This article presents the results of noise tests, measurements and proposals of solutions that have an impact for reducing noise at one of the Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa S.A. mines. All units and workstations at the mechanical coal processing plant were tested. Coal enrichment, aimed at adjusting its quality parameters to the requirements of various customers, is considered as a stage of mineral resources management. The adaptation of the quality of commercial coal products to the needs of specific customers consists in removing useless components from the excavated material. The processes of coal processing are carried out on various machines, the power of which reaches several dozen kilowatts. The energy of these machines, in addition to the useful power, is converted into heat, friction and noise. From the energy point of view, noise is not important, but it is very harmful to employees. The issue of noise pollution, although very dangerous to employees’ health, is often underestimated. Due to the subjective perception of noise, it is not possible to determine the risk without proper research. The aim of this study was to determine where the noise standards are exceeded. The next step was to propose specific solutions to reduce the impacts of noise on health and work comfort.

Security of supply of water, which meets the quality parameters specified in applicable standards, is now the basis for the functioning of most societies. In addition to climatic, biological, chemical, and physical hazards, it is worth paying attention to consumers’ subjective perception of the quality of tap water supplied in the area of Poland. The article discusses various activities related to water resources management and analyses the results of an evaluation of selected quality parameters of tap water in Poland. A novelty on a European scale here is an examination of the evaluation of these parameters based on potential seasonal differences (spring, summer, autumn, winter). For the first time in the world literature, PROFIT analysis was used to evaluate selected parameters of tap water quality. The aim of the article was to present a model for the evaluation of the parameters of tap water supplied in different seasons of the year in Poland. Due to the complexity of the research aspects, a mixed-methods research procedure was used in which a literature review was combined with a survey and statistical analysis. For the purpose of the survey, an original survey questionnaire called “Survey of customer opinions on selected parameters of tap water supplied in Poland” was developed especially for this study. The conducted research confirmed the adopted hypothesis that the results of evaluation of selected tap water parameters vary depending on the period (spring, summer, autumn, winter) in Poland. The model developed by means of PROFIT analysis makes it possible to highlight to water suppliers the specific quality parameters in particular seasons of the year (spring, summer, autumn, winter), which may improve the quality of water supplied in Poland and thus, in the long-term perspective, increase the level of satisfaction of water recipients and confidence in drinking tap water in Poland.

A field experiment was conducted at Bangladesh Jute Research Institute (BJRI) to observe the response of N, P, K and S on a pre?released white jute (Corchorus capsularis) var. BJC?2197. The experiment was carried out by applying N, P, K, S fertilizers in ten combinations including control. From the experiment it was observed that all the treatments had significant positive effect over control on growth, yield and quality parameters. The highest fiber yield (3.21 t/ha) and stick yield (6.58 t/ha) were recorded with N90P5K30S10 kg/ha treatment. However, the best quality fiber was found with combination of N90P15K30S10 kg/ha treatment. From the economic analysis point of view, it was found that combination of N90P5K30S10 kg/ha was higher (2.30) than N90P15K30S10 kg/ha (2.04). So the former can be considered as the best combination for var. BJC?2197 in terms of BCR, yield and quality. Dhaka Univ. J. Biol. ABSTRACT The use of pre-sprouted seedlings in the implantation of sugarcane crops not only reduces the establishment period and production costs, but also has other advantages, such as a lesser requirement of propagules (stems) and greater phytosanitary control of the seedlings, when compared to conventional planting. Commercial substrates are also expensive and their use increases the cost of seedlings. This study aimed to evaluate the quality of sugarcane pre-sprouted seedlings grown on substrates with different proportions of decomposed babassu palm stem (DBPS), as well as to recommend the substrate formulation that provides the most favorable environment for the growth and development of sugarcane pre-sprouted seedlings. For preparation of the substrate (S), DBPS and soil were used in the following proportions: S1: 0 % of DBPS + 100 % of soil; S2: 20 % of DBPS + 80 % of soil; S3: 40 % of DBPS + 60 % of soil; S4: 60 % of DBPS + 40 % of soil; S5: 80 % of DBPS + 20 % of soil; S6: 100 % of DBPS + 0 % of soil. The use of S2 and S3 considerably improved the seedling quality parameters, such as sprout diameter and length, number of leaves and total, shoot and root dry mass. However, from an economic point of view, S2 is recommended for use.

The article highlights and analyzes the features of restaurant services as components of the commodity management of enterprises in the restaurant industry. In particular, the features of services in a global sense (immateriality, impossibility of storage, inseparability from the source and inconsistency of quality), as well as the special characteristics of the specific services of the restaurant business (indivisibility, intangibility, fragility, heterogeneity, the local nature of the restaurant industry, the presence of material objects in the restaurant services, a differentiated level of quality and cost, heterogeneity in terms of meeting the needs of customers of a restaurant enterprise, customiza- tion, subjective perception by a client depending on individual characteristics, preferences and consumer attitudes, as well as influencing factors, publicity of the provision of services of restaurant enterprises). In the course of the re- search, the definitions of the terms "restaurant industry", "restaurant service" are described and analyzed from the point of view of leading specialists in the field of management of restaurant enterprises, as well as the legislation of Ukraine. To highlight the features of the commodity management of restaurant services, studies of service classifications were carried out and groups of services from various classifications were distinguished. Knowledge and competent consideration of the characteristics of services, as carriers of the characteristics of the group to which they relate, increases the efficiency of commodity management of enterprises providing services, and restaurant enterprises, in partic- ular. The functions of restaurant enterprises are also highlighted: production and service. The components and features of accounting for the level of quality of restaurant services, a full list of services of restaurant enterprises related to the provision of food products to customers of the restaurant business have been determined. The results of such a study make it possible to efficiently spend re- sources, maximize the volume of provision of restaurant services and competently promote them among representatives of target markets of restaurant enterprises.

