The construction of AP1000 Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) has commenced in China. The AP1000 NPP features a passive design concept and modular construction technology. Based on the management of the construction of current AP1000 NNP, this paper describes the effects on Nuclear Island (NI) construction project management resulting from modular construction technology, as well as new construction techniques and methods. This paper puts forward new requirements for construction schedule management of the nuclear island construction at different levels. The AP1000 NI construction logic features the parallel construction of civil and structural erection as the main approach, with the integrated schedule of module fabrication, assembly and installation as support.

It is very rare to adopt ultra large diameter glass reinforced plastic pipe in the Chinese nuclear power field. The construction techniques like safety and quality control, design tracking, construction organization, schedule control and other perspectives are still lacking of experiences. So the accumulation of construction experiences for this kind of structure became a key work in the nuclear power plant construction phase.

The shell is one important part of steam turbo-set condenser. Fangjiashan nuclear power project in Zhejiang Province is the domestic millions-kilowatt class PWR nuclear power plant. Its condenser shell modules have large size and heavy weight. At the same time by turbine house structure restriction, the traditional construction scheme is unable to satisfy the installation requirements. According to the condenser shell module structure characteristics and construction environment, the new construction technology such as four cranes integration operation, many times of changing hook, temporary hanging on the beam of steam turbine house, is studied and adopted. The supporting lifting frame is researched and developed. Four pieces of condenser shell modules with different hanging point size are successfully constructed. This can provide reference for the construction of similar equipment.

As the complexity in construction projects increased, simply managing the obtained float values and critical path(s) by the CPM method usually results in more difficult schedule control and, consequently, in incorrect decision making due to non-realistic float values. This study thoroughly reviewed various float types in the literature and professional project management systems, and discussed five managerial essentials and three proactive strategies on mitigating challenging float-related problems based on the perspective of managing schedules by controlling floats. With some comments and suggestions, the outcomes of this study not only improve the knowledge level on schedule management but also provide a better understanding of float management to improve the quality of schedule management.

Filling mortar construction techniques of stone masonry is a innovation and improvement on construction technology. It uses the pressure of water slurry washed sand, relying on the impact and gravity filling the small gap of the mortar and stones. which a has good surface to form the stone body. Test by adjusting the amount of mixing on cement mortar and water, the ratio of water-cement and sand-lime on mortar study compared the performance impact on the mortar, initially identified the ratio on technical requirements of construction which mixing the mortar. On the basis of this test proposed the method using mortar, designed to verifies on using the mortar to fill the small gap, and to determine the optimal mixing on mortar for this new construction technology foundation.

Schedule control is the major issue in project management, and to predict the construction schedule effectively is important practically. The article mainly predicts the schedule of a project based on BP neural network. The result shows that the predicted value is more accurate than the value calculated by linear method.

With the increase of the population recently, changes have occurred in the design and construction techniques of the buildings due to the insufficient building stock. With the development of science and technology, new construction techniques have emerged in the construction and design of structures. In the global population increase, high-rise buildings were built to meet the need for shelter and these structures were built with the development of technology. However, high-rise buildings have become the symbol of technological development for countries and cities. Since the 21st century, the construction of high-rise buildings in cities with different designs and new construction techniques has provided the development of architecture and engineering. It is important to design high-rise buildings in accordance with the culture and texture of the city. In addition, high-rise buildings should be built as structures resistant to natural disasters such as earthquakes, fires and floods. For this reason, the design and construction techniques of high-rise buildings have become a research subject in the field of architecture and engineering. The aim of this study is to examine the designs and construction techniques of high-rise buildings. In the first part of the study, the concept of high rise building and its historical development are discussed. In the second part of the study, the designs and construction techniques of high-rise buildings are investigated. In addition, the study was conducted to examine the high structure by giving examples from the world and Turkey. Within the scope of the study, literature researches such as domestic and international articles, books, published theses, web resources were conducted and data were collected. As a result of the examinations made within the scope of the study, it is important to select the building materials in accordance with the characteristics of the building materials in the design and construction techniques of high-rise buildings with the development of technology. Therefore, the architect should know the properties of the materials in the design of high-rise buildings and use them in accordance with the properties of the material in the construction of the buildings. In addition, increasing the height of the building by making aerodynamic designs in high buildings reduces the effect of the wind speed.
