Abstract Easy-to-use tire models for vehicle dynamics have been persistently studied for such applications as control design and model-based on-line estimation. This paper proposes a modified combined-slip tire model based on Dugoff tire. The proposed model takes emphasis on less time consumption for calculation and uses a minimum set of parameters to express tire forces. Modification of Dugoff tire model is made on two aspects: one is taking different tire/road friction coefficients for different magnitudes of slip and the other is employing the concept of friction ellipse. The proposed model is evaluated by comparison with the LuGre tire model. Although there are some discrepancies between the two models, the proposed combined-slip model is generally acceptable due to its simplicity and easiness to use. Extracting parameters from the coefficients of a Magic Formula tire model based on measured tire data, the proposed model is further evaluated by conducting a double lane change maneuver, and simulation results show that the trajectory using the proposed tire model is closer to that using the Magic Formula tire model than Dugoff tire model.

Abstract In this paper, a new empirical path loss model based on frequency, distance, and volumetric occupancy rate is generated at the 3.5 and 4.2 GHz in the scope of 5G frequency bands. This study aims to determine the effect of the volumetric occupancy rate on path loss depending on the foliage density of the trees in the pine forest area. Using 4.2 GHz and the effect of the volumetric occupancy rate contributes to the literature in terms of novelty. Both the reference measurements to generate a model and verification measurements to verify the proposed models are conducted in three different regions of the forest area with double ridged horn antennas. These regions of the artificial forest area consist of regularly sorted and identical pine trees. Root mean square error (RMSE) and R-squared values are calculated to evaluate the performance of the proposed model. For 3.5 and 4.2 GHz, while the RMSEs are 3.983 and 3.883, the values of R-squared are 0.967 and 0.963, respectively. Additionally, the results are compared with four path loss models which are commonly used in the forest area. The proposed one has the best performance among the other models with values 3.98 and 3.88 dB for 3.5 and 4.2 GHz.

AbstractLane departure collisions have contributed to the traffic accidents that cause millions of injuries and tens of thousands of casualties per year worldwide. Due to vision-based lane departure warning limitation from environmental conditions that affecting system performance, a model-based vehicle dynamics framework is proposed for estimating the lane departure event by using vehicle dynamics responses. The model-based vehicle dynamics framework mainly consists of a mathematical representation of 9-degree of freedom system, which permitted to pitch, roll, and yaw as well as to move in lateral and longitudinal directions with each tire allowed to rotate on its axle axis. The proposed model-based vehicle dynamics framework is created with a ride model, Calspan tire model, handling model, slip angle, and longitudinal slip subsystems. The vehicle speed and steering wheel angle datasets are used as the input in vehicle dynamics simulation for predicting lane departure event. Among the simulated vehicle dynamic responses, the yaw acceleration response is observed to provide earlier insight in predicting the future lane departure event compared to other vehicle dynamics responses. The proposed model-based vehicle dynamics framework had shown the effectiveness in estimating lane departure using steering wheel angle and vehicle speed inputs.

The variable precision probabilistic rough set model is based on equivalent relation and probabilistic measure. However, the requirements of equivalent relation and probabilistic measure are too strict to satisfy in some practical applications. In order to solve the above problem, a variable precision rough set model based on covering relation and uncertainty measure is proposed. Moreover, the upper and lower approximation operators of the proposed model are given, while the properties of the operators are discussed.

The observation of Hieronymus Bosch’s “Garden of Delights” triptych is the starting point for a short essay on the possible interpretation of this work by its last purchaser, Filipe II of Spain. Additionally, this essay leads to the proposal of a model, based on three categories of analysis, for the critical interpretation of the global course that humanity has been taking since the beginning of the great intercontinental navigations, initially carried out by the Portuguese and the Spanish. The proposed model intends to contribute to the defragmentation of the memory of a long process marked by the tension between hegemonic forces and dynamics of interculturality.

Internet of Things search has great potential applications with the rapid development of Internet of Things technology. Combining Internet of Things technology and academic search to build academic search framework based on Internet of Things is an effective solution to realize massive academic resource search. Recently, the academic big data has been characterized by a large number of types and spanning many fields. The traditional web search technology is no longer suitable for the search environment of academic big data. Thus, this paper designs academic search framework based on Internet of Things Technology. In order to alleviate the pressure of the cloud server processing massive academic big data, the edge server is introduced to clean and remove the redundancy of the data to form a clean data for further analysis and processing by the cloud server. Edge computing network effectively makes up for the deficiency of cloud computing in the conditions of distributed and high concurrent access, reduces long-distance data transmission, and improves the quality of network user experience. For Academic Search, this paper proposes a novel weakly supervised academic search model based on knowledge-enhanced feature representation. The proposed model can relieve high cost of acquisition of manually labeled data by obtaining a lot of pseudolabeled data and consider word-level interactive matching and sentence-level semantic matching for more accurate matching in the process of academic search. The experimental result on academic datasets demonstrate that the performance of the proposed model is much better than that of the existing methods.

An increasing of donor centres has been detected in n-InSb when it was submitted to anneal/quench with various annealing temperature (450 °C - 850 °C) and various annealing time (5 - 100 hours). A theoretical study of the kinetics of the conduction conversion of n-InSb at temperature annealing above 250 °C has been made. The present analysis indicates that the donor concentration increases with increasing of annealing time. In order to study this variation and to give a model for donor centres generated, a proposed model based on the simple kinetic is used to fit the variation of donor concentration as a function of annealing time. However, from the best fit of experimental data using the proposed model, the activation energy is determined.

Optimization of business process assists in efficient organization of business process. For the success of optimization of business process, a simulation model based on gap processes for the analysis of buyers' burstiness in business process has been proposed. However, the model has to be validated. The aim of the research is to implement a validation approach to the simulation model based on gap processes for the optimization of business process underpinning elaboration of a new research question on the model validity. The meaning of the key concepts of “validation,” “model validation,” and “model validation approach” is studied. The results of the present research show that the application of real system measurements validates the simulation model for the optimization of business process. The novel contribution of the manuscript is revealed in the newly created research question on the proposed model validity. Directions of future research are proposed.
