Eri silk is one of the wild silk varieties which are mainly available in the north-eastern areas of India. It exhibits goodmechanical and thermal resistance properties. In this concern, the present study focused to develop a bi-layer knittedstructure made from Eri silk yarn as one side(next to skin) and on another side bamboo yarn knitted fabric. Similarly,Tencel knitted fabric was used instead of bamboo. Twenty-four bi-layer knitted fabrics were developed and thenanalysed for its thermal comfort property. The air permeability, and wick-ability were found to be higher and the thermalresistance was found to be higher for bi-layer plated interlocked knitted fabric made out of Eri silk compared to bambooand Tencel.

The present study investigated the air permeability of three representative sportswear brands products (OUDIKE, NIKE and an unknown brand bought from the boutique) in Hong Kong marketplace. It was found that NIKE sportswear had the highest air permeability (0.23kPa*s/m) among the samples, which indicates that it allows more air flow passing through the textile and provides good comfort property to wearer, while OUDIKE samples showed the lowest air permeability in capacity (0.08kPa*s/m). The fiber content and fabric structure may be the reason that affects the air permeability. This study would provide a comparative information about air permeability property of the mainstream sportswear brands product in Hong Kong market.

In order to realize the immobilization of collagen, chitosan and sericin on the surface of polypropylene fabric, the fabric is treated by ammonia and nitrogen low temperature plasma to produce reactive groups, and then the epoxy compounds (ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether, trimethylolpropane triglycidyl ether) are used as crosslinkers for a bridging process. Single factor experiment is carried out to investigate the influence of crosslinking parameters (temperature, time and the dosage of crosslinker) on immobilization yield. Chemical composition changes on the surface of the treated samples is analyzed by infrared spectroscopy, which indicated that the ammonia plasma treatment can produce more active groups. The results showed that immobilization rate of samples crosslinked by ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether is superior to that of trimethylolpropane triglycidyl ether. It also can be found that the fabric had a better wettability and antimicrobial properties. The whiteness and comfort property of chitosan-polypropylene fabric decreased slightly.

The absorption rate of fabric-foam-fabric plied materials for making intimate apparel was measured in this study. The fabric-foam-fabric plied materials were prepared by plying polyurethane foams (non-laminated and laminated) with different fabrics. The plied material is intended to be used in close-to-skin garment. Thus, the water absorption behaviour of the material would affect its comfort property. Therefore, we reported the absorption rate values of different plied samples and the results were discussed properly.

During sweating, textile materials would absorption water and then spread. The liquid spreading speed in the textile material would affect the comfort property. In this study, the liquid spreading speed of fabric-foam-fabric plied materials were studied. The plied material is intended to be used in close-to-skin garment such as intimate apparel. Thus, the liquid spreading speed of the material would affect its comfort property. The fabric-foam-fabric plied materials were prepared by plying polyurethane foams (non-laminated and laminated) with different fabrics. Therefore, we reported the liquid spreading speed values of different plied samples and the results were discussed properly.
