Indonesia hingga saat ini sedang berjuang melawan COVID-19. Dampak yang ditimbulkan dari adanya COVID-19 tidak hanya berpengaruh pada sektor kesehatan tetapi juga berpengaruh pada sektor perekonomian. Dari situasi tersebut membuat pengusaha UMKM harus melakukan usaha untuk menyesuaikan agar usaha tetap berjalan di situasi yang sulit tersebut. Salah satu cara yang dilakukan dengan beralihnya sistem penjualan ke online yang dilakukan oleh pengguna Instagram “Riul Market”. Berdasarkan fenomena tersebut, maka tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengalaman informan terkait peran fitur liveInstagram sebagai media transaksi di masa pandemi. Informan yang dimaksud adalah pemilik dan konsumen dari akun Instagram “Riul Market”. Untuk menjawab tujuan penelitian, peneliti menggunakan studi fenomenologi dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Studi fenomenologi fokus mengkaji peran fitur live Instagram “Riul Market” sebagai media transaksi dalam membangun kepercayaan konsumen dimasa pandemi berdasarkan pengalaman dari subjek penelitian. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa untuk membangun kepercayaan di media sosial “Riul Market” membawa identitas pemilik asli pada saat livedengan alamat dari tokonya meskipun melalui penyediaannya secara online. Selain itu membangun kepercayaan antara “Riul Market” dan pembeli harus selalu terbuka pada saat tawar menawar, dan transaksi dilakukan sehingga tidak terciptanya penipuan di kedua belah pihak, sebagai wujud arus antara keduanya dapat dipercaya dengan baik.

Jancuk is a swear word and has become part of the cultural communication of arek in East Java, Indonesia. This research tries to analyze the perception and meaning of jancuk from Indonesian society. This research is a descriptive research through a qualitative approach. 121 representative respondents were obtained through purposive sampling. Then, the data will be triangulated to draw conclusions and recommendations. The results showed that the period of education and growth became the jancuk word’s absorption phase. The results of the analysis explain that Jancuk is not perceived negatively. Its depends on the intensity of emotion in communication. However, Jancuk is still perceived as a word that violates politeness in the communication process. Then, the main meaning of jancuk consists of: humiliation, annoyance, disappointment, surprise, and a symbol of intimacy or humor. Based on this research, the perception of words in a particular culture can be seen as an expression that has various meanings. It is expected that this research will provide the reason for the public that jancuk can be an important contributor to the process of enriching social cross-cultural communication materials.

Growth of technology give big impact to development and changes in mass media. Today, even though broadcast media like radio and television still have place in the heart of audience, however should be recognized that the existence of social media, it must be recognized that the existence of social media has a significant impact on media development. Mainstream media, especially television broadcast media, are starting to look for ways not to be abandoned by their audience. They began put in social media content into television programs. That happened on all shows in television programs. No exception in the news program on TVOne. Therefore, it is interesting to study how the transfer of social media content to television news programs is a way for TVOne to survive in the midst of the onslaught of social media. This research focuses on news programs on TVOne that take social media content into the show. We will use descriptive qualitative research using the case study method and use the political economy theory of the media.

This study focuses on the meaning of marriage which is represented in the film  Teman Tapi Menikah 2 (2020) directed by Rako Prijanto. The divorce rate in Indonesia is increasing sharply, according to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics, it was recorded that 5.89% of the total 67.2 million household couples have divorced in 2015. In 2020, the number of divorce case has increased to 6.4% from 72.9 million married couples. Marriage it seems doesn’t look promising in the society. This high percentage of divorced coupled reflects the changes of social discourse on marriage in the society. However, this phenomenon seemingly hasn’t reflected in the cinema, while many films portray marriage in their narratives. Thus, it is interesting to explore how marriage has been represented in the cinema. This paper explores film Teman Tapi Menikah 2 (Friend but married 2), aiming to provide insight and cinematic representation about marriage by using descriptive qualitative. This research utilizes Tzvetan Todorov's narrative analysis as a technique to analyze the content of the film and find the meaning of marriage in the narrative. This paper relies on representation theory as a form of the theoretical basis of this research. The analysis is carried out by describing the storyline in the film, which will be divided into three parts according to the structure of Tzvetan Todorov's narrative analysis. They are the initial phase of marriage - marriage conflict - conflict resolution. This research finds that the film Teman Tapi Menikah 2 articulated a marriage is a form of a cooperative relationship between husband and wife that runs in a balanced and harmonious manner according to their respective roles and portions, with the aim of creating and build a harmonious family, both in parent-child relationships, as well as husband and wife themselves.

