At this time, we often encounter many church officials who do not carry out their duties properly in a church service that the congregation has untrusted to them. In this paper I will present some reflections on the life of a church official who does not discipline himself in a church service. According to some people think that, discipline in the church is a major omission in some churches today where a leader is afraid to discipline the church to members of the congregation either to a church official, because it is considered contrary to the “love of God” which can cause division in a fellowship with in the church discipline in a congregatin & church, can cause the loss of church members who are affected from outside. Mean while, the major misunderstandings that occur in the church occur due to differences of opinion regarding the meaning, purpose, and nature of church discipline. Many see church discipline as a curse and presentation to a church official or to members of the congregation rather than to be seen as healing love. The purpose of writing this paper is to explain the correct understanding of the importance of church discipline for a church official in a church ministry today

"The present study focuses on the custom of “Beer”, a remarkable event that shaped the evolution of the communities that were part of the Second Romanian Border Regiment at Năsăud, a military unit of the Austrian army in Transylvania between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. It focuses specifically on the Şieuţ village and the detailed manner in which this social event was organized by the village’s young men between Christmas and the New Year, when young villagers could attend the “Beer”, an important occasion for social interaction. This research is based on a series of interviews with active community members from then and now and aims to offer an overview of the custom’s meaning and structure. According to tradition, during the Nativity Fast, young men would follow the call of the “bucin” and meet at the house of a host to plan the event. They were assigned the roles of “vătafi” and “colceri” who hired musicians for the event, while the “căprari” were responsible for collecting the traditional pastry received by carol singers. On Christmas Eve, they grouped and went caroling throughout the village. After the Christmas church service, the traditional folk dance (“Beer”) started at the host’s house. The traditional festive garments, the young men going caroling or the traditional men’s folk dance from Şieuţ, included in the UNESCO World Heritage, represent elements of this custom that have survived the passage of time, integrating the traditional into modern life. Keywords: Şieuţ, ”Beer”, Romanian folk dance, tradition, carol "

The article regards “Crime and Punishment” from the perspective of temple-related poetics which encompasses a universal pattern of both dogmatic and mystic Orthodox teaching about the Universe. It has enabled us to trace the connection between the novel itself and the Orthodox church service. Liturgics of the novel reveals itself through poetization of church services and sacraments. Among the sacraments mentioned above Confession and the Blessed Sacrament reflected in the Marmeladov’s storyline are of symbolic nature. Christ proves to be the most mysterious central image of the novel. Dostoevsky reproduces the Evangelic Image of Christ through the liturgic “listening” of the paroemia about the resurrection of Lazarus. The image of the priest which penetrates through the whole novel is associated with the iconography of the image of Christ. Liturgics of “Crime and Punishment” is supported by numerous evangelic images, in particular by the analogy of coffin-like room of Raskolnikov with shelters of the possessed, with the poetics of the New Testament related names and objects. The image of the Orthodox Church with its gleaming dome (the Church Raskolnikov is trying to sever all ties with) is regarded as a substantial image of particular relevance associated with the “Crime” of the novel. Exacerbation of the “spiritual impatient man” fades away in the Divine love which is reflected in love of his family and dear ones, in liturgic support of Christian symbols up to Epilogue (the most repeated symbols include images of cross, icon, grave candle, pray), motives of the sign of the cross, his mother’s blessing, cheerful acceptance of other’s person guilt. The studying of “Crime of Punishment” in the context of temple-related poetics has allowed us to define trans-historic nature of liturgic storylines. A striking point in this case could be “zaraisky storyline” which is connected with the colourman Mikolay, a native of Ryazan who reproduces the image of the Cup as Unity in Christ and as self-giving love. “Zaraisky storyline” connects “Crime and Punishment” with tragic events of the 13th century, with the cycle of stories about Nicola Zaraisky which tell about the invasion of Batu Khan and about the destruction of natives of Ryazan for the sake of faith as a reflection of the national ideal. Liturgucs of “Crime and Punishment” is strengthened by the hidden autobiographic storyline which turns the first of the Dostoevsky’s five novels into the novel-penitence.

