comprises more than 30 species, widely distributed worldwide. The rhizomes and roots are the most important medicinal parts currently used in pharmaceutical industries and in the production of functional foods and food supplements. In the last few years, the interest in their potential activities in cosmetic formulations has greatly increased. Glycyrrhiza spp. extracts are widely implemented in cosmetic products for their good whitening effect. The biological effects of Glycyrrhiza extracts are especially ascribable to the occurrence of specialized metabolites belonging to the flavonoid class. This review focuses on the botany and the chemistry of the main investigated Glycyrrhiza spp. (G. glabra, G. uralensis, and G. inflata) along with their cosmeceutical activities categorized as skin anti-aging, photoprotective, hair care, and anti-acne. It has been highlighted how, along with Glycyrrhiza extracts, three main flavonoids namely licochalcone A, glabridin, and dehydroglyasperin C are the most investigated compounds. It is noteworthy that other molecules from licorice show potential cosmeceutical effects. These data suggest further investigations to clarify their potential value for cosmetic industries.

AbstractMedical professionals that treat patients with alopecia usually lack knowledge about hair cosmetics. Trichologists focus on hair cycling and growth problems and not on the hair shaft integrity. This may lead to abandon of the use of the prescribed treatment, such as topical minoxidil or to inadequate traumatic grooming habits that may jeopardize hair follicle health. Shampoos, hair dyes, and hair-straightening products may alter hair fiber structure, remove lipids, and elude protein. Hair procedures such as hair dying and straightening have side effects and health concerns, especially for pregnant women or sensitive hair and scalp patients. Hair breakage, follicle traction, frizz, contact dermatitis, and mutagenicity are possible side effects of hair cosmetics misuse. The proper use of hair care products may help to increase patients' adherence to alopecia treatments and avoid health problems related to inadequate application of hair cosmetics and procedures.

Moringa [Moringa oleifera (Lam.) Moringaceae] is a fast growing, deciduous, drought tolerant and tropical perennial tree. Moringa oleifera is called as a “Miracle Tree” due to not only its nutritional and pharmacological properties but also utilized as biofuel, water purifier and cosmetic industry. Every part of Moringa oleifera is a storehouse of essential nutrients. Edible parts of the plant includes the whole leaves, immature green fruits or seed pods, flowers and roots. Mature seeds yield 38-40 per cent edible oil called ben oil. Cosmetics such as anti-ageing creams, hair care products, face creams, aromatherapy oils and massage oils use moringa oil. Fresh Moringa leaves was collected from Department of vegetable science, Kerala Agricultural University, Thrissur. The KAU Moringa variety Anupama was selected for the study during the period of 2018-2020. The extraction method used the maceration method with 96% ethanol and applied hair tonic extract of bandotan leaves on the skin of local male rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) which were treated as blanks without smearing, positive control (Natur), negative control hair tonic base, concentration bandotan leaf extract. (5%, 10%, 15% and 20%) for 21 days. The data obtained in the form of hair length, and hair weight. Analysis of the data obtained for hair growth activity was seen from the results of the ANOVA test and continued with the BNT test (Least Significance Different). The results of the research for evaluating hair tonic preparations included organoleptic tests, pH tests, viscosity tests, specific gravity tests, and cycling tests. Hair tonic ethanol extract of bandotan leaves has hair growth activity. Hair tonic ethanol extract of bandotan leaves with a concentration of 20% had the highest hair length and hair weight. From the results of one way ANOVA, a significant value was obtained 0.000 < 0.005, so it was concluded that there was a significant difference between treatments, and continued with the BNT test (Least Significance Different) positive control was not significantly different from hair tonic concentration of 20%.Keywords: Bandotan leaves, Hair tonic, Hair growth AbstrakKerontokan rambut adalah suatu gangguan atau kelainan rambut terlepas dari kulit kepala atau kulit tubuh sehingga mengganggu berbagai fungsi biologis rambut terhadap tubuh. In modern society, the importance of scalp hair care is increasing. Therefore, we would like to suggest a direction for improving the expertise of trichologists as a way to meet the demand for customized scalp and hair care services. In this study, a total of 298 questionnaires were used as frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, regression analysis, and correlation analysis data through SPSS 26.0. analyzed. The survey results regarding the use of scalp and hair care services are as follows. First, trichologist expertise was classified as a single factor, and service use intention was classified as perceived usefulness and subjective normative factors. Second, the higher the expertise of the trichologist, the greater the effect of the intention to use the scalp and hair care service on the perceived usefulness factor and the subjective normative factor. In conclusion, we hope that more research will be done to strengthen the expertise of the trichologist, a senior workforce in the rapidly evolving beauty and health care industry.