This research focuses on the visitors' experience of the Jazz Traffic Festival (JTF) 2019 in Surabaya. This research then aims to know how the experience gained by the visitors in JTF with the genre expansion was incorporated despite its title as Jazz music Performances. This research uses case study method and descriptive-qualitative approach. The data in this research is obtained by observation and independent-interviews with four informants as visitors of JTF. The results of this study showed that each JTF visitors have a different experience due to the preference and purpose of attending the festival. JTF becomes a public space for visitors who are part of the urban community for several reasons. The visitors attend JTF for the entertainment, to escape from the routine, to build social interactions, and to actualize self-identity. in addition, the innovative effort of JTF in maintaining its existence by expanding to non-jazz music and market was apparently still enjoyed by the visitors.

This research focuses on analyzing the discourse of the power relation between the state and the people in Indonesia in the lyrics of the songs "Kami Belum Tentu" and "Padi Milik Rakyat" by Feast (group band). Intolerance became Indonesia main concern in 2018 especially Surabaya’s church bombing, which then elaborated on other issues related to the socio- economic and political phenomena in Indonesia. The two songs were chosen because they adequately describe the socio-economic and political conditions in Indonesia and related to various sectors of government.This study uses Normal Fairclough's critical discourse analysis method to read the discourse on power relations between the state and the people which is articulated in the lyrics of the two songs. The results of this study conclude that the discourse on power relations with the form of Governmentality is spread in various areas of government, including in the leadership of a democratic country, the education system in Indonesia, the law constitution of UU ITE, towards farm workers through Reforma Agraria, and also in the management of tax money in Indonesia. The people will always be in a repressive state power system and the state uses its political power to carry out hegemonic submissions that are detrimental to the people structurally and economically through the ISA (Ideological State Apparatus) and RSA (Repressive State Apparatus) which critized in Indonesian indie song lyric.

Proses produksi pesan dalam stand up comedy merupakan isu krusial yang masih jarang dibahas dalam riset akademik. Publik seringkali tidak menyadari bahwa pesan dalam stand up comedy pada dasarnya membutuhkan proses persiapan yang panjang dan rumit. Lebih jauh lagi para proses produksi ini semua pesan yang disampaikan dalam stand up comedy sejatinya disiapkan, termasuk dalam tema-tema besar seperti isu gender, diskriminasi rasial, dan juga kelas. Informan dalam penelitian ini merupakan para comedians, anggota komunitas Stand Up Indo Surabaya, individu yang mewakili berbagai macam isu pada konten stand up comedy yang sering dibicarakan. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa komunitas Stand Up Indo Surabaya menjalankan praktik budaya stand up comedy atau stand up comedy culture sesuai dengan visi komunitas yang dipunya dan memiliki kekhasan dalam proses produksi materi komedi secara kolektif. Hal tersebut diwujudkan dengan pelaksanaan kegiatan secara rutin seperti sharing ilmu, comedy buddy, open mic—baik secara konvensional maupun online melalui sosial media Instagram (@standupindo_sby).

Dewasa ini kegiatan berkumpul dan melibatkan pembicaraan sering kali dilakukan di Kafe, kedai kopi ataupun warung. Kegiatan berkumpul, nongkrong, ngopi atau semacamnya dilakukan secara terus-menerus hingga menimbulkan sebuah pola konsumsi yang baru bagi masyarakat kota Gresik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pola konsumsi konsumen pengunjung kafe, kedai kopi, maupun warung kopi di Gresik.Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan konsep pola konsumsi gaya hidup, budaya konsumen, identitas dan konsep “third place”. Hasil dari penelitian ini meliputi pola konsumsi konsumen pengunjung kafe, kedai kopi dan warung kopi di Kota Gresik memiliki gambaran kegiatan yang bervariasi. Adapun aktivitas yang mereka lakukan juga sangat beragam misalnya berkumpul dengan keluarga, ngobrol dengan temannya, bertemu klien, rapat dan mengerjakan tugal kuliah atau kantor. Selanjutnya juga pengunjung memiliki pola konsumsi masing-masing, pengunjung juga memilih untuk menghabiskan waktunya, biaya yang dikeluarkan serta bagaimana seseorang tersebut dapat mencapai kesenangan dan kepuasan dirinya sendiri saat berada di kafe, kedai kopi ataupun warung kopi.
