In this paper weve tried to analyze the translation of L. Glck poem about Persephone (poetry collection Averno), carried out by Ekaterina Dais. A brief outline of literary work of Louise Glck is given. Using the method of hermeneutic commentary, the leitmotifs of her poetic and prose works are characterized. Understanding these motives is an important stage in the pre-text work, since the complex codes (often implicative) presented in poems about Persephone cannot be adequately deciphered without prior knowledge, and, therefore, it is not possible to evaluate the efforts of the translator, the tactics chosen by her. The material for the analysis is the poem Wanderer Persephone from the poetry collection Averno. Another goal of the article is to acquaint the Russian-speaking reader with the work of the original American poetess, which is currently reflected in the Russian scientific discourse.

In this article the problem of ethnocultural identity formation is considered in the context of the personal development problem, namely, as a person’s awareness of oneself, one’s environment as well as of oneself in one’s relations with other people. Along with the genetically determined prerequisites, ethnocultural identity formation is influenced by sociocultural factors, a person’s real life. The ethnocultural identity phenomenon is closely related to the methodological understanding of the foundations of deep, fundamental life meanings, values, and priorities. Ethnocultural identity and everything that relates to it – roots, historical destinies, ethnic culture, historical memory – are the most important values and life meanings of every person.

Frederik Rreshpja, a famous Albanian poet, was born in Shkoder in 1940 and died in 2006. His   first literary work, the poetry collection, "Albanian Rhapsody" was published in 1967. He was imprisoned and served 17 years in prison during the communist regime.After he was released from prison, lived in Tirana and published the volumes "The time has come to die again" - 1994, "Selected lyrics" - 1996, a collection that was announced the best national book of the year, as well the volume of poetry "In solitude " was to be published in 2004.The focus of the article is on the features of the poetic style specifically on the grotesque as an author’s poetic preference that constitutes a special point of view of the author.The grotesque as an archetype of the poetic state in Rreshpa's poetry is conceived as a way of artistic reflection and as a style of writing. The key function of the metaphor-grotesque is the transfer, within the form of expression, from one context to another context with poetic undertones.Grotesque is a way of expression or way of presentation in which exaggerated sides are put together in powerful and unexpected contrast, or the most mixed, distorted and isolated forms of reality…

The concept of “identity”, introduced into the psychological lexicon by E. Erickson and empirically verified by his followers, has now become firmly used by representatives of not only the entire spectrum of the humanities, but also politicians, political scientists, and publicists. At the same time, immediately after the release of the first edition of E. Erickson’s work “Identity: Youth and Crisis”, serious doubts were expressed about the validity and substantive value of using this concept in Russian scientific discourse, which have become unexpectedly relevant today. So what happens to “identity”? Where does a scientific concept end and a common cliche begin? Where is the border between the study of real scientific problems and pseudo-scientific activity? An attempt to give answers to these questions is undertaken by the following author’s thoughts.

Based on the publications of Russian scientists, the notions of the symbol in the humanities are studied. The problem of the nature, essence and purpose of a symbol, raised back in Antiquity, remains quite relevant at the present time. In Russian linguistics, the "symbolic" theme occupies one of the leading places, but a clear and unambiguous definition of the symbol is still missing. It is established that a symbol is an umbrella semantic formation, covering the subject areas of several scientific disciplines, outside the context of a specific scientific field or theory; it is a pro-term and can act as a generic name for any semiotic unit. The symbolism of the exact sciences and most of the linguistic signs falls into the category of conventional signs, in which the correspondence of the plans of expression and content is arbitrary, the symbolism of the exact sciences and most of the linguistic signs, while the symbolism of all other areas of knowledge falls into the category of motivated semiotic units, in which the plan of expression is one way or another connected with the content plan, and this connection is conditioned by similarity, contiguity, or in some other way. Endowing a motivated sign with a name leads to a ―doubling‖ of the semantic structure of a new formation, when the signifier of this sign – an image or a generalized representation – turns into a signified, sending to another signified, in relation to which it acts as a signifier. A symbol in its most general form is a sign in which the primary content is used as an exponent of another, more abstract and culturally valuable content. The list of specific characteristics of a symbol, both obligatory and optional, compiled according to scientific discourse, includes: ―vector‖ – the direction of symbolization from the concrete to the abstract; transcendence – going beyond the limits of real existence; vagueness and fragility of semantic boundaries, layering and depth; interpretation – the need for active work of thought and imagination to comprehend the symbolized meaning; coded deep meaning, mystery and mysticism; ―passwordness‖, intended for the initiated; intuitiveness; emotiogenicity, mobilizing force; axiology and ideology. The optional properties of a symbol are aesthetic appeal, emphasizing its socio-cultural significance, and, for ancient symbols, ―archetypeness‖ as belonging to the number of primary ideas and images. The functions of the symbol include: generally semiotic – informative and communicative; specific – epistemological, axiological, emotive-affective, social, cultural-unifying, representative, and in some of the symbols – aesthetic and mobilizing.

