Body-image disturbance comprises two components. The first is perceptual in nature, and is measured by a discrepancy between one’s actual body and perceived self-image (“perceived–actual discrepancy”). The other component is affective, and is measured by a discrepancy between one’s perceived self-image and ideal body image (“perceived–ideal discrepancy”). The present study evaluated the relationships between body-image disturbance and characteristics of eating disorders such as symptoms and related personality traits. In a psychophysiological experiment, female university students (mean ± SD age = 21.0 ± 1.38 years) were presented with silhouette images of their own bodies that were distorted in terms of width. The participants were asked whether each silhouette image was more overweight than their actual or ideal body images. Eating-disorder characteristics were assessed using six factors from the Japanese version of the Eating Disorder Inventory 2 (EDI2). We found that perceived–actual discrepancies correlated with negative self-evaluation (i.e., factor 3 of the EDI2), whereas perceived–ideal discrepancies correlated with dissatisfaction with one’s own body (i.e., factor 2 of EDI2). These results imply that distinct psychological mechanisms underlie the two components of body-image disturbance.

Every parent's motivation for their child must be different and varied, but all of them are positive things for a child's development. In this pandemic era too, there are many sports activities carried out by various regions and various groups in Indonesia. One of them is the participation of their children from the age of 6 to 15 years, with boys and girls, and their ideal body weight in cycling activities. In this study, the authors examined a cycling activity as well as many parents who accompanied their children from the beginning to the end of the activity. The purpose of the study was to analyze the level of motivation of parents to involve their children in cycling sports activities. Descriptive quantitative research methods and data analysis using analysis with Likert scale calculation techniques. The results of this study indicate that 66.7%% of parents do cycling activities only to fill useful free time, 29.2% indicate for motor development, and 12.5% to increase body immunity. It can be concluded that the level of motivation of parents to involve their children in cycling  activities to fill their spare time is included in the important category (66.7%).

Body dissatisfaction and disordered eating behavior in athletes may occur when sports and social pressures require an ideal body standard, if the athlete perceives that his or her body does not conform to this ideal. For this reason, the aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between artistic gymnasts’ (AG) physical profiles, body appreciation levels and eating attitudes. A total of 32 elite AG (Turkish National Team), 13 women and 19 men, participated in this study. Height and body analyzes of the participants were measured. Body appreciation levels were determined by the Body Appreciation Scale (BAS), and eating attitudes were determined by the Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-26). With the Training Information Form, information about training frequencies and durations was provided. Comparative analyzes of the BAS and EAT-26 results of elite female and male gymnasts were performed. The physical profiles, eating attitudes and body appreciation levels of female AG were evaluated and the relationship between them was determined. While no significant correlation was found between the BAS, EAT-26 and physical profiles of the elite male AG, a negative significant correlation was found between the BAS and body mass index (BMI) of female elite AG (p < 0.05). It was concluded that while BMI rates of elite female AG increased, their body appreciation levels decreased. The BAS results of elite AG’ were found to be significantly higher than those of elite female AGs (p < 0.05).

Developing the shape of human bodies is both one of the important tasks of the sports industry in each country in the world and the need of each individual, especially women. So, what body image is considered standard? We have researched and initially built a rating scale for each of the basic body standards indicators of women including 7/9 body standards indicators. At the same time, it also developed a standard to evaluate the body image of women's body shape through the ratio between waist measurement and indicators such as standing height, bust measurement, and hips measurement. During this study, we used common methods such as reference methods related to research objectives; expert interviews; anthropometric; Statistical mathematics. The study has developed a scale to evaluate the indicators of body beautiful image for each criterion of ideal body standards. This is the basis for them to be able to calculate the measurements of each fitness criterion to exercise in proportion to their height so that they have an ideal body standard, as well as a source of reference for other athletes, trainers, body image trainers, physical education teachers, or researchers on women's health in Vietnam. From there, it helps the practitioner know the correct rings needed have to work out based on his height. This is the basis for them to be able to calculate the measurements of each fitness criterion to exercise in proportion to their height so that they have an ideal body standard.

