This chapter presents six contemporary authors of Romanian origin and German expression. Classified as so-called “immigrant literature” - a distinct category outlined in German literary studies in the last four decades - the six authors were selected according to the following criteria: Romanian mother tongue, the experience of immigration in the German-speaking area, and the abandonment of the mother tongue in favor of German. In addition to bio-bibliographic data, the paper provides a representative text analysis for each author

Theoretical movements, interpretative paradigms and intellectual fashions have been widely introduced to Poland (feminism, postcolonial studies etc.), rarely (g)localized, but without a good understanding of the real consequences of embracing those cultural models. In literary studies, the main obstacle preventing the fulfi llment of the paradigm shift is the exclusion of poetics from those new trends, while its development should follow the adoption of a given theory. The article shows a complex character of the absence of poetics (in plural, refl ecting a variety of theories), on the one hand, and the persistence and appeal of the structural poetic (singular; even in the situation when the structuralistic theory is not used). The present situation can be seen as an infl ation of pure theorizations and a defl ation of the development of possible tools in text analysis.

English Text analysis becomes one of many approaches to analyze the dynamics of mother tongue issues whose condition is relatively appalling. Mother tongue (language) is the earliest language acquired by a member of society starting from the cradle of family. Because of its proximity, mother language is close to local language. However, its popularity is less than Bahasa Indonesia and foreign languages. It is reflected on the related texts in media for International Mother Language Day (IMLD). This is descriptive qualitative type of research using criteria-based sampling along with content analysis technique to the related texts of IMLD in the daily printed national newspaper, Kompas. The researcher used Systemic Functional Linguistics to obtain interpersonal: transactional meanings through mood structure analysis from narration, reports, and quotations. Based on the analysis, the study investigated the attitudes presented by participants in the texts to their readers from analysis results of modalization and modulation. This research concluded that the texts were more dominated by language meanings with transaction on information rather than action. This affected on the modes of delivering messages informatively and the orientation of enriching the insights. Indonesia Analisis teks menjadi salah satu pendekatan untuk menemukan dinamika bahasa ibu yang kini dalam kondisi memprihatinkan. Bahasa ibu merupakan bahasa yang paling dekat dan awal diterima masyarakat mulai dari lingkup keluarga. Karena kedekatan itu, bahasa ibu erat kaitannya dengan bahasa daerah. Namun, kepopulerannya kalah dengan bahasa Indonesia dan bahasa asing. Kondisi ini tampak pada teks-teks di media terkait peringatan Hari Bahasa Ibu Internasional (HBII). Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif kualitatif dengan tehnik cuplikan berkriteria serta dikaji dengan tehnik analisis isi terhadap teks-teks terkait HBII pada koran harian cetak nasional, Kompas. Peneliti menggunakan pendekatan Linguistik Sistemik Fungsional untuk memperoleh makna interpersonal: transaksional melalui analisis struktur mood pada narasi, pelaporan, dan kutipan. Dari analisis tersebut, dieksplorasi juga sikap yang dihadirkan pelibat teks kepada pembacanya dari hasil analisis modalisasi dan modulasi. Penelitian ini menemukan kesimpulan bahwa teks-teks tersebut didominasi oleh makna bahasa dengan transaksi informasi daripada tindakan. Hal ini berdampak pada penyajiannya yang secara informatif dan berorientasi pada menambah wawasan.

The management environment is moving into a new phase with the changing global circumstances. The business ecosystem as a management strategy has been studied for the last 30 years since the concept was introduced. The purpose of this study was to analyze the research trend in business ecosystem by using network next analysis and to understand the concept, being one that is still being actively studied. Network text analysis is a commonly used method to analyze research trends by forming networks based on bibliographic data of the articles, namely, keywords. For the analysis, we collected the data and keywords from 340 research papers published in global academic journals related to business ecosystem on the basis of the Scopus database. Through keywords extraction and cleansing, we found that the keywords of “innovation”, “sustainability”, and “platform” were mentioned most frequently, and the research topics were correlated to each other. Moreover, we conducted degree centrality and betweenness centrality analysis along with clustering analysis by transforming the two-mode network into a one-mode network. Degree centrality involves analyzing the degree to which one keyword links to other keywords, and betweenness centrality shows the mediating effects of a keyword to other keywords. In the centrality analysis results, “innovation”, “sustainability”, “platform”, and “business model” showed the highest degree centrality, and “sustainability”, “innovation”, “China”, and “platform” had the highest betweenness centrality. Then, we classified the clusters of subtopics into five groups. The current study examined accumulated research and suggested a comprehensive understanding of the research trend in business ecosystem by incorporating a method enabling research trend analysis to secure objectivity. This research is expected to help researchers to review the research trend in business ecosystem and identify expandable topics for further studies.