The essay presents the author's subjective perception of a number of state institutions’ activities regarding their implementation of the directives of the Decree of the President of Ukraine «On the Development of Sociological Science» dated 25.04.2001 for twenty years from the date of its publication. The author's subjective point of view, in particular, is a consequence of the fact that he was a member of the working group on the development of this decree, and the beginning of the 21st century was a time when the Ukrainian society, state, political, public figures, scientists were expecting the decisive development of various spheres of life. However, in fact, these expectations met with latent resistance from shadow structures, the essence of which was to avoid publicly disclosing their intentions through science and education. So, because of the Ministry of Education and Science order No. 642 of July 9, 2009 «On the organization of the study of humanitarian disciplines at the free choice of the student», the active part of youth, namely students was given a very narrowed way of social development understanding; primarily it have happened in technical universities, where the members of executive branch of the power will have been taught en masse. It is when the financial interests are embodied through the implementation of large-scale technical and economic projects, for example, the construction of highways, and not the protection of public health. However, in the leading universities, where sociologists have been taught, the initiative of teachers to show their will to improve the quality of the students’ preparing and evaluation does not subside.

Assessment of the tourist attractiveness of a territory is an important analytical area in terms of identifying opportunities for development of regional tourism, as one of the most significant and promising sectors of the economy. This can be the basis for development of appropriate strategic regional programs. The existing scientific discussion in this area has contributed to emergence of a number of methodological approaches that can be used in practice. However, their critical analysis revealed a number of provisions, the improvement of which will make it possible to obtain more objective and relevant results, reflecting the possibility of the destination becoming an object of attraction for tourists. Firstly, the lack of a clear distinction between the categories of “tourist potential”, which reflects the objective state of the resources of the territory, and “tourist attractiveness”, which includes the estimated component of available resources from the perspective of a consumer of tourist services. This leads to the fact that the principle of the subjectivity of the assessment is practically not implemented, thus the possibility of focusing on market demands is not fully used, which implies use of segmentation and positioning tools. Secondly, the results obtained using the methods offered by the scientific community are often distorted by the subjective perception of the researcher, which is associated with use of a large volume of expert assessments. Thirdly, from our point of view, the number of estimated variables, the number of which may approach 100, is not always justified. This, on the one hand, reduces the degree of influence of each of them on the result, and, therefore, the significance, and on the other hand, makes it difficult for the analyst to collect the necessary information. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop a methodology that eliminates these disadvantages. The offered author’s development includes objective indicators that do not require involvement of experts in their assessment. The number of these indicators is limited and systematized by groups, in accordance with modern market demands: directly attracting tourists, ensuring the quality of stay and ensuring the availability of the territory. The relative form of the offered metrics shows the degree of difference in the selected variables of some territories in comparison with others, which in the future will make it possible to orient the tourism development in the region to target audiences whose needs can be satisfied by the resources available at the destination.

The typical Brazilian sugarcane spirit, called “cachaça”, is a drink known and marketed throughout the world. Its worldwide popularity was due to the drink called caipirinha, where cachaça is used as one of its main ingredients. Thus, there is a growing concern with its quality. Among the limiting factors for the quality of cachaça from the point of view of food security and suitability for trade and export, the presence of toxic compounds is one of the most important.  Some toxic compounds may be present in the cachaça through contamination or formation during the production stages. Aiming to investigate the presence of some of these compounds in cachaças from Bahia, twenty-seven samples of aged cachaças were collected and analyzed regarding their identity and quality standards. For this purpose, analyzes of quality parameters in relation to alcohol content, acidity, copper, furfural, methanol, ethyl carbamate, higher alcohols, butan-1-ol, and butan-2-ol. Regarding the quality standards, while 74.1% of the samples were not in conformity with the limit established by the law concerning the contents of toxic compounds such as copper, furfural, or ethyl carbamate. Knowledge on the quality of Brazilian cachaça is of great importance for its recognition, since it is marketed throughout the country with growing insertion into the international market.

Quality is about meeting the stakeholder’s expectations: the subjective perception is often more important than hard facts. Therefore, a common understanding between all involved parties – especially business owners as well as service providers – concerning the quality of a service is mandatory. Application Management is defined as the concept and all required techniques to monitor, measure and record data for operating services. It has a significant impact on the quality of an IT service. Based on the so-called value chain – a phased approach starting with a business point of view followed by IT development and operation – necessary activities as well as quality indicators are identified and described for each step in the software development livecycle. The aspects of Application Management are illustrated by using a real world example of implementing an output management system within a bank.