Nowadays, more than 1 billiard of “computer names” have been registered, that is why it is vital to outline the Internet-onomastics into a separate branch of onomastics. The article reflects upon discussions in the Ukrainian and Russian linguistics related to the interpretation of the new terms of proper names that function in the Internet. Though the Internet communication has been constantly developing, linguists have not developed a unified system of proper names for the Internet-communication. Some terms that have been proposed are not always consistent with main word-formation requirements: relevance, eloquence and analogy. Moreover, they do not reflect Slavic onomastic naming tradition. There is an urgent need to create a unified system of the Internet-onomastic; in particular, by minimalizing a range of synonymic terms and by actualizing their transparent motivation. Researchers give some propositions as to the aptness of usage and active introduction of some terms, justifying some motives for the nomination.

The article views categoricalness as a communicative category functioning in the scientific discourse and adversely affecting the process of scientific communication. The results of the discourse and contextual analysis of categoricalness revealed its correlation with the communicative categories of politeness, authoritativeness, confidence, subjectivity, and emotionality. The analysis of the texts of scientific reviews, oral discussions, and disputes allowed the authors to conclude that Russian scientific communication is characterized by a high level of categoricalness, which suggests potential conflictogenity in such type of interaction. The article discusses ways of neutralizing categoricalness through the use of several mitigation tools, including lexico-stylistic and syntactical ones, intended to eliminate the destructive component from scientific communication

The article examines the fable heritage of the Kabardian writer Barasbi Tkhamokov. The relevance of the study is associated with the absence of scientific works in Adyghe (Circassian) literary criticism, devoted not only to fables, but in general to the literary work of B. Tkhamokov, and for the first time the author of the article made an artistic translation of fables into Russian. Fables from the poetry collection of the writer «Quiet Word» namely «The Frog and the Snake» («Хьэндыркъуакъуэмрэ Благъуэмрэ»), «Barbarea and Grass» («Хьэкъыршымрэ Шыдудзымрэ»), «Dugout and a spring» («ЩIыунэмрэ Псынэмрэ»), «Duck head» («Бабыщыщхьэ»), «Wasp and bees» («Хьэдзыгъуанэмрэ Бжьэхэмрэ»), «Insect and cabbage» («ХьэпIацIэмрэ Къэбыстэмрэ»), «Bear and Wolf» («Мыщэмрэ Дыгъужьымрэ»), «Respect and Happiness» («Нэмысымрэ Насыпымрэ») are in the center of research attention. B. Tkhamokov's ideological views, his philosophical understanding of life and reliance on the Circassian code of ethics «Adyge khabze» are traced in the designated works. The study used the method of literary analysis. The results obtained can be used in the preparation of special courses on the Circassian literature.

In this article, the author examines the theoretical foundations of the study of the academic discourse of Russian and foreign authors. The definition of «scientific discourse / text / style» used in Russian linguistic and philological disciplines goes back to the paradigm of functional stylistics. The definition of «academic» in relation to «communication / discourse / text», emerging from the English-speaking tradition, grows out of the methodological direction of applied linguistics «English for Academic Purposes». Having considered these concepts, the author comes to the conclusion that the nomination «academic discourse» is used by analogy with Russian «scientific discourse» and English «academic discourse» to denote the entire set of communicative phenomena within the framework of the interaction of subjects of scientific and pedagogical spheres of activity.