The purpose of this study was to assess whether or not the oral group lessons in the student English textbook of grade seven promoted CL. The study involved in the textbook, two English language teachers and one hundred twenty students who have been teaching and learning the English language, respectively at Muke Turi Primary and Junior Secondary School in Northern Shoa, Ethiopia. The data for the study were gathered through text analysis. In order to see the actual happening and to triangulate the findings of the text analysis, interviews were conducted and classrooms were observed. The results of the study showed that the oral group lessons in the textbook of grade seven fulfilled almost all the criteria of CL; the teachers and the students who were interviewed understood the benefits of sharing ideas through group work which in turn promotes CL though the number of the students in the class was large, and the students had poor background knowledge of English. The classroom observations proved that the number of students in the class was large; the desks were fixed; the students frequently used their mother tongue rather than English during group discussions; the teachers did not set a time limit for the discussions, and there were few practices of evaluating the oral group lessons after group discussions. The findings of this study indicate that the oral group lessons in the textbook helped to promote CL though there were problems to practice them in the classrooms.

The article highlights how new sub-disciplines such as Malayalam literature are increasingly emerging as the mainstay of Literary studies in India. Though there is a debt to the British model that highlighted the canon from Chaucer to the twenty-first century, it has become increasingly clear that India will have to find its own understanding of what English Studies can best represent for contemporary Indian interests. Innovation will thus have to emerge both in terms of the content and a student-centred pedagogy. Shift in languages, with an increasing interest in gender, caste, visual culture has been an important step. In terms of pedagogy, negotiation between the need for articulations in mother tongue and English as a second language requires pedagogical reflections.

Many authors, scholars, and theorists have theoretically denied the possibility of translating into a foreign language (Newmark, 1998, 1995; Van Deth, 1989; Vásquez-Ayora, 1977 among others), because of the interference caused by the translator’s mother tongue as well as the lack of competence, especially in writing, and level of intuition when going into the foreign language. Authors confront and argue the different points of view. Arguments in favor of translating into a foreign language should also be considered (Wilss, 1982; Wotjak, 1981; Harris, 1990; Nord, 1992; Cao, 1996; Beeby, 1996; Quiroz and Muñoz, 1996; Zapata et al. 1998). Likewise, it is shown that methods, methodologies, and techniques may be used both ways. It is concluded that the correct establishment of text analysis features as well as linguistic characteristics in both languages make it possible to translate medical texts into English as a for-eign language.

AbstractAnalyzing the long-term dynamics of migrant integration is a significant challenge for researchers. This paper traces how ‘ordinary’ German-speaking migrants in the USA expressed their sense of participation and belonging throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries in the letters they wrote to their families ‘back home.’ We study a large collection of migrant letters written by German-speaking immigrants in the USA between 1830 and 1970 and analyze this new data with methods of computerized text analysis. The investigation shows how migrants continuously make and re-make identities within and across their heterogeneous migrant ‘groups.’ Our paper highlights the strong incentives for social and cultural integration in the absence of restrictive host state policies. We also show that political events and crises affecting both the country of origin and the destination country act as a catalyst in redefining, at least temporarily, parts of the migrant identities in relation to both the sending and host states.

Abstract Background: Implementation frameworks may support local implementation strategies with a sound theoretical foundation. The Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR) facilitates identification of contextual barriers and facilitators, and the Expert Recommendations for Implementation Change (ERIC) allows selecting adequate implementation strategies. Both instruments are already used in German-speaking countries; however, no standardised and validated translation is available thus far. The aim of this study was to translate the CFIR and ERIC framework into German, in order to increase the use of these frameworks and the adherence to evidence-based implementation efforts in German-speaking countries.Methods: The translation of the original versions of the CFIR and ERIC framework was guided by the World Health Organisation’s recommendations for the process of translating and adapting both conceptual frameworks. Accordingly, a four-step process was employed: First, forward translation from English into German was conducted by a research team of German native speakers with fluent knowledge of the English language. Second, a bilingual expert panel comprising one researcher with German as his mother tongue and expert command of the English language and one English language expert and university teacher reviewed the translation and discussed inconsistencies with the initial translators. Third, back-translation into English was conducted by an English native speaking researcher. The final version was pre-tested with 12 German researchers and clinicians who were involved in implementation projects using cognitive interviews.Results: The translation and review process revealed some inconsistencies between the original version and the German translations. All issues could be solved by discussion. Central aspects of the items were confirmed in 60% to 70% of the items, and modifications were proposed in 30% of the items. Finally, we revised one CFIR-item heading after pre-testing. The final version was given consent by all involved parties.Conclusions: Now, two validated and tested implementation frameworks to guide implementation efforts are available in the German language and can be used to improve adherence to and use of evidence-based implementation strategies into practice.