A church order and church service – Article 48 of the Church Order of the Dutch Reformed Church investigatedFor the church order of the Dutch Reformed Church (DRC), article 48, the core of a church service is the fact that the Triune God is meeting his church and that this meeting should be determined by the core truths or lines of the relationship between God and his church or believers. This point of departure for a church service has been maintained in article 48 since 1962. It is accepted by many churches and creates the understanding that a church service is initiated by God who speaks and his church or the believers who answer. The rhythm of God who speaks and the church who answers should be the basic movements in each service. The content and changes of church order article 48 of the DRC from 1962–2017 are investigated. Some of the changes reveal some thought or beliefs in the DRC on these issues at that time.

In the article the author tries to view the works of Russian philosopher V.N. Ilyin on aesthetics as apologetic. Ilyin’s philosophic system that he himself termed as general morphology is based on such categories as “form”, “image” and “icon” as key elements, and thus it has obvious aesthetic dimension. General metaphysical principles stated in Ilyin’s theoretic and philosophic works that were not published in his lifetime, were reflected in his publicistic works – on aesthetics and liturgics. According to Ilyin, “form” is something by way of which the invisible ousia (essence) of the thing manifests itself on the surface – the phenomenon of invisible in visible image. For Ilyin the illustration of that principle was icon-painting. Ilyin also called his morphological system materologism – the doctrine on Logos running through the substance. Through the prism of this statement Ilyin views the phenomenon of bell-ringing, the “metaphysical task” of which was in “spiritualization of inorganic substance”, in that case – metal. An important part in Ilyin’s morphology was the metaphysics of light: light was something that allowed initially to discern forms and was the prerequisite for beauty and for admiring the beautiful. The appeal to beauty as something that was perceived directly in inner experience and lead the thought out of the limits of abstract logical construct, according to Ilyin, was part of the ontological argument of the divine being. Not only it contained the logically necessary conclusion of the divine being as the Absolute, but also included as a condition the “fact and act” of the man’s personal religious experience, – the experience of the direct perception of the divine reality in prayer and in church service, that, in its turn, was connected with the perception of the beauty of liturgical forms and with the cult as the phenomenon of the Absolute in circumstantial. This is the reason of the importance of the works on aesthetics and liturgics of Ilyin as an apologist.

In the article the authors on the basis of materials, consider the issues of preserving cultural traditions of the Russian population of the Middle Volga region, namely the revival of the Pentecost church-ale in 20–21 centuries on the example of the Russian national center of Aksubaevsky district of the Republic of Tatarstan. The experience accumulated over the thirty-year history of the revival of the holiday has not yet become an object of study of scientists, which determines the relevance of our work. The aim is to consider the features of the local version of the celebration of the Pentecost and the specifics of the revival of folk tradition in the modern world. The authors used general historical methods and special methods of ethnology: included observation and in-depth interview. Pentecost in its original meaning is a church festival. But it also incorporated folk traditions, customs and rituals. In Soviet times the celebration completely lost its former significance, the church service on the Whit Monday (Pentecost) was also not performed. Thanks to the initiative of local residents, the celebration of the Pentecost was resumed, which was a vivid example of the positive ethno-cultural experience of the revival of local ritual practices of the Russians of the Middle Volga region.

This chapter details Fr. Serafim's personhood, activities, and relationships with his parishioners. Fr. Serafim served in Zagorsk during Stalin's terror, the assault on the clergy, and the coming of the Second World War. It explains how he presents a different picture from the stereotype found in much of the literature about the typical Orthodox priest's personal distance from parishioners. Deeply involved in the lives of people gathered around him, Fr. Serafim was invariably encouraging and warm-spirited in relationships with them. The chapter focuses on Vera Iakovlevna Vasilevskaia's story, which introduces two other catacomb priests that had distinguished church service before their refusal to pledge loyalty to the Soviet government.