Background. Colistin is a lifesaving treatment for multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacterial (MDR-GNB) infections along with its well-known nephrotoxicity. The controversy of colistin-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) on mortality is noted. This study aimed to determine the risk factors and impact of AKI on the survival and significance of colistin dosage. Methods. A retrospective cohort study was performed in adult patients who received intravenous colistin for MDR-GNB treatment between June 2015 and June 2017. Factors influencing colistin-induced AKI and survival were evaluated by Cox regression analysis. Cut-off levels of the colistin dose per ideal body weight (IBW) that significantly affected clinical outcomes were assessed with linearity trends and receiver operating characteristic analyses. Results. AKI occurred in 68.5% of 412 enrolled patients with an incidence rate of 10.6 per 100 patients-days and a median time was 6 (3–13) days. Stages I–III of AKI were 38.3, 24.5, and 37.2%. Factors associated with colistin-induced AKI were advanced age, high serum bilirubin, AKI presented before colistin administration, increased daily colistin doses per IBW, and concomitant use of nephrotoxic drugs. Colistin-induced AKI was related to mortality (HR 1.74, 95% CI 1.06–2.86, p = 0.028 ). In the non-AKI before colistin usage subgroup, the total dose and total dose/IBW were >1,500–2,000 mg and 30–35 mg/kg to benefit mortality reduction but were <2,500–3,000 mg and 45–50 mg/kg for risk reduction of AKI. A daily colistin dose/IBW >4.5 mg/kg/day also increased the risk of AKI. In the AKI developed before colistin subgroup, the cut-off values of total colistin dose >1250–1350 mg and total dose/IBW >23.5–24 mg/kg demonstrated significant risks of AKI. Conclusion. The incidence of AKI after colistin administration was high and impacted mortality. Prevention and early correction of these related factors are mandatory. Careful use of colistin was also both beneficial in mortality and AKI reductions.

Background The association between salt intake and clinical outcomes in hemodialysis patients has been controversial. This study aimed to clarify the association between salt intake and mortality in hemodialysis patients. Method The present study included patients who underwent hemodialysis from June 1st 2016 to May 31st 2020. Corrected salt intake by ideal body weight was the main predictor of outcomes. Ideal body weight was calculated assuming that the ideal body mass index is 22 kg/m2 for the Japanese population. The multivariate Cox proportional hazards model was used to determine the association between corrected salt intake and mortality, adjusting for potential confounders. The outcomes considered were all-cause mortality and cumulative incidence of cardiovascular events at year 4. Result A total of 492 adult patients were enrolled in the study. The mean daily salt intake and corrected salt intake at baseline were 9.5 g/day and 0.17 g/kg/day, respectively. The low corrected salt intake group (< 0.13 g/kg/day) demonstrated the highest 4-year all-cause mortality. No association was observed between corrected salt intake and the cumulative incidence of cardiovascular events. In multivariate Cox proportional hazards analysis, only the group with corrected salt intake of 0.16–0.20 g/kg/day was associated with a decreased hazard risk for all-cause death compared with the low corrected salt intake group. Conclusion The present study found that a low salt intake was associated with high all-cause mortality in hemodialysis patients. Reduced long-term survival may be attributed to malnutrition resulting from excessive salt restriction.

Abstract This research studied the preferences reported by women and men about their Ideal Body Image for the Opposite Sex (IBIOS), and its association with body mass index (BMI). It also analysed the preferences of each sex for a woman’s ideal body image (W-IBI) and a man’s ideal body image (M-IBI). A total of 450 participants aged 18–70 years with different weights were studied. Their IBIOS was assessed using standard figural stimuli. The sample was divided in four groups by sex and age (<45 years; ≥45 years). Sex and age differences in IBIOS, as well as sex differences in the preferences for a woman’s ideal body image (W-IBI) and a man’s ideal body image (M-IBI), were tested using a non-parametric Mann-Whitney U test. The association between IBIOS and BMI was analysed using Spearman’s correlation. In all groups, the most chosen silhouette as IBIOS was number 4. In the under-45 years group, women chose bigger silhouettes for the opposite sex than men did (p<0.05). In this age group women chose as ideal smaller silhouettes for the female body than men did (p<0.01). In addition, women and men in the younger age group and with normal weight chose smaller silhouettes, while those who were overweight or obese selected larger silhouettes (p<0.001). Age was found to be a relevant factor in IBIOS preferences, and in the association between IBIOS and nutritional status as measured by BMI, which was only observed to be significant in the younger age group.
